dc207 Mandate f368bc results! - FuzzyLogic   (Nov 08, 2008, 4:29 pm)
Corrected subject…

RETREAT!
Yen F Hsiangping can retreat to North Choson Sea.
Neutral A Lu can retreat to Nan Lintse or Nan Tsechuan.

(everyone should order the single Neutral retreat)

BUILD!

Chii: Build 1 or 2 (should submit conditional upon the Neutral retreat)
Chin: Build 2
Chu: Build 1
Hsiung-Nu: Build 1 (for capturing 2 SC’s)
Shu: Build 2

RETREATS and BUILDS are due TOGETHER on Tuesday 11/11, 10am Pacific!

**************************************************

After careful rereading the wiki article on this variant (www.dipwiki.com/?title=Mandate_Of_Heaven) I believe a proper interpretation of the neutrals ordering is that only if a majority of the players AND those players being in control of a majority of the units on the board order a neutral to do something, then it will do it… not simply the order for the neutral which got the most votes. So – 2 of the neutral orders I sent out last time were as a result of a neutral being a clear winner over any other choice, but not a majority of the players. So these are hereby revised:

Neutral Retreats:
A Ba - Nanchin
disband A Chungshan
A Han - Chou
disband F Tung Yueh
A Wei - Hsi Handan

The only change is the F Tung Yueh DISBANDS as a result of confusion, it does not go to SCS. And A Chungshan still disbands, tho as a result of confusion, not a majority order. The other 3 units DID get at least a matching 4 powers ordering them.

The implication of this is that as long as 7 players are active in the game (or even 6), it will take 4 players cooperating to get any neutral unit to move.

Now – to delay or not for this? Well playing it out, the Fleet in SCS would not do anything for this turn as a result of your collective orders, so it is non-impacting on the game that it does hereby NOT EXIST and we’ll move onward with the f01 results.

NEUTRALS: All fail to do anything – they hold
A Chou
A Handan
A Hsi Handan
A Hsi Yueh
A Lu (*Dislodged*)
A Nanchin
A Pei Choson

When ordering the neutrals, please COPY the above small section, and write your orders after that. It will make it easier for me to paste such into a spreadsheet for majority comparison.

PLAYERS:

Chao:
A Chinyang Supports A Tung Chinyang (*Cut*)
A Tung Chinyang Supports A Chinyang
A Wei Supports A Chinyang (*Disbanded*)

Chii:
A Lintse - Lu
A Sung Supports A Lintse - Lu
F Tsechuan - Lintse

Chin:
A Han Supports A Shang - Wei
A Pei Shang - Chinyang (*Fails*)
A Shang - Wei

Chu:
A Chen - Pengli (*Bounce*)
A Tung Yueh - Pengli (*Bounce*)
A Ying - Nanchin (*Fails*)

Hsiung-Nu:
A Choson Supports A Nan Hsienpi - Hsiangping
A Nan Hsienpi - Hsiangping
A Shanggu - Yubeiping (*Bounce*)

Shu:
A Ba - Pei Choushi
A Daiyeng Supports A Hanchung - Ba
A Hanchung - Ba

Yen:
A Chungshan Supports A Nan Yubeiping
F Hsiangping - Yubeiping (*Dislodged*)
A Nan Yubeiping Supports A Chungshan

No confusion among these neutrals, majority objectives are followed to the letter in every case, including the order to disband in Chungshan. How is that for following orders! Now if only my wife would listen half that… um… nevermind. Smile

Neutrals:

A Ba - Nanchin
disband A Chungshan
A Han - Chou
F Tung Yueh - South Choson Sea
A Wei - Hsi Handan

NEXT: Fall 368bc due Friday 11/7, 10am Pacific!

Don't forget to order the neutrals -- Not doing so means you're simply giving up their orders to someone else.

Enjoy,
-mike

RETREATS:

Neutrals:
A Ba
A Chungshan
A Han
F Tung Yueh
A Wei

The only units dislodged are neutral.

Let’s take Neutral orders by Tues 11/4, 10am Pacific.

ALL 7 MUST at least reply to me, whether or not you wish to order retreats, thereby confirming your interest in the game. I will post the retreats only based on those who actually submit suggestions for the neutral units. Those who choose not to submit will not be assumed to be submitting hold orders, they will be abstaining from any neutral orders. HOWEVER you still must confirm you have not dropped off the face of the planet and at a bare minimum confirm you are in the game! Those who submit orders for neutrals publicly in the form of a limerick will be given double weight.

**************************************************

Administrative notes:

The game page is all updated. See the correct data, at www.diplomaticcorp.com?game_id=dc207

The RP / RW variant on the site was nonfunctional, I updated it, and corrected some problems. Namely, Ch’i and Ch’in were not valid countries as RW confused one w the other. The attached .dpw file will work if you go and REDOWNLOAD the variant from the site, delete your current variant from RW (RP will not work) and install this one. Download from: http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/variants.php.

I'm game to continue. Here's my limerick retreats: Razz

A Ba could retreat to Dian
A Han may as well just disband
A Chungshan to Yubeiping

And F Tung Yueh simply sinking
A Wei can cause trouble in Hsi Handan
Sorry to the Yen, I'll admit that retreat was more than a little bit just for the rhyme... <Sad

Let’s get this game out of the closet
And restart it with a deposit
Of any amount
Into my account
Or simply retreats we can posit

Your choice folks, donations or retreats! But you all gotta confirm we’re gonna game on here.

RETREATS:

Neutrals:
A Ba
A Chungshan
A Han
F Tung Yueh

I'm game to continue. Here's my limerick retreats: Razz

A Ba could retreat to Dian
A Han may as well just disband
A Chungshan to Yubeiping

And F Tung Yueh simply sinking
A Wei can cause trouble in Hsi Handan
Sorry to the Yen, I'll admit that retreat was more than a little bit just for the rhyme... <Sad

Hello all, I am your temporary GM, just until Steve gets his Computer situation worked out.

So as I understand it, you have all received the spring results, and I now need the retreat orders from you all.
Please send those orders to me and the Game box by Thursday, (at) 9pm East Coast US Time. (for reference I am sending this message just past 10:30 AM)

Thank you all for your patience!

Here are the results again:

"For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill."

With three mobile neutrals (and one supporting), it appears that some are attempting to win without fighting.
Everyone captures exactly one neutral center this Spring, which leads to several dislodgements.
Let's get the Retreat orders for those neutrals in on Tuesday, October the 7th at 23:59 GMT. Retreat orders will be the same as regular ordering of Neutrals, except that if there is no consensus, the unit will disband. There will be no delay for this adjucation. Since there are no Chinese units that were dislodged, and only neutrals, any orders missing on Tuesday will be orders to disband the neutrals. If this is what you want, I will still appreciate you shooting me an email telling me that.

A couple of technical notes: I am using my wife's MAC, which I hate. Because of this, I don't have the file converters that I have on my computer (and it took enough to convince my wife to let me download Realpolitick), and I don't know how to convert the .pic to a .gif. If someone could do that, and email it back to me, that would help a lot. Also, the MAC version of Realpolitick won't let me copy the orders like the PC version does. How do I get around that, so I don't have to type the orders next time?
Thirdly, I think something is wrong with the Mandate RP file. On my PC and MAC, I can't open a saved version. It says something like invalid order or something. Does anyone know more about RP that can figure out what that is?

Didn't Steve actually get the retreats out? I thought I saw him issue them about a week ago.

I'll run through the emails once I have some time..

Jason

I hope everyone is enjoying the variant so far. It has some flaws, in my opinion, but it does have a certain appeal.
