DC 233 WInter Blitz Board 3 - Fall 1908 - former.trout (Mar 05, 2009, 9:36 pm) |
Whoops. A couple players have asked about the 3-way draw vote which I blithely ignored... Well - the result is that it was voted down.
However, a new 2-way A/R draw has been proposed in its place. Please have your yay or nay votes for the 2-way proposal in with your Spring 09 orders next Monday. (Failure to vote will count as a 'nay'.)
Cheers all,

Heya 234'ers...
Thanks to everyone for CCing the orders inbox on their orders. The Fall turn witnesses some setbacks for England as Germany survives with French assistance into Denmark. Meanwhile Russia holds onto its claim of the lions share of former Austrian territory.
One retreat was needed after the smoke clears - that of the English fleet in Denmark. That, plus the Winter 08 adjustments will be set due for Friday, March 6th (11:59 PM GMT).
Please just let me know if you spot any errors... Also, please continue to CC your orders to the inbox as Sam will not be back with us until next Monday.
Cheers everyone!

You must have missed that in the EULA, Mick.
Indeed, I have no fleet in London, though I wish I did!

Good grief.
Those players who have pointed it out to me are absolutely correct, and somehow a Flying Dutchman unit snuck onto the board for England while I was recreating the .dpy file. My apologies to everyone for the mistake, and thanks to those who spoke up about it.
You'll find attached the corrected .dpy, map and adjudication text. Without the English Militia in Picadilly Circus. But please give this one the once over as well, just in case there were more errors.
The seizing of London by the French changes the build counts, of course. England disbands 2, France builds 2. I can eke out a few extra hours in the deadline tonight as a result of my error, but as this is the Blitz I still need to adjudicate this evening.
Thanks again guys. Sorry for any confusion here.

DC 233 WInter Blitz Board 3 - Fall 1908 (Winter Blitz) Bridgejunky Mar 06, 05:56 am |
Trout,
Thanks for stepping in again.
Might it be an idea either to ask Kevin to broadcast his retreat ahead of the winter deadline or else to ask Steve (Italy) for conditional disbands. I'm sure we'd all agree it would only be fair that Steve should have tthe opportunity to nominate an additional disband rather than to have to take one 'by rule' if Kevin drops BUR into MAR.
Best,
Paul.

Heya folks,
Results come out a little later in the day than you're used to. Apologies for that - hope it doesn't throw any of you off. But while Adam is away, the TDs will play - or so they say. =)
The Fall 08 turn doesn't bring any relief to Italy or Germany, although the Kaiser does manage to find a home away from home in Edinburgh. There was one retreat owed from the Germans in Burgundy. That retreat, plus the Winter 08 adjustments, will be set due for Friday, Mar 6th (11:59 PM GMT). Please note the evening deadline to compensate for the later adjudication tonight..
Thanks to everyone for CCing the orders inbox.. Please continue to do so for the Winter turn, as Adam will not be back until next week. Just let me know if you spot any errors. Cheers!

Cheers!

I believe the rules of the tournament include for conditional builds/disbands due to the quick nature of the tournament. So, if Steve only submits three disbands on the thought that I'll be nice and not retreat to MAR... well then, he should pay for being so naive.

Best,
Paul.

Heya gang,
It's oh so close as Italy almost claims 18 dots but falls just one short... The green does claim two from Russia though, and swaps centers with the English. Meanwhile on the diplomatic front, the solo proposal meets with disapproval and we battle onwards.
There was one retreat owed by Italy from Bohemia, but since there was only Tyrolia to fall back to I took the liberty. (Dan, if OTB was preferred than please just let me know.) Deadline for Winter 08 adjustments will be set for Friday, March 6th (11:59 PM GMT).
Cheers!

Chose Spring Voting because NOT ALL have action this turn and, if someone anticipated that based on their moves, they might not get a chance to vote before Winter's end.
NON-VOTES count as YES!!!!

DC235 Dirkfell Another Bit of Business - A DIAS Has Been Proposed...Vote with SPRING Orders (Winter Blitz) untitled36 at yahoo.com Mar 06, 03:18 pm |
Given the turn of events with Italy/Austria, I think it would be premature for us to do a 6-way now. There's a lot of play left in this for all of us now... i vote "No"

A DIAS would give a draw to France, England, Germany, Austria, Italy and Turkey. Points for tournament would fall under 6-way draw [like next to nothing].

DC232 fall 1908 results! - coryfucius (Mar 05, 2009, 4:28 pm) |
First things first... as expected based on the public declarations earlier this week, both of the endgame proposals are rejected.
We bid farewell to England. The Royal Navy is left in anchor, although with the French and Turkish supports in place, any attempt to regain a center would have failed. Thanks for playing, Melinda!
Only three units move during fall 1908, as France pushes armies along the Baltic coast and Turkey moves to Sevastopol. No units are dislodged, so no autumn retreats are needed.
Winter 1908 adjustments are due tomorrow, Friday 3/6 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT. Only one player will participate in this phase:
France build 3 (remember, a French unit was destroyed during the spring)

ENGLAND REVOLTS OVER REVOLTING SCANDINAVIAN FOOD.
  Â
-- Oslo, Norway
The English army is in disarray over the latest food
"contamination" scare in Finland.  Originally thought to be
rancid meat they were being served, due to the smell of the
Mess Hall, it was eventually discovered that the odors were
wafting over the border from the unwashed armies in St.
   Petersburgh.
The English High Command ordered an immediate invasion of
the Northern Russian territory, and subsequently ordered
that the "post-victory Gatorade bath" be given to the
captured Russian troops.  "They need SOMETHING to quench
   that horrendous odor!"
  Â
Austria -> France: Your army is away from my borders, and I
expect it to stay away. Â Boh will not follow, but it will de
doing its best to keep you away from Austrian soil.Â
Austria -> Turkey: May our peace be long-lasting and
prosperous. Â Shall we coordinate our Russian attack?
  Â
Wow, I don’t remember pissing in everyone’s cornflakes at our
last breakfast meeting of heads of state ... but there are a
lot of things I don’t remember from the night before that
breakfast. Â Does anyone know the name of the strumpet in the
red dress that I dallied with?
    Â
Have I annoyed everyone? Â If so, not sorry (I am the French you
know), but if anyone wants to wheel and deal I’ll be the guy in
the corner trying to decide which units to keep on the board
and which ones go to oblivion.

DC228 F1903 retreats - gman (Mar 05, 2009, 4:09 am) |
Hi Guys, Some interesting news. I will be leaving the game as your GM and Steve will be taking over. Steve has given me enough advise about getting the game run right, that I am sure that things can only be the same or better than what I have been doing. I am sure you will be getting an email from him shortly. I will be traveling from Australia, through Thailand and beyond via land to St Petersburg and then traveling through Europe. It will take a few months and I am SO looking forward to it.... I will then be wokring in the UK and will enjoy my time there (18 months), then traveling back home through the Americas. I may even see some of you at various diplomacy tournaments..... Thanks for having me as a GM. Anyway. Austria is having trouble having email access.... and has been late a few times. I don't like games going slowly and was going to try and get a replacement.... I then read the orders and decided that the easiest and least disruptive thing I can do is the same as what I did with Germany and NMR him. So orders below: Austria: A Albania, no move received A Budapest, no move received A Trieste, no move received England: F Denmark - Helgoland Bight F English Channel - Belgium F Irish Sea - English Channel F North Sea Supports F English Channel - Belgium F Norway - St Petersburg(nc) A Sweden - Denmark France: F Brest - English Channel A Holland Supports A Picardy - Belgium F Mid-Atlantic Ocean Hold A Paris - Burgundy A Picardy - Belgium A Ruhr Supports A Holland F Spain(nc) Supports F Mid-Atlantic Ocean Italy: A Bohemia - Vienna F Greece Supports F Ionian Sea - Albania F Ionian Sea - Albania A Tyrolia Supports A Venice - Trieste A Venice - Trieste Russia: A Berlin Supports A Munich F Kiel - Baltic Sea A Moscow - St Petersburg A Munich Supports A Berlin A Silesia - Galicia A Ukraine - Moscow Turkey: A Ankara - Armenia F Black Sea Supports A Sevastopol F Constantinople - Bulgaria(ec) A Rumania - Budapest A Serbia Supports A Venice - Trieste A Sevastopol Hold A Smyrna - Constantinople Find car news, reviews and more Looking to change your car this year? Dc180 New Gm - Fall 1913 orders due 3/11/2009 at 2... - packrat (Mar 04, 2009, 8:45 pm) |
OKay gentlemen, here are your results. No retreats are needed so we move right on
to Fall 1913. Those orders will be due 3/11/2009 at 2100. If I have all sets marked
as FINAL I will adjudicate early.
Check for errors.
On a side note -
Turkey ordered ANK to support BLA to CON but never ordered BLA to CON.
I emailed suggesting only that he check his orders, but as I looked at the other orders
I noticed that even if Turkey HAD ordered BLA to CON it still would have failed since
the German order of ARM to ANK cut the Turkish support, and Austria's move had
support so the end result would have been 2 v 1 and Austria would have had it anyway.
So - please be sure to check your orders before you send them in. I will generally NOT be
checking orders, but if I notice something wrong - I will only suggest you check them, I will
not tell you what is wrong - that's up to you.

A&E 090205 / DC240: Winter 1763 adjudicated - martinhaven (Mar 04, 2009, 9:39 am) |
Sorry Gentlemen.
I am still in Southern California with my father. The news we received from heart tests yesterday was wonderful, and he will only have to have the aortic valve replaced. It still means open heart surgery, but since there was no disease to the actual heart, we are all in good spirits.
However, this is the FIRST time since Sunday that I have been able to get on the web on my computer. As such, I plead with you to continue to use my fmartin(at)psomas.com account for e-mail, as I think it's highly likely that I will not be consistent in logging on to my surewest account.
Thanks for your patience. I will try to review and respond to e-mails already written in the next few minutes, and hope to engage in dialogue throughout the next two days on my crackberry.

Folks,
As some of you know things have been pretty hectic in my house lately. The kids and I came down with a horrible stomach virus that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. The kids and I are finally better but we just received word that my husband is being sent back to his home base a few days earlier. That leaves me little less then a week to get packed, find us a truck and an apartment in San Antonio. During this time Stephen Lytton will be taking over GMing for you go so all orders from now on are to be sent to stevelytton(at)hotmail.com.
As soon as we get into San Antonio and we get settled I will take back over. Stephen will be setting a new deadline I believe. Have fun guys and take care. I'll be back in about 2 -3 weeks.. ( hopefully 2! )

DC224 - Fall 04 Deadline Reminder Correction - former.trout (Mar 03, 2009, 11:54 pm) |
Good grief.
Please add 24 hours to that deadline reminder. Fall 04 orders are due on Thursday, March 5th. That gives roughly 42 hours left to submit orders.
Apologies for the mix-up. Time to lay off the Screech I think.
