Hey all... I'll step up to the plate with an EOG as well.
This was by far the most frustrating game I've had in the days I've been playing Dip. Every time I thought I had an alliance of some sort they dissolved into nothing (or I broke them). Right off the hop I had suspicions of the Trolls/Rogues/Magicians, so I set up an equal force of Pirates/Hobbits/Samurai. When the T/R attacked Magicians, I thought "great, now the three of us can roll in there." Alas, Hobbits and Samurai came to blows over the Enchanted Isles and I had to pick a side, so away with the Hobbits as I worked with the Wizards now.
All that time, the old Ogres and I had an overall plan that included working with Trolls for a while to take out the Undead, because he was really annoying at the first, then continue on to the north, but then Ogres and Undead
both changed hands and that plan evaporated.
Meanwhile, I was trying very hard to be on the good side of Suzanne with the Archers, but apparently none of my emails went through. I was still convinced that P/A was the way to go, though, so I broke my alliance with the Wizards and betrayed him to the new Ogres. Eventually, however, I had nowhere to go, so I attacked the Archers after all. When they changed hands, it was too late and I was too far committed to that.
Then, Ogres started pushing me out of the south and Trolls started coming across the High Seas. They tried to tell me they weren't working together, but I never bought that story. So I gave up a few centres to them while still taking some from the Archers, which allowed me to shore up my defenses and hope to survive long enough for a survival in what I assumed would be a two-way draw.
Eventually Ogres became greedy (his words) and attacked
Trolls, at which point I was all for attacking the Trolls, but then this whole "end the game" thing started and everyone now wanted me to work with them... Ogres against the Faeries and R/F against Ogres. I went with the Ogres because I had no chance of making significant progress into those southern lines. But when I attacked Faeries and had my best chance of making headway there, Ogres lost Razors Edge and I called off the hounds, choosing to wait out the game from where I was.
So, that was the game from my perspective... I look forward to playing with (or against) you soon.
For the last time,
