dc410 winter 05 - catsfather   (Feb 24, 2012, 12:19 pm)
Austria retreats Rum - Ser, France retreats Tys - Wes, and Russia
retreats both its fleets OTB.
Then...
England builds a fleet in Lvp.
Germany builds an army in Ber.
Russia builds a fleet in Sev and an army in Mos.
And Italy disbands Venice ... a sad mirror of an item on the BBC news
website yesterday suggesting that the Italian government will have to
reduce funding to keep the city above the water.
Spring orders due on Monday at 18:00GMT.

Good Luck to the rest of you. My demise is purely of my own doing. The first time I have an early exit and absolutely no hard feelings towards anyone!
See you in Round 2!
Cory, please keep me on the email list -- I'd love to watch this game play out.

Thanks,

DC412 - Fall 1905 Results - Corrino   (Feb 23, 2012, 11:02 pm)
Hello Gents,
Quick one, due to the late hour.
Episode 11:  Same Actors, Different Story, Same Ending.

Tons of action these past two seasons.  Looking at the units, the board has changed a great deal.  Looking at the SC counts, it very nearly didn't change at all.
* E/G team up to destroy the Italian interloper in Brest.
* E/G team up to defend Moscow and push back the Turks in Southern Russia.
* Italy takes back Trieste from Turkey ... but the Tsar may suffer more than Sultan.
RETREATS:
* Turkish A Trieste may retreat to Albania, Vienna, or
OTB.
ADJUSTMENTS:

*  England and Germany remain unchanged on 8 SC apiece.*  Italy stays on 7 SC, but gets to rebuild the unit destroyed in Brest*  Russia and Turkey will need to make adjustments depending on the Turkish retreat from Trieste.1.  If the retreat is to ALBANIA, the Russia and Turkey are EVEN.  No builds/removes.2.  If the retreat is to VIENNA, then Russia must remove 1 and Turkey can build 1.3.  If the retreat is OTB, then Russia is EVEN and Turkey can build 1.
See below for full ownership and unit counts.

>>   Please recall that retreats and adjustments are submitted together.  However, you can make your builds conditional on another player's retreats.  For example, Italy may choose to build one unit if Turkey retreats to Vienna, and a different unit if Turkey retreats to Albania or OTB.
>>   Of course, you cannot make your adjustments conditional on someone else's adjustments, since all builds and removes are simultaneous, just as all Spring or Fall moves are simultaneous.

NEXT DEADLINE:  I expect to be at the Con very late tomorrow night, so
let's just make this simple and extend the deadline to the following morning.  Autumn 1905 retreats and Winter 1905 adjustments are due Saturday, February 23,at 8:00 AM Eastern Time.  That's 12 noon GMT.

Cheers,Chris

Orders as resolved.  Please notify the GM immediately if you spot an error.

Good Luck to the rest of you. My demise is purely of my own doing. The first time I have an early exit and absolutely no hard feelings towards anyone!
See you in Round 2!
Cory, please keep me on the email list -- I'd love to watch this game play out.

Thanks,

Hi everyone,

Here's your Autumn 1905 adjudication:

Austria:
F Adriatic Sea - Ionian Sea (*Fails*)
F Apulia Supports F Adriatic Sea - Ionian Sea (*Cut*)
A Greece Supports A Serbia - Albania
A Serbia - Albania
A Trieste - Venice
A Tuscany - Rome (*Bounce*)

France:
A Belgium Supports F Holland (*Cut*)

F North Sea Supports A Belgium (*Dislodged*)

A Munich - Ruhr
A Ruhr - Holland

Italy:

A Naples - Apulia (*Fails*)
F Tyrrhenian Sea - Rome (*Bounce*)

Russia:
F Black
Sea - Constantinople
A Constantinople - Smyrna
F Edinburgh Supports F Denmark - North Sea
A Liverpool Supports F Edinburgh
F North Atlantic Ocean - Irish Sea
F Norway Supports F Denmark - North Sea
F Norwegian Sea - North Atlantic Ocean
F Smyrna - Eastern Mediterranean
A Syria Supports A Constantinople - Smyrna
A Warsaw - Livonia

The following retreats are needed:

England's Fleet Holland moves to Helgoland Bight, or OTB

France's Fleet North Sea moves to Norwegian Sea, Skaggerak, Helgoland Bight, English Channel, London, or OTB.

Should both units attempt to retreat to Helgoland Bight, both units will be forced OTB.

The following builds and disbands need to be submitted with your retreats:

Austria:   Supp  7 Unit  7 Build  0
England:   Supp  1 Unit  2 Remove  1
France:    Supp  6 Unit  5 Build
1
Germany:   Supp  5 Unit  5 Build  0
Italy:     Supp  3 Unit  3 Build  0
Russia:    Supp 12 Unit 10 Build  2
Turkey:    Supp  0 Unit  0 Build  0

These builds and disbands assume that England and France do not retreat OTB, and that Poul does not retreat to London. Rick, if you decide to retreat OTB, you do not need to disband your Yorkshire fleet unless Poul retreats to London (and in which case you would be out of the game). Poul, if you choose to disband, or retreat to London, take an extra build.

The Winter
1905 adjustments are due *simultaneously* with the Autumn 1905 retreats.  I will adjudicate *both* tomorrow at 2100GMT (Friday 24 February).  If you choose, you may make your Winter orders conditional on Rick and Poul's decisions...

I'm not around for the next two weeks, so
Garry Bledsoe will be taking over the GMing of your game for the 1906 and 1907 game turns. Garry is another of the dc site mods, and one of the tournament directors of the Blitz, so you're in good hands. Please email your moves to Garry at:

...as well as to the orders inbox for the next two weeks. I'll be back in the chair for the Spring 1908 moves, Monday 12 March.

Overall not bad.  Forgot France forgot to build last year, so likely won't be able to force Mao next year... but should be able to get Germany in Bel and Lon.  Also can take Ion in the spring.

Think a F Stp (nc) is worthwhile for me.  Possibly also have it condition to F Stp (sc) if France does the unlikely restreat to Ska.  Might how off on the other build..  You think another fleet in the south is worthwhile at this point?

Any other thoughts?

Hi everyone,

Here's your Autumn 1905 adjudication:

Austria:
F Adriatic Sea - Ionian Sea (*Fails*)
F Apulia Supports F Adriatic Sea - Ionian Sea (*Cut*)
A Greece Supports A Serbia - Albania
A Serbia - Albania
A Trieste - Venice
A Tuscany - Rome (*Bounce*)
A Tyrolia Supports A Trieste - Venice

England:
F Holland Supports F North Sea (*Dislodged*)
F Yorkshire Supports F North Sea

France:
A Belgium Supports F Holland (*Cut*)
F English Channel - Mid-Atlantic Ocean
A Gascony - Paris
F North Sea Supports A Belgium (*Dislodged*)
A Piedmont - Marseilles

Germany:
A Burgundy - Belgium (*Fails*)
F Denmark - North Sea
F Kiel Supports A Ruhr - Holland
A Munich - Ruhr
A Ruhr - Holland

Italy:
F Ionian Sea Supports A Naples - Apulia (*Cut*)
A Naples - Apulia (*Fails*)
F Tyrrhenian Sea - Rome (*Bounce*)

Russia:
F Black
Sea - Constantinople
A Constantinople - Smyrna
F Edinburgh Supports F Denmark - North Sea
A Liverpool Supports F Edinburgh
F North Atlantic Ocean - Irish Sea
F Norway Supports F Denmark - North Sea
F Norwegian Sea - North Atlantic Ocean
F Smyrna - Eastern Mediterranean
A Syria Supports A Constantinople - Smyrna
A Warsaw - Livonia

The following retreats are needed:

England's Fleet Holland moves to Helgoland Bight, or OTB

France's Fleet North Sea moves to Norwegian Sea, Skaggerak, Helgoland Bight, English Channel, London, or OTB.

Should both units attempt to retreat to Helgoland Bight, both units will be forced OTB.

The following builds and disbands need to be submitted with your retreats:

Austria:   Supp  7 Unit  7 Build  0
England:   Supp  1 Unit  2 Remove  1
France:    Supp  6 Unit  5 Build
1
Germany:   Supp  5 Unit  5 Build  0
Italy:     Supp  3 Unit  3 Build  0
Russia:    Supp 12 Unit 10 Build  2
Turkey:    Supp  0 Unit  0 Build  0

These builds and disbands assume that England and France do not retreat OTB, and that Poul does not retreat to London. Rick, if you decide to retreat OTB, you do not need to disband your Yorkshire fleet unless Poul retreats to London (and in which case you would be out of the game). Poul, if you choose to disband, or retreat to London, take an extra build.

The Winter
1905 adjustments are due *simultaneously* with the Autumn 1905 retreats.  I will adjudicate *both* tomorrow at 2100GMT (Friday 24 February).  If you choose, you may make your Winter orders conditional on Rick and Poul's decisions...

I'm not around for the next two weeks, so
Garry Bledsoe will be taking over the GMing of your game for the 1906 and 1907 game turns. Garry is another of the dc site mods, and one of the tournament directors of the Blitz, so you're in good hands. Please email your moves to Garry at:

kielmarsh(at)hotmail.com

...as well as to the orders inbox for the next two weeks. I'll be back in the chair for the Spring 1908 moves, Monday 12 March.

Quick notes to all:
1. Happy to take over2. For those who don't already know, the email address Jerome had below has a typo. It should be kielmarch(at)hotmail.com3. I will run turns pretty close to 4p CST; I am usually pretty good about confirming so GET CONCERNED if you don't have confirmation from me4. Of course ALWAYS copy the orders box.5. Good luck!
Thanks for the hand off Jerome.

Ah! It's good to be a Turk with the wind flying through your hair, burning Austrian villages as you sing a song of victory! There will be builds aplenty at the Turkish table tonight! Austria salves his losses slightly with the booty plundered from Warsaw, but his position is in entire disarray. Even without Warsaw, Germany doesn't have enough open home centers for all his builds.
There is one retreat: the German army in Silesia may retreat to Berlin or Prussia or off the board.
Then, in the Winter, the SC count stands at:
Austria: Supp 3 Unit 5 Remove 2
France: Supp 9 Unit 9 Build 0
Germany: Supp 8 Unit 6 Build 1
Italy: Supp 4 Unit 4 Build 0
Russia: Supp 1 Unit 1 Build 0
Turkey: Supp 9 Unit 6 Build 3
Retreats and adjustments are due tomorrow (Friday) at 20:00 GMT.

dc410 fall 05 the season on dislodgements ... the... - catsfather   (Feb 23, 2012, 12:36 pm)
Four retreats due.
Austrian A Rumania can retreat to Serbia, or OTB.
French F Tyrrhenian Sea can retreat to Tuscany or Gulf of Lyon or
Western Mediterranean, or OTB.
Russian F Norway can retreat to St Petersburg(nc) or Barents Sea or
Skagerrak, or OTB.
Russian F Sweden can retreat to Skagerrak or Gulf of Bothnia or Finland, or OTB.
Then (and) builds. (Please do check these yourself as I wouldn't be
at all surprised if I've made a mistake.)
Austria has no builds unless they retreat OTB and then have 1 build.
England has 1 build.
France has no builds unless they retreat OTB and then have 1 build.
Germany has 1 build.
Italy has to remove 1 unit.
Russia has no builds, but has two retreats, so depending upon any
going OTB may have 2 builds.
Blimey!
Retreat and build orders are due by 18:00GMT on Friday. Build orders
can be conditional upon the retreat orders, but please make it simple
for me to understand... "if X retreats to Y then build A otherwise
build B".
As for cheeky, I'm never quite sure of the ethics of Italy's support
order. I know it's a legitimate order, but I always feel a bit dirty
when I order it (which I do).

*Turks Evacuate Constantinople as Enemies Surge In!*
*London Falls to the French, Queen Flees to Country Estate!*
*Germans and Russians Swap Centers (Again!)*

Hey all,

Well, team, it was a fun turn to watch. For France and Austria, it was probably a fun turn as well. For England and Turkey, maybe not so much. For the rest of you, it seemed like a mixed bag. I have to admit, I enjoy the almost "synchronized dance" of Russia and Germany swapping centers back and forth. Both manage to reclaim a home center, and both have to retreat a unit. In fact, we have an unprecedented (in this game) 3 units who need to retreat. They get slightly complicated because you can not retreat to a center where a bounce took play that turn, so here are the options:
English A Lon - Yor or OTB
Russian A Ber - Sil or OTB (Mun was bounced, and the attacker came from Pru)
German A War - Lvn, Pru, Ukr or OTB (Mos was bounced, and the attacker came from Sil)

that leaves us with the builds:
Austria: +1
England: Even (or +1 if Lon retreats OTB)
France: +1
Germany: Even (technically +1 if War retreats OTB, but no available center to build in)
Italy: +1
Russia: Even (technically +1 if Ber retreats OTB, but no available center to build in)
Turkey: -1

May the force be with you!

John
