There has been conferring and pondering and (if I understand it aright) a little bit of witchcraft involved, but...
In consideration of the real life topsy-turvy that has led our France to disappear for a little while, the tournament directors are allowing a proxy France for the next few seasons, after which time, Rachel will resume her role. The proxy will be played by Steve Lytton, who can be reached at stevelytton(at)hotmail.com
I am going to push today's deadline back to 1500 CST (2100 GMT) to give people an extra chance to introduce themselves to Steve and to bamboozle him into placing some truly wretched orders -- though, from what I've seen of Steve's play in DC 211, he won't need any help...

BAVARIA TO BREAK WITH HOHENZOLLERNS, UNITE WITH HAPSBURGS, ORLEANS
By GEORG SCHMID
MUNICH — Mere months after the ousting of French troops from the Hofbrauhaus, another group of foreigners are making news in the Bavarian Capital. For the last three nights the Nymphemburg Palace has hosted emissaries from the Austrian monarch in secret conversations with key members of the Wittelsbach Dynasty and Bavarian Parliament. Also rumored to be among the delegation was a representative from the French king.
It has become increasingly apparent that the Prussian Kaiser’s hold on the Kingdom of Bavaria is taking a more abusive and usurious direction since the insane King Ludwig II pledged loyalty to the new pan-German Empire not three decades past (a movement never intended to include Austrians).
The return to alliance with Austria (and the newly restored Orleans dynasty) makes perfect sense. First, Austria has a long history of friendship with Bavaria, but not with Prussia. Second, the Catholic Faith binds the countries in calling and identity. Third, France and Austria have the military capability to liberate the Free State, and Bavaria has the wealth to make it worth their effort. French support of an Austrian attack is virtually guaranteed success.
Further, with the Prussian emperor so concerned with costly expeditions to the Northwest, there is little he could do to win back either the Wittelsbachs or the Bavarian territory from an Austrian-French occupation.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Austria Surrounded. Italians, needing additional forces to defeat the French, threaten Trieste. A French army in Bohemia is on the doorstep of Vienna. Russians in Galicia near Budapest. Turkish forces have secured key positions on the Eastern Front (Serbia is suddenly abandoned and vulnerable) and will soon be pouring out into the Mediterranean. The lack of diplomatic contact between the Ottoman Sultan and the German Kaiser or English King signals that the Turkish conquest of Russia will occur through Austria.Â
Key recommendations:
Rethink the Eastern strategy. A Russian attack from Galicia into Rumania is likely and if combined by support from Budapest and a move toward Bulgaria by the navy in Greece would guarantee either expulsion of the Turk from Sevastopol or Rumania. Limiting Ottoman power now is your only hope for long term containment.
or
Take Trieste. The Italians are in no position to defend themselves, nor are the French or Germans able to launch any kind of effectual campaign. The Italians are likely to attempt another move toward Piedmont to advance their Western border, with their naval advantage encouraging a campaign deep into Iberia.Â
---------------------------------------------------------------------
To the King of Prussia, His Imperial and Royal Majesty, Kaiser Wilhelm II:
From the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, His Royal Highness Edward VII
Dear William,
Your congratulations and acceptance of our opinions on Europe’s future are our great sense of joy! We do insist on making clear that it is not a surrogate we seek on the Continent, but a partner. As we stated before, your influence in the Low Countries is natural, considerable, and proper. We are directing our navies to support your navy from the Netherlands to Belgium. Consider this our pledge of good faith. This cooperation would be cemented by your agreement to build no more navies. We will respect your territorial waters as an enduring testimony of our fraternity and respect.
Your Own Uncle and Your Friend,
Bertie

Folks,
As some of you know things have been pretty hectic in my house lately. The kids and I came down with a horrible stomach virus that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. The kids and I are finally better but we just received word that my husband is being sent back to his home base a few days earlier. That leaves me little less then a week to get packed, find us a truck and an apartment in San Antonio. During this time Stephen Lytton will be taking over GMing for you go so all orders from now on are to be sent to stevelytton(at)hotmail.com.
As soon as we get into San Antonio and we get settled I will take back over. Stephen will be setting a new deadline I believe. Have fun guys and take care. I'll be back in about 2 -3 weeks.. ( hopefully 2! )

Heya folks of the Pleiades,
Spring 10 rolls around and sees more gains by the French in the center. Things stand pretty much pat elsewhere, except for a total withdrawal from Turkey on the part of the Tsar.
No retreats are needed... The French solo proposal meets with defeat as well. However - looking through the emails I see that I never truly laid it on the table for consideration. Apologies about that, and since it was my error we'll officially propose it this round. Please have your yay or nay votes for the French solo turned in with Fall 1910 orders.
Deadline for the vote, and for Fall 1910, will be set for Tuesday, February 24th (11:59 PM GMT).
Spot me if you see any errors. Cheers everyone!

DC223 - Fall 1905 adjudication - bielf11 (Feb 18, 2009, 9:35 pm) |
Fall 1905: The Russian leader has not ordered its units so these stay where they are, while trying to figure out what happened to their leader after such a successful campaign in 1904. The damage however is minimal as no Power has attempted to attack Russian units and the only two that tried to pry away Serbia from the Russians bounced ending up empty-handed.
Turkey slowly moves west while Italy tries to hold on to whatever is around. Italy's little adventure in Germany meanwhile ends with a decisive pushback from the German units in Kiel and Munich; Italy can only retreat to Silesia.
The German and French are still in a deadlock situation around Ruhr and Belgium. Although this time it's the French that have taken a defensive position.

Folks,
I'm sorry to say that I won't be fully online until about 2 March. Since I live so far outside the city, the satellite technician can't come out until then. The deadline, in this light, will be 3 March. I will send out a reminder and order receipts as soon as the technician leaves my house on the 2nd.
Very very sorry once again!

Folks,
Well, we're back in Texas now, and we've pretty much gotten our household set up. Unfortunately, the house we're holding is way out in the country, and we can only get TV/Internet service through a satellite company (in this case, DirecTV.) They appear to be terribly slow with setup, and won't be out here to connect us until the second of March.
Our next door neighbor has been good enough to let us leech from his connection until then, but only my wife's computer is able to connect, due to his security settings. I'll try to transfer all my Dip files to her computer until our connection is up, so I should be able to continue relatively unhindered. However, I'm not going to ask my wife to give up her Dip games and the MMO she plays just to let me spend hours on game emails, so I may be a bit terse for the next couple weeks.
I will still be able to give receipt for all your orders, and send adjudications. Please just be patient with me a bit longer until I have a chance to transfer those files. We're still unpacking, after all.
Thanks for your patience,
The White Wolf

However, I'm not going to ask my wife to give up her Dip games and the MMO she plays just to let me spend hours on game emails, so I may be a bit terse for the next couple weeks.
I will still be able to give receipt for all your orders, and send adjudications. Please just be patient with me a bit longer until I have a chance to transfer those files. We're still unpacking, after all.
Thanks for your patience,

Trout, Steve; Is this acceptable change to house rules?

Hey
Its been a day and a half since I got your email, and I've been hiking as that its president's day. With the pace of this game, I'm not sure it matters.
I'd be up for a draw, if yall want it. I've been locked in battle with Chu and trying to convince Chin to give me a break. A new player for Chin might help me, but he's probably just going to keep coming after me.
With the stopping and starting I never really got into a rhythm of the game, and I was getting a little worried I might not have much internet access this summer.
Best,
Lee

Steve
Can I propose a Draw for the remaining players (not including JacK) at this point?
I am tired of the delays in this game, and even though I am not attributing blame - this game has not had much continuity for me. and a NEW player at this stage is something I am looking forward to.
I propose a draw for :-
Barbarians, Yellow, Green, Purple with RED survivial (as of this WINTER)
If the other 4 are in favour, we could end this game and then a new one would be started with possible better flow and results?
what do you think Steve?

[quote:05c371081f] Sorry guys, but I have not heard from Jack of the Chin yet.
I wanted to give him every chance, because of his position, but it appears as though we will have to look for a replacement.
