dc384 Winter 05 adjudication - draw proposal - jerome777   (Jul 15, 2011, 3:31 pm)
Hello everyone,

The deadline for Spring 1906 is just under 48 hours away, at 2000GMT this Sunday evening (Sunday 17 July). Please ensure you've sent me your moves, and your EGP votes, by then.

Thanks,

dc384 Winter 05 adjudication - draw proposal - jerome777   (Jul 11, 2011, 3:20 pm)
Hi everyone,

Here's your Winter 05 adjudication:

Austria:

Remove A Tyrolia
Remove A Bohemia
Remove F Eastern Mediterranean

France:
Build F Brest

Italy:
Build A Venice
Build A Rome
Build F Naples

Russia:
Build A Moscow

Turkey:
Remove A Ankara

We also have our first draw proposal of the game. For those that have not come across end-game proposals before, you must all vote for or against the draw proposal together
with your moves for the Spring 05 season. All remaining players must vote in favour for the end-game proposal to succeed, any abstentions count as a 'no' vote. Therefore, all six players must vote 'yes'. The vote is anonymous, as is the end-game proposal itself. If the end-game proposal succeeds, it is announced before the Spring 05 moves are adjudicated. The deadline for the vote is the same as the deadline for the Spring 05 moves, and you can change your vote anytime you like up to the move deadline.

The end-game proposal is for a three way draw including France, Italy and Russia. If carried, these three players will be credited with a 'draw', and the other three players will be credited with a 'survival'.

The deadline for your Spring 05 moves, and your EGP votes, is Sunday 17 July 2000GMT, by which point I'll be a year older - it's
my birthday Saturday, so I'll expect some virtual beer to be submitted along with your moves and votes...  Smile

Enjoy the hot weather everyone,

Jerome

dc384 Autumn 05 adjudication stands - jerome777   (Jul 11, 2011, 3:25 am)
Hi everyone,

First of all let me say that I'm very pleased that all is OK with Grant and his family. It's important to remember that Diplomacy is only a game, and that there are some things far more important than this.

Even though I feel sympathy for Grant and his position, and I'm sure that Grant is being honest in saying he sent me moves before looking at the adjudication, I'm unwilling to readjudicate the move set - let me try to explain why.

I received Grant's moves at 0010GMT Monday 11 July, four hours ten minutes after the deadline, and three hours 58 minutes after I had adjudicated the moves for the turn. One way of looking at the deadline is as the earliest time that I can make the adjudication for the turn. Whilst I'm happy to accept moves any time up to the adjudication, once the deadline has passed you should all assume that the adjudication can be made any time after this.

As Gerry said, it's a good idea to get some preliminary moves to me well before the deadline even if you think you might subsequently change them. Also, I am more than happy to delay the deadline for any of you, should real life get in the way of finalising your moves.

Given the circumstances, and the fact that I believe the NMR to be in extenuating circumstances, I think the fairest way for me to proceed is to refuse the request to include Grant's moves this time, but to ignore the NMR - i.e. not record the NMR as a black mark against Grant's profile, nor to hold strictly to the rule saying 'two consecutive NMRs and you're out the game' (as happened to the original Russia and Turkey in this game). I hope you can all understand the position I'm in here.

Please submit your builds and disbands by the deadline 2000GMT tonight (Monday 11 July), the deadline for Spring 1906 is Sunday 17 July 2000GMT.

Best wishes to all, particularly Grant and family,

Jerome

Good to hear all is well with your kids Grant

This is Jerome's call and Grant did miss the deadline. Without trying to sound like a nag that's why we try and send provisional orders early ( something I don't always practice ! )

Given the circumstances though I would agree to let the orders  stand give Brian's qualifier.

The time that emails are sent is displayed on emails through gmail (Im assuming it is the same with hotmail, yahoo etc). That should be some sort of evidence of the order this happened in. Im not sure if there is a way to detect the time that somebody opened an email that you sent to them - if so, then there is proof.

The children are ok now - thanks for asking Brian.

I'm willing to accept the orders submitted IF they were received by Jerome before the adjudication was mailed out. If not, as much as I'd like to let it slide, there's no way to know if the orders were genuinely written before seeing the results.

Hope everything is okay with your children, Grant!

Hi everyone

Unfortunately I missed the deadline by a few hours due to an emergency with my children. Ive sent moves to Jerome (without looking at the moves of other players). If ALL other players are happy to accept my moves would it be possible to submit them? (obviously I wont say what they are because this could affect decisions - I have sent them to Jerome though). That said, I understand if players dont want to accept them - Im still playing the game.

Cheers, Grant

dc384 Spring 05 adjudication - jerome777   (Jul 05, 2011, 12:29 am)
Hi everyone,

Italy retreats Rumania to Serbia, and admonishes me for forgetting to remind you all about Canada Day on 1 July. I have to admit, I was so busy celebrating Canada Day myself with lashings of 'Rolling Rock' beer and ice hockey DVDs that it totally slipped my mind. Anyway, consider me suitably chastened! Smile

Your deadline for Autumn 1905 moves is Sunday 10 July 2000GMT.

Take care,

Jerome

dc384 Winter 1904 deadline extension - jerome777   (Jun 28, 2011, 3:02 pm)
Hi everyone,

Although the deadline for the Winter 04 builds and disbands has now passed, I'm going to give 24 hours grace since there are two players from whom I've not received their build/disband instructions. I think an auto-adjudicate might affect the game unfairly at this point, compared to the inconvenience of waiting 24 hours to get the Spring 05 negotiations underway, so I'm willing to give 24 hours to see if this can be unnecessary.

Therefore, I'm going to extend the Winter 04 deadline to 2000GMT tomorrow (Wednesday 29 June), and also send emails to the affected players asking them to submit their orders. I will adjudicate either once both players have responded, or at 2000GMT tomorrow, whichever comes first. I will definitely
auto-adjudicate at this point if necessary, in line with the DC house rules. In the meantime, if any player that has submitted their builds chooses to do so, they can submit new build orders anytime up to the adjudication.

I'll delay the Spring 1905 moves deadline by 24 hours to 2000GMT Monday 4 July, and if there are any retreats from Spring 05, these will be due for 2000GMT Tuesday 5 July.

Stay cool,

Jerome

Hi everyone,

The??builds are in, and your build/disband statistics are given
below.??England NDR'ed his disband, so I have disbanded Yorkshire as this is
the one of England's two units which is not occupying a home SC (the nearest
to home SC disband house rule applies).

The deadline for the Spring 1904 moves is Sunday 19 June 2000GMT.

England:
NDR - Remove A Yorkshire (per DC house rules - NMR 1.1)

France:
Build A Paris

Germany:
Build A Berlin

Italy:
Build A Rome

Take care,
