Farsightedness: The Butterfly Effect states that a butterfly that flaps its wings in Malaysia could cause a typhoon in British Columbia. So too could minor variations in one part of the board affect play across the board. The Captain of Watch asesses the board for all possible impacts - both immediate and long-term.

Didn't mean to imply any criticism in regards to
the Italian situation in my football analogy. After all, in the beautiful game
you don't have a third team involved. Just wanted to note that since having
reread my remarks, I can see how my comments might be taken as overstepping the
bounds of neutral "flavour talk".
