DC136 Avenging Disco Godfathers - Fall 1906 - I Fe... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Ooh
I feel love, I feel love
I feel love, I feel love
I feel love

----------------------------------------

Yup - Donna Summer wrote some pretty deep lyrics, that's for sure. It applies this turn though, as Russia gives England one last hug in Edinburgh and Germany and France tag-team Turkey in Tyrolia... Nothin but love on the board this round. =)

Sole retreat was the aforementioned Turkish unit in Tyrolia. It didn't have anywhere to go, though, so was removed off the board - the units disco days now complete. It means the Sultan gets a build though, as does Russia. Deadline for Winter adjustments will be set for Tuesday, February 26th (11:59 PM GMT).

In case any of you didn't gather already, the Subject headers since the start of the game have been song titles from the CD 'Pure Disco'. This album is now complete, however. I'll be spinning a new disc into play with the Winter adjudication so keep your dancing shoes tied. =P

Please let me know if you spot any errors. Cheers folks!

DC147 EOG Italy - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
As has been said already, the turning point here was
the Germany NMRing. I tried right away to rally the
troops against Russia, but to no avail and when I
found myself ally-less, all I could do was try to
survive... which I'm happy to say, I did.

I really thought England was going to turn around,
resulting in a EI vs TR endgame, but that didn't
happen either.

All in all, certainly not the most fun I've had
playing diplomacy, but every game's different and
that's what's great about it.

And thanks to our faithful GM... administered well.

All is forgiven and I hope to see you sometime on
another board.

DC150 Draw Proposal - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
A draw proposal is on the table. Please vote with your final orders...:

---
The French people are revolting and demanding and end to this war. As a compassionate leader I will honor the request to send their loved ones home safely as soon as possible.
France requests a vote giving Germany-Italy-Austria a three way draw. I admit my defeat to superior forces and ask for their mercy. I commend all on a game will played.

Thank You
Andy

DC125 GM EOG - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
A Lot of good critism on playablility.

As in the past, the game itself has been tweaked and was still under scrutiny for it's layout. We finally hit an undocumented feature where a unit was not able to move to an adjacent sc. I did make the appropriate fix but brings home the fact that it is a developmental game type.

The Iran/Iraq situation. Done purposely as in Austria/Italy on a standard game.

Cyprus needs adjusting without a doubt.

I would also change the Caspian Sea and make it land lock only as any fleet there is either stuck or controls it with no opposition.

I never did like how Tur and Mes up north can block out anyone with a single unit. Although it reminds me of Piedmont somewhat.

This game's inent was to be a smaller and faster game. Somewhat like 4 player South America. Something that would take 10 seasons to solo. So far that part is working.

If the interest was there, I would almost try readjusting. However, it took forever to fill this game and most of the others if I recall. I don't see it as a favorite in people's minds.

DC127 - Technical Problems - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Dear Players,

I don't know whether there is a bug in Realpolitik, but I have had it pointed out by one of our players that France's fleet MAR seems to have disappeared without good reason. I'm not sure why it hasn't given retreat to Gulf of Lyon as an option...

I will look into this and get back to you all as soon as possible.

Our French player did get back in touch I would welcome your thoughts of course - especially any CC'd GMs who may have had a similar experience with realpolitik - but I think for the moment we must assume there is a French Fleet in Lyo. How I sort a map out to represent this, I am not sure yet, but I may end up adjudicating by hand.

Apologies for this technical hitch.

Apologies for yet another delay - which I think may be necessary, but hopefully not. Attached is the Summer '08 map with the French Fleet in Lyo. I have already received moves from some of you - please feel free to update them. I shall adjudicate as normal Wednesday 3pm GMT UNLESS anyone requests an extension.

DC 134 - WOT - Fall 1001 Results - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Kandor Burns!
As the Borderlanders involve themselves in the affairs of the south, a Trolloc Horde has savaged Kandor.
But the Wind that drives the smoke across the land brings another change, the Seafolk have also loosed their vigilance and thre Seanchen Navies enter the Aryth Ocean for the first time since they sailed away at Hawkwing's command. Seafolk Rakers are also seen sailing up rivers all across the land. They bring Envoys to the Great Captains.
Dower grey women with three tiered parasols, each accompanied by a woman full of the Power, and a man with no scabbard on the sword at his belt, bring a message to each leader:
"The Sea Folk will no longer accept vague promises and short memories in exchange for their forbearance or support. Our fleets are now in place to inflict discomfort, if not outright pain, on every coast. We welcome serious proposals from all parties on how to do business in a manner which benefits us for more than one turn. All concerned can expect to pay something, one way or another."

We have 2 retreats, Shadar Logoth can only retreat to Saldaea so I will assume that unless you want to OTB Steve.
Lugard can retreat to Malden, The Hills of Kintara, or Far Madding.

Please note that the map is incorrect regarding the Whitecloak army that took Emond's Field.
I will get an updated map out first thing tomorrow morning (and will update the website at that time)

DC103 - Fall 1915 Deadline Reminder - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Heya gang,

Just sending a gentle reminder that orders for Fall 1915 are due in just under 20 hours from now. However, I have all sets of orders in hand, so we're looking good. Feel free to submit any order changes you would like to in the meantime, however.

Cheers!

Guns, Germs and steel 1264 / DC110 - Summer 1869 R... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Cast this game to the turf. It's over.

Holland has complete and utter control of the Indian Ocean. Gaining control in Africa and the Mideast. And being given gifts in the south Pacific by Japan. The powers that could prevent his advance have chose instead to bicker and stab amongst themselves turning a blind eye to Hollands unchecked growth.

The USA has exploded recently. He currently has NO significant threat to him. No vulnerable front and it is only a mater of time before he cracks Brazil and England. And he will continue to pick up gains as Japan collapses.

Who will turn and stop them? Who will stop bickering and stabbing and make a global concerted effort to stop them? Anyone? It would take all of the lesser powers - by name: Austria, England, France, China, Russia, Brazil and Japan - just to start to counter their strong holds. Anyone?

I am guilty of the bickering and stabbing myself. But I have given every effort imaginable to join those forces against Holland and USA. No real willing partners. Not even in certain area's where it would seem beneficial. I am tired. Tired of trying to band forces together to fight the super powers. Tired of neighbors, who should be allies, choosing to squabble over scraps while H and U continue to grow UNCHECKED!

Russia is now fully committed to repaying China. Not because of his stab, but because since we started talking, he has continued to turn a blind eye to Holland and disregarding the fact that he COULD make a difference. Every unit I have will now be thrown in that direction. If people, namely Austria choose to gobble up my centers as I redirect them then my point to this press will only be amplified. If France continues to be the patsy to these two powers, then I say hike that skirt up higher and bite the pillow a little harder. Soon they will swallow you up as well.

End this now, so I don't have to watch 7 players watch as their lack of awareness and desire to counter 2 players bites them in the ass.

USA and Holland - well done. Not sure how you got to that point before I joined, but what ever spell you cast over the rest of us deserves my applaud.

Dave I am coming for you...

Russia.

Heya Empire Seekers,

Think I covered most of the retreats with the headlines. Austria also retreats to Sudan, Japans second retreat is to the Kirbati Sea. On top of the retreats though, we have two pieces of press and an end-game proposal. The press I'll send in seperate emails following this one. The proposal is for a joint Dutch / US draw. We'll have a vote on it and set the deadline for votes with the Fall orders. Not voting will count as a nay and scuttle the proposal.

Fall orders and Dutch / US draw vote deadline will be set for Saturday, March 1st (11:59 PM GMT). As always, please just let me know if you spot any errors. Cheers!

Guns, Germs and Steel 1264 / DC110 - The Indian Pr... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The Indian Proclamation
Hereby we, William III of Orange, declare the Indian Ocean to be Dutch national waters. As a result of this, maritime law in the Indian Ocean will be suspended and Dutch National law will hold. Trading vessels are welcome in the Indian Ocean, but are required to acquire a permit at the Port Authorities in Kaapstad, Perth, Ceylon, Aden or Batavia. Military vessels are only allowed to enter the Indian Ocean when accompanied by vessels of the Royal Dutch Navy

Thus we have declared on July 1st 1869 in Batavia,

William III
King of Holland
Emperor of the Great Dutch Empire
Prince of Orange
Count of Nassau

Heya gang,

Just a gentle nudge that Fall 1913 orders are due in tomorrow within 20 hours. I do have votes from everyone for the draw proposal, but I am still missing a couple sets of orders. Never a good thing to assume the draw is a sure bet - please doublecheck for order confirmations and send those last couple sets in.. =)

Cheers,

Chaos, confusion but surprisingly little carnage. Its a tidy season as no dislodgements or disbands occur. It looks as though we're in for a stormy Fall, however...

Please let me know if you spot any errors in the adjudication. Deadline for Fall 1908 orders will be set for Thursday, February 28th (11:59 PM GMT).
