AND SO IT GOES...THE TURTLE IS INAPTLY NAME
France leaves us for good. It seems we hardly knew him.
France's units are in Anarchy [Civil Disorder] which means
that his units stand where they are and are unsupported.

That aside, I was quite happy to see the rest sticking true.

Still an interesting game which is why I am not seeking
a replacement for France. Austria in trouble? Is he
inadvertently getting help from the English?

Who will get the spoils from France? Stay tuned...

Orders below, map attached. Orders without map are
posted in the DC119 Forum on the dc webpage. We have
one retreat so a final map is pending that. Note that the
piece that needs to retreat [A Ser] is NOT shown
on the map, just the piece that replaced it. It will reappear
when I have a retreat order from Austria.

48 hours to contest the adjudication.

DC112 fall 1904 results and retreat/adjustment dea... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Sorry for the delay, everyone, I was away for a few days.

An interesting turn, as Italy not only stabs Austria to devastating effect, but also lends France unexpected support for what was to be a self-bounce in Marseilles and sails unopposed into Spain. France and Russia each take a center from Germany, who loses his banked build, but each of them loses a center elsewhere.

Austria and Russia each have a retreat due:
Austria's A Silesia may retreat to Bohemia or OTB.
Russia's A Galicia may retreat to Bohemia, Warsaw, or OTB.

Winter 1904 adjustments due:
Austria -- remove 1 or 2, contingent on retreats
France -- no change
Germany -- no change
Italy -- build 3
Russia -- no change or build 1, contingent on retreats

Both the retreats and the winter 1904 adjustments will be due Thursday, October 4 at 3pm Central (US).

DC105 - Tears Of Cassandra Fall 08 - The Wheat - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hi my Ancient Med Friends,

The Carthaginians arrive for battle but find themselves outmatched in Mediterranean waters, their fleet in the Messenian sinking to pay call to Atlantis. The situation in the southern deserts remains static but in the north, the Persians find themselves an opening.

No retreats required from the Fall moves, which means that we move directly into Winter 08 adjustments. Rome and Carthage attain builds, Greece needs to choose a unit to send home. Deadline for Winter 08 adjustments will be set for Wednesday, October 3rd (11:59 PM GMT) please.

In addition, we have two EOG proposals to vote on.
1. Persia-Carthage Draw
2. DIAS (Draw Including All Survivors.)

Please have your votes to me for these two proposals by the Winter deadline on Wednesday. A lack of vote will count as a no.

Cheers everyone!

DC123 Shade Of The Bonsai - Winter 1571 - Safe Pas... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
From the Twenty-One Precepts of Hojo Soun:

One should always be genteel in his speaking. A man shows his inmost self by a single word.

Northern Japan heats up as Oda plants two armies and the Asakura raise a force in Echizen. Meanwhile the Takeda put their new centers to use and take to the seas in Echigo while the Hojo launch another fleet in Sagami. The Mori build in Bingo and the Shimazu sharpen their swords in Higo. And as the storm clouds brew, the Uesugi abandon their position in Noto.

Apologies about the slight delay in the winter adjudication. There was a slight problem with email communications. For those of you using Yahoo accounts, further evidence was seen over the weekend that the Yahoo system is highly unstable. Just one of the reasons I switched to Gmail many moons ago. As it now sits, to get a hold of Samuel (Mori) please use his new email address of agenbite.lee(at)gmail.com (agenbite.lee(at)gmail.com)

Further business: The DC Mods would like us to switch DC-123 entirely to the new message board and system. (Basically this just means that once everyone is signed up to the forum, I will cease copying the Yahoogroup on the turn results.) However, this means that if you haven't already signed up to the DC123 forum, I need to ask you to please do so.

It is fairly easy to do this.
1. Go to www.diplomaticcorp.com
2. Click on 'Message Board'
3. The very first forum is the help forum - 'How To Log On'. Please follow the instructions there that pertain to you.
4. Join the DC123 forum
5. Write a reply to my 'Hey! I found the Message Board' post. Extra credit goes to those who can tell me what movie I quoted. =)

Please let me know if you have any troubles or issues with any of that. Deadline for Spring 1572 will be set for Friday, October 5th (11:59 PM GMT). Thanks all,

Trout

Both Austria and Russia have attempted to retreat their respective armies to Bohemia, so each army is destroyed! Russia is now able to rebuild, albeit farther away from the front.

Thanks to the prompt retreat orders, the winter 1904 adjustments deadline does not change. It remains Thursday, October 4 at 3pm Central (US).

Winter adjustments:
Austria: remove 1
Italy: build 3
Russia: build 1

DC104 Invitational - Winter 1907 - The Nurse - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The Champions of England, Turkey, Russia, Italy and Austria met in the anteroom of the Arena. The crowd could be heard roaring and chanting above them, the thunder of applause reverberating through the halls. The five men, all ultimate fighting medalists in their respective countries, paced, did push-ups or otherwise tried to loosen up and not show their nerves. The bout was only an exhibition - but all five champions had felt the pressure from home to come back with the win.

"Where's the Frenchman?" the Italian finally asked.

The Austrian shared a grin with the Turk. "Last we saw him, he was on a plane for Edinburgh. Kept muttering something about something called the Fiafranchetto."

The Turk laughed. "Yeah - that and he kept saying 'Gold gold gold'..."

The Russian snorted. "It's not the Frenchman I'm worried about, comrades. Where is the German?"

"Ach. I am here." A small mountain stepped into the room. The thickly muscled, and even thicker moustached, German was a colossus. Easily seven feet tall, his bulk filled the antechamber. The Kraut shrugged his shoulders and a sound like boulders falling down a hill filled the hall.

"Right then, well that's it for me." The Englishman threw in his towel. "I'm off for a spot of tea. You chaps have fun now. Cheerio."

Germany builds two armies and a fleet, Russia disbands in the Black Sea and we wish our friend Steve a fond adieu. The Invitational carries on, with Spring 1908 orders due on Friday, October 5th (11:59 PM GMT).

Guns, Germs and Steel 1264 / DC110 - Winter 1864 -... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
- JAPANESE BRING TECHNOLOGICAL EDGE TO SHANGHAI AND PORT ARTHUR
- VIVA LA REVOLUTION - FOREIGN FORCES DRIVEN FROM CUBA AND HAITI
- AUSTRIAN ARMIES FLOOD CENTRAL EUROPE - HABSBURGS PLAN ROYAL TRIP TO SERBIA
- BRITISH UNLEASH SECRET WEAPON - THE DRUNKEN IRISH FLOTILLA

Hey folks,

The board gets more crowded in Europe, less crowded in the Carribean. Fleets are built by Japan, France, Holland, Britain, Brazil and the United States. Meanwhile Austria and Turkey raise some troops. Meanwhile, the Confederates, Russia and Mexico make their disbands.

That does it for the winter of 1864. Deadline for Spring 1865 orders will be set for Saturday, October 6th (11:59 PM GMT). As always, please let me know if you spot any errors.

Cheers folks!

Re: solving dropout problem in live game - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Tis an option, tho standbys wont have much fun waiting to see if someone quits... Probly just go w the normal rules, if you sign up, you're signing up to play, and if you quit 2 hours into a game you knew was 6 hours, then you get tar & feathered, strung up by your toes, and beaten with lint-covered dust mops. I think that's our policy.

Maybe if you have a list of extra people for the game, they could be standbys to take over for those leaving. Not the best solution, but could be useful.

Dc120 Adjudication and Test 1 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dear All.

A number of people have said they did not receive the winter adjudication, so i am going to be sendng this email twice. Once fromy Dc120 account and once individually to all players. If you dont get the one with the map attached, then i suggest one of two things

1) Check your junk/bulk/spam email folder to see if it goes in there (since i am sending to a group of people you're email may filter it out) and then add me to the safe email list.

2) add stevelytton(at)hotmail.com (stevelytton(at)hotmail.com) to your safe email list anyway.

3) Sign up for the subcription feed for the dc120 message board at the club forum. Here are directions for getting to the forum. Once there in the dc120 forum, you will find directions to sign up for the subcrition feed.It is fairly easy to do this.

1. Go to www.diplomaticcorp.com
2. Click on 'Message Board'
3. The very first forum is the help forum - 'How To Log On'. Please follow the instructions there that pertain to you.
4. Join the DC120 forum
