DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Fall 2006 - Famil... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Oops.

My bad, folks. Most people actually did vote, but your humble GM is so brain-addled this evening that he forgot to mention it.

The BC / California draw was voted down. As is apparent from the adjudication, we roll onwards!!

Cheers!

What no official results of the vote? so few voted that the GM forgot there was even a vote on the table?

Shall we summarize which direction the winds are (still) blowing? Nah, we can all see it. Not an army to be found from the prairies to the west coast. Mexican control of the Panama Canal makes the warm waters of the Caribbean more enticing than the growing giant(s) to his north.

Suddenly Mexicos dominance in the pacific has dissipated to the point where the 3 fleets of the Giant can sail a little more south and effectively shut of the Pacific to Mexico.

Subject: DC138 Winter Of Our Discontent - Fall 2006 - Family Reunion

Our sage cookie of advice has this to say: Life is not a struggle, its a wiggle

Following its logic, Quebec wiggles through into at least one more game-year. Meanwhile New York gains some ground of their own and the tidal charts heave as Florida squares up against the Mexican positions.

One retreat followed the Fall moves - but the New York fleet in Quebec had only Cote-Nord to fall back to so I took the liberty. Rob, if OTB is preferred then please just let me know.

Winter 2006 deadline will be set for Monday, March 24th (11:59 PM GMT). Just let me know if you spot any errors.

Cheers!

Hah, and it should (still) be noted that Rob has chosen to cede the North Atlantic to the very “growing giant(s)” he speaks of below, instead of trying to stop them. Yes, Rob, you got NSc. But at what cost. I bet it falls to those giants within 2 years. You had the option to stop them. You chose not to, and so the giants grow on. Will you please stop talking like people should get a clue and stop them, when you are the worst perpetrator of all?

But whine away! Point fingers… it’s clearly not your fault. :-p

I’ll propose the following:

BC/Cali/Mexi/Fla draw

BC/Cali/Mexi draw
BC/Cali/Fla draw
BC/Mexi/Fla draw
Cali/Mexi/Fla draw

BC/Cali draw
BC/Mexi draw
BC/Fla draw
Cali/Mexi draw
Cali/Fla draw
Mexi/Fla draw

BC solo
Cali solo
Mexi solo
Fla solo

NY loss

And last, a move to each contribute $5 so that we can go to the local pet store, buy a dog for New York, and name it Clue… so that he’ll have one.

I vote YES to all 17 proposals.

Quebec.

Sims, you are one funny clown.

Let me recap that I tried to mend fences with HL. I SUPPORTED his ass for several turns. YET he continued to choose to conspire with BC against ME. Thus forcing my hand on the matter.

And for the record. My choice to leave the Atlantic fortified and not the interior was in a final hope that HL would feel more at ease with less of my units around him AND eventually stand and fight. So though you may not see it from my perspective, there was indeed sound thought behind my motives.

I TOO VOTE YES to ALL of those proposals.

I am not begging for people to get a clue. I am just reiterating the entire reason behind my proposal last turn.

Sims, do let me know when you are joining a Vanilla game with some space. I am curious to see how accurate this game is of your overall character. I mean one that preaches such high standards and loyalty as the Sims in this game, surely cannot be associated with the cunning, treacherous and opportunistic Sims that I have heard of. Alas if the two are infact the same, at list I would be privy to you uncanny wit.

Guns, Germs and Steel 1264 / DC110 - Fall 1870 - M... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
- USA EARNS WORLD RECORD IN BULD-GAINING OLYMPICS WITH A STAGGERING EIGHT BUILDS
- DUTCH FORCES FOLLOW THE WAY OF THE SAMURAI, LANDING IN KAGOSHIMA
- FRENCH FLEETS CANCEL ALL FERRY SERVICE ACROSS THE NORTH SEA
- AUSTRIANS SAIL TO BYZANTIUM AND INSTEAD FIND CONSTANTINOPLE

--------------------------------------------------------

The big get bigger, the small... well, you get the idea. One thing is for sure, the board is irrevocably changing.

Several retreats are required after the Fall turn - one each from the Dutch, Japanese, Russians, Austrians and British and two required from Brazil. Deadline for the Early Winter 1870 retreats will be set for Monday, March 24th (11:59 PM GMT).

PLEASE DOUBLE-CHECK THESE RESULTS! I have to admit that I'm a little under the influence tonight after the bad part of a couple bottles of wine - things might be a little shaky. Just let me know if you spot any errors.

Cheers folks!

Russia:
A Baghdad (bag) - Armenia (arm)

Holland Build 6
USA Build 8
Austria dot grabs from Russia (AGAIN - you fool - Rudi retreat to CYP would ya!)
England Caves under pressure.
China pulls his pants down - spear pointing at Russia and backdoor wide open to Holland.
Japan and Brazil eagerly await assymilation/desimation.
France too little too late.
Another fine turn by the itty bitty committee.
Another year of incredible gains by the forerunners. (Well done)
Aside from USA and HOLLAND Racing each other to the solo, is there really any possible reason to continue this game.
Another Vote.... USA/HOLLAND VICTORY.

Guns, Germs and Steel 1264 / DC110 - Fall 1870 - M... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Rob,

Stop pulling this holier than thou crap. You set this whole thing in motion with your play. I have been and have always been a man of my word in this game. I was content to fight it out at the point aginst the Dutch, but you and China could not see you way to back this action. All you could see was a dot grab. So, I took the last option I had which was to simply collapse and let you see your mistake. Deal with it. I am tired of hearing it. I would never vote for DIAS. I don't deserve a part of this, and as long as I have breath you won't either. If the players wish to continue then great. There is plenty of game left. There may be a point where the US or Holland may solo. There may still be a two-way that is not seen.

I hope the game continues, but either way, I welcome the Dutch, like I said I would.

Guns, Germs and Steel 1264 / DC110 - Fall 1870 - M... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Bret,

What holier than thou crap???!!??? I have admitted and confessed my mistakes and where applicable my reasoning behind some of the things I have done.

You want an apology for how things panned out between us? It's not coming. Get over it.

All I was trying to further illustrate is that Holland and USA are rapidly growing with less and less and less opposition. And even fewer capable countries to counter. That being the case, I am merely suggesting we send this game to the record books and move on with our lives.

I am tired of negotiation, debating, justifying, attempting to assemble the masses. I am Russia and I care only about Russia now. I either want this game to end in a passed vote (really I would vote in favor of any reasonable proposal) or continue it's rapid advance to a Solo for USA or Holland. I know Brazil has already chosen that. You have too (or I made the choice for you if you want to keep dumping blame on me). My retreats will come from my front with Holland first and foremost. They will not come from my Austrian or China front.

bottom line is I see 7 of us that cannot win - several of us will be lucky if we could survive more than 3 or 4 years. So unless USA or Holland are hell bent on trying for a solo (a very legitimate possibility for both of them) then I am asking - no pleading - with everyone to vote yes to a USA/Holland victory.

Rob

.hmmessage P { margin:0px;padding:0px;} body.hmmessage { FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Tahoma;} Rob,

Heya folks,

Truly sorry about this. Turns out I already had the missing adjustments but had mis-filed them in a different game-folder. My bad - the slight delay is on my shoulders...

Winter adjudication is below. England builds a pair of armies, Turkey a pair of fleets. Russia pots a pair of boots in Moscow and Germany removes in Helgoland. And with Italy non-responsive, I took the liberty and removed his non-SC unit in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Have not heard from the possible replacement players as of yet, but I will let everyone know ASAP what the situation there is. (They are blind-CC'd on this adjudication.)

Spring 1905 orders will be set for Wednesday, March 26th (11:59 PM GMT). Please send your orders to Alex, but copy me in on them in case he is still busy and cannot adjudicate.

Cheers!

Cheers!

Yes but when we complete the story, we also recall that NY orchestrated the stab… and you’ve since admitted that you don’t think triples can work, so you entered the alliance knowing you’d stab it (or try your best to arrange where 1 stabs 1 so you can join in on the side of your choice) well in advance of it even being an alliance. You can’t pin this failure on anyone else but yourself.

Well. I guess you CAN. But then I’d reference my previous post about getting a clue.

Oh boy... here we go again... the current state of the game is all my fault... Okay I'll shoulder the blame... just to put and end to this childish bickering...

I can pin my failure on myself.
I think HL can carry his own load and you too.
Cuba was just relentlessly stabbed... hats off to Florida for his timing.
BC and Cali and Mexico have just been fortunate that the rest of our mistakes made their direction and gains so much easier of a choice.

Such is life... now enough of the childish bickering... NY, HL and QC are all to blame for the mess in the NE.

Apologies for being quiet over the weekend. Our replacement Arch-Duke is Max Victory. You can get in touch with him at (maxatrest AT yahoo DOT co DOT uk). My thanks to our brave sacrifical lamb for joining up for the Spring slaughter. =P

Secondly, just a note. Somehow our friend Bill Taylor got caught up in the group emails for this game. PLEASE do not include him in any further mass transmissions as he has requested to be removed from all game communication.

Thanks everyone. Hope you all had a great holiday weekend.
