DC147 (wb0812) - Fall 1906 - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Heya gang,
England pulls the trigger on the wayward French, as Russia comes half-way to doing the same to Turkey. Deadline for Winter 1906 retreats and adjustments is set for Friday, February 15th (11:59 PM GMT). Please remember that the retreats submitted by other powers may affect your build count, so make sure to plan accordingly.
Please give me a holler if you spot any errors. Cheers!

One other note for the DC147 Fall 06 turn. A DIAS (Draw Including All Survivors) has been proposed. This would mean a draw between England, Russia, Italy, and Turkey. Please have a yay or nay vote in to me for this proposal with your Winter 1906 adjustments - failure to vote will count as a no.
Thanks everyone,

Youngstown player needed! - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Ever wanted to try the Youngstown variant?
Well Alexander is running a great new map of it, all nice and cleaned up, much better than the original – but is short a player for Japan!
Note it’s spring 02, and the poor Japanese empire was previously led by a player that botched the fall 01 moves and quit cuz he got no builds… So it’s an uphill battle, but being only the 2nd year, it would be great to have a noble soul step in to fill the shoes – anyone up for it?

Yet more GM's wanted! - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Mike, I will pick up another if you need the bodies (since I have one less to play in due to the oversight of some N008 GM.... )

Subject: Yet more GM's wanted!
Since this last post in early Jan, we’ve launched another 7 games, and our list of eager GM’s has gone dry!
If anyone is interested, let us know! Remember games run by volunteer help only.
Enjoy,
-mike
Hey diplomers…
The next standard game has filled (again) and is in search of a fearless leader!
There are currently 16 GM’s (now 19) running 38 games in the club… if you would like to join the ranks, pls let me know!
Some benefits of being a GM:
* It will improve your play! You will learn how players order, how alliances change, and so on. It will definitely take your Diplomacy game to the next level.
* It only takes about 20 minutes per week to run a turn.
* You’re making it possible for 7 other players to enjoy the game.
You remember your first game, right? You remember the GM, and the commentaries, and when the results came out? Well our next standard is full of 7 anxious and interested new players looking for that person to be their GM!
Especially to those new to the club… we run completely by volunteer help. Anyone can GM a game, just have to speak up.
Once you do, you will most likely get hooked and always want to run a couple while playing in a couple.
Enjoy!

DC140 "Never Ending Story" 6-hour remind... - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
The winter 1903 deadline arrives in about 6 hours, and I am still missing adjustment orders from at least one player. I'll offer a reminder of what happens in the case of No Build Received (NBR), a term I also apply if your missing order is a removal.
If you have a build due and suffer an NBR, your build is waived. That doesn't mean it's gone forever, but you would have to wait until winter 1904 to use your build, assuming you are still entitled to it.
If you have a removal due but go NBR, I will automatically remove the unit farthest from home -- I'll use England as an example, since it has units farther from home than Germany or Austria. England has 4 units in spaces adjacent to a home center, a unit in Denmark 2 spaces away from the nearest home center, and a unit in Sweden 3 spaces away. He must remove one unit this turn, but if he fails to submit orders, I would disband the army in Sweden.
Thanks, everyone!
Cory

Once Within: Inquiring Minds... - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Inquiring minds wanted to know…
********************************************
How would I handle NMR’s?
If you’ve either played in one of my games or read my house rules (www.sims-family.net/dip/houserules.htm) you’d already know! Expect results to go out same day of a deadline, come rain or shine… or fog. Any NMR in the first year and I’ll replace, after that, it’s most likely just an NMR but handled case by case. Given the players in this game, I don’t envision NMR’s will be a problem at all.
********************************************
What are the red arrows?
So that Rolf’s trolls may have a home, we can call them bridges! Even tho they’re not technically, they just mean the two spaces they point to are connected for direct movement (or support).
********************************************
How many SC are needed to win?
52. A full deck.
There are a total of 102 supply centers.
********************************************
Where are the space names from?
The names are taken from over 75 fantasy books, movies, shows, games, songs, places, mythologies, fairytales, folklore, and a few of them completely made up. The more you can relate to, the more you were probly a geek growing up!
Enjoy,

you want that.

And, they're off! France and Turkey seize critical seas while important
land spaces Gal and Bur remain unoccupied, though for different
reasons! What does it all mean? Since I don't hear the negotiations, I
have no idea!
No retreats obviously, so we progress directly to Fall 1901, due this

DC153 Fall 1901 Results - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
Wow, well there's certainly some firsts in my book in this game. I
don't think I've ever seen Germany claim only Swe, France claim only
Bel, or, most amazingly, a game with FOUR supply centers still neutral
after 1901! Thanks for making my job interesting guys! We'll see what
comes of it...
No retreats, so the next deadline is Winter 1901, due this Friday, Jan.
25, at 9 pm eastern. 6 of 7 of you have builds due (listed below the
adjudication), and remember there's no grace period for winter!

DC153 25 Hour Warning - test_gm (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am) |
I just noticed that I wrote the deadline as Wednesday the 26th, which
was the day I sent the mail out (and not even a Wednesday), instead of
Wednesday the 30th, which is tomorrow. However, since no one has
questioned the deadline, I assume you all knew what I meant. So the
deadline is still tomorrow at 9 pm eastern.
Have orders from: Turkey, Russia, Germany, Italy
Need orders from: Austria, England, France

And expectedly powers move to lower that ridiculously high number of
unclaimed neutrals, the Balkans are filled, surrounded, and full of
turmoil, and it all begins to unfold...don't get stabbed!
No retreats, so Fall 1902 is due this coming Monday, Feb. 4, at 9 pm
eastern. Prelims always welcome...
