DC-239 Distribution List Test - TheWhiteWolf (Feb 06, 2009, 8:26 am) |
Folks,
I'm testing my new DC-239 Distribution List. I'd like you all to reply to this email within 48 hours, to verify that I have the correct email address and that my distro list works. (I don't think the Mods need to do so, as I'm sure I've got your addresses right.)
Thanks,
The White Wolf

The calm of winter is shattered as military-industrial complexes across Europe pump out fresh meat for the grinder. Sadly for mankind, it's only the beginning...

DC196 Heroes And Villains - Fall 1911 - A Big Figh... - former.trout (Feb 05, 2009, 10:12 pm) |
Hey, don't knock crazy. The Romans were crazy, and they got all the girls.
-----------------
A couple surprise moves take place in the Fall 1911 turn - the major one being the port-call that the English fleet makes in Sweden. The English disband the surprised Turks and gain the center but with no free home centers they fail to pick up a build. Meanwhile, Austria and Italy trade off in Greece. The Atlantic remains uncrackable, however.
We do have a couple of adjustments - deadline for Winter 1911 will be set for Saturday, Feb 7th (11:59 PM GMT).
Finally, once more the DIAS proposal has been put forward for everyone's consideration. This would be a seven-player draw, if all agree to it. We'll set the deadline for your yay or nay votes with the Spring 1912 deadline - however if I do receive all seven votes by Saturday I will announce the result.
Don't knock crazy...

dc231 Fall 04 - Temp GM - FuzzyLogic (Feb 05, 2009, 9:55 pm) |
Hi all,
It looks like we’re just waiting for a Russian build. As soon as I get that, I’ll send out some results!
Note you’re now sending orders to ME!
Did Trout mention? If you send orders to Christine, and not to me, you will miss out! (unless you want to miss out, in which case you’ll be tremendously successful)
But if you don’t want to be tremendously successful in missing out on your orders, then be sure you send the next few turns to ME, and not Christine. You can copy her if you like, tho it won’t impact anything. You can copy my son too if you like, but again it won’t help. He’s 1, and doesn’t check email. He’s likely to not know who you are anyways. And if you copy your local state Senator, perhaps that will help, but most likely not. What CAN help, is that I accept bribes, and generally if they come in the form of a nice bottle of Gin or Vodka, that could help accordingly.
I guess that’s about it for now!
So to recap: Send orders to ME. Not Christine (unless you want to) and send Trout some lumps of coal. Why? Cuz it’s cold in Canada, and maybe he can put them under his covers.
Russian build is due by Friday 6pm Central US time, which equates to midnight GMT.
Enjoy,
-mike

Hi everyone,
In light of Christine's loss, Mike will be stepping in temporarily as GM of DC-231. Please send all orders to him at mike(at)southwall.com (mike(at)southwall.com) (Also, ensure that the orders inbox at orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com (orders(at)diplomaticcorp.com) is also copied.)
Please note that due to time zone differentials, the deadline times will change. We'll tentatively set the Winter 04 deadline for tomorrow night at 11:59 PM GMT - though Mike may modify that if necessary.
Thanks folks,
Trout

DC232 fall 1904 results! - coryfucius (Feb 05, 2009, 6:12 pm) |
Once again, we have an NMR, and this time it's confirmed by our tournament directors. Unlike the overturned NMR from the spring, this one directly affects control of a center.
French armies take full control of Germany, pushing Italy out of Berlin in the process. Germany is officially eliminated. France sails unopposed into Norway, but England retakes Liverpool in trade, and chases the French fleet out of the North Sea.
Austria attempts to convoy an army to Smyrna, presumably with Italian assistance... but Italy suffers an NMR. Turkey moves to Moscow, leaving Sevastopol undefended, guessing correctly that Austria would not move there from Rumania.
There are two autumn 1904 retreats due:
The French fleet in North Sea may retreat to Belgium, Helgoland Bight, Holland, Norwegian Sea, Skagerrak, Yorkshire, or OTB.
The Italian army in Berlin may retreat to Prussia or OTB. [Kind of a letdown compared to France's options, isn't it?]
Winter 1904 adjustments are as follows:
France build 3
Italy remove 1 (no change if retreat OTB)
Russia remove 1
Turkey build 1
Both the autumn 1904 retreats and winter 1904 adjustments will be due tomorrow, Friday 2/6 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT. Thanks, everyone!
Cory

DIPYCORP PRESS RELEASES
Regime Change in United Kingdom: Salisbury ousted by Balfour's
promise of "CHANGE WE CAN BE SMUG ABOUT." Russians see omens of
regime collapse within their own borders. Italians sign peace
treaty with Ethiopia but surprise supposed ally! Swiss pair wins
Nobel Peace Prize - which seems kinda unfair, honestly.
The Prime Minister writes:
Chancellor, it is my desire that you and I cooperate in the
movements of the future. My intention to land in Belgium was to
prevent the French from annexing it into their republic, but instead
kept you out. I will leave it to you this Spring. Similarly, I
trust that you will not prevent our taking Sweden.
Salisbury
The King of France looks forward to an un-even split of post
German Europe with her friends from England. French ownership of
Bel, Mun and Ber would be agreeable while France would help England
in taking Kie, Den, the Nordics and northern Russia. I believe a
little cooperation in Bel would set the cornerstone in redrawing the
map. English Naval support of a Pic Army into Bel would set this
plan moving irresistibly forward. Moving to the English Channel
would certainly chill our relationship, whereas a move which the new
London fleet replaces the unit in the North Sea when it moves east
would also point to a positive relationship. Germany is currently
in a awkward position, but together we could make it untenable.
I look forward to working with you soon.
The King of France extends the hand of friendship to Italy. I
will move my Mar Army to Pie in order to hit Germany from
underneath. Allowing my army to travel through your northern
frontier will solidify our friendly relationship. I look forward to
a future where there are no units tied up along our common frontier,
and thus they are freed to move somewhere more profitable.
Berlin.
To Il Duce,
Your words of support are most welcome to our suffering people.
Daily we await your support in driving the invidious French from the
once proud city of MUNICH.
Let the Italian people know that their support in Germany's hour of
need will never be forgotten, and when the time comes, Germany will
stand shoulder to shoulder with its fine Italian friends against ANY
outside aggressor.
The Kaiser Berlin
To our old and longest friends, the rulers of Britannia, from our
long ties through the House of Hannover and the House of Windsor,
Germany extends the hand of friendship!
We will support your efforts in the North where you strive to free
the peaceloving Russian peoples from the dead hand of the
Bolsheviks, and once we have removed the poisonous french dart from
Munich, we will look to support you in taking the fight to France.
BRE, POR and SPA for England, PAR and MAR for Germany.
If England can agree to this we will welcome its troops to BEL when
we can carry the fight directly into the French homeland!
Let us forge an unbreakable alliance that will stand the test of
time and carry all of Europe before it!
We await word from the Great British Prime Minister!
The Kaiser
Austria to Turkey: As long as Russia remains in my territories, you
have my full support!
Austria to Italy: We can get along, or we can stalemate. I mean
you no harm. I will probably move to Tyl to secure myself against
the French, but Ven is safe from me.
BANANAS! Turkish forces capture Crimean Peninsula. Britain weeps in
envy. The Archduke of Austria plans to claim Rumania for himself in
his bid to annex the Tsar¢s Empire. No one wants control of the
Mediterranean. All nations fear the Berbery pirates!
From: Austria
To: France
My dear friend,
I apologize for not being in position to support your army this
Spring. I wrote the wrong territory in my order to my army in
Vienna. It cost me an open port! If my error makes you withdraw
from Munich, fall back to Silesia. That way I will be able to
support your re-conquest from Bohemia or an onward movement into
Warsaw from Galicia.
Yours Sincerely,
Archduke Ferdinand

DC196 - Austrian Grace Period Entered - former.trout (Feb 05, 2009, 12:36 pm) |
Hi folks,
I'm missing orders for Austria for the Fall 1911 turn so we'll switch to Joao's 24 hour grace period for orders. All other orders are now locked in place, and hopefully Joao will get word to me within the next few hours with his moves.
Thanks for the patience everyone,

WOW! An Italian stab! Is it too good to be true? BLAH.
Isn't it too early to be calling for a draw proposal that will pass in about 5 years.

Austria and England can sit out the Winter. Everybody else owes me either a build or a disband (see the end of the adjudication to find out which).
There is a draw proposal on the table. Specifically, it is for an AIR draw. Following the tournament rules, I need votes from everybody by next Monday's S1905 adjudication. The draw succeeds only if all seven players vote in favor; a single NO or abstention will kill it. All votes are confidential.

DC223 - Fall 1904 adjudication - CORRECTION - bielf11 (Feb 05, 2009, 8:11 am) |
Have to apologize. I was too hurried to get the adjudication out that I missed Austria's order.
Sorry Jack.
CORRECTION:
Fall 1904: The Italian ruler has finally been able to restore communication with the outside world after heavy snowfall.
The Austrian emperor defiantly orders his fleet in Greece to hold its position despite the oncoming Russians, Italians, and Turks. It's like they all have picked up the smell of a dying prey.
Russia and Turkey advance further south and west. England not only looses Norway but also its home SC Liverpool. France and Germany are still locked in stalemate along the Belgium-Ruhr borders. And Italy has manouvered itself right between Germany and Russia unchallenged but it loosing terrain in the Balkans.
Retreats are due at the end of Fall. See below.

Folks,
As some of you know things have been pretty hectic in my house lately. The kids and I came down with a horrible stomach virus that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. The kids and I are finally better but we just received word that my husband is being sent back to his home base a few days earlier. That leaves me little less then a week to get packed, find us a truck and an apartment in San Antonio. During this time Stephen Lytton will be taking over GMing for you go so all orders from now on are to be sent to stevelytton(at)hotmail.com.
As soon as we get into San Antonio and we get settled I will take back over. Stephen will be setting a new deadline I believe. Have fun guys and take care. I'll be back in about 2 -3 weeks.. ( hopefully 2! )
