Heya heya,

Well, it was with some trepidition that I took up the reigns from Felix in this one. The competition was fairly intimidating. My congratulations to Mikael and Mike for being part of the solo, and my regrets to Erik that I did not get a chance to work with you longer.

I came into the game knowing that Argentina and Chile were locked in close combat. The obvious threat, of course, was Brazil to the north. Columbia was all but mopped up, and I knew that Argentina would be next on the menu after the appetizers were done. I tried to make the least amount of offensive moves to Chile as I could, while giving Columbia what meager help I could spare. After a few turns, it looked as though Chile did get the message and we both moved to stop Brazil.

I enjoyed being a part of the game, even if it was just for a couple of turns. My thanks to Steve for giving me the chance. See you all in this years DCI!! (I hope.) =P

Cheers!

Trout

Hey guys,
From the start and the fast opening, I had pegged Brazil as Mikael… tho I had Argentina and Colombia switched. I thought it was Eric that was relentlessly attacking me but it was Felix. Once Felix got that opening move into Pam, I was horribly bottled up for the rest of the game. I got some really lucky guesses all throughout that kept me from collapsing, and eventually pushed him back bit by bit. That's the whole of the game for me… 7 years of barely skating by each turn, hoping that either Brazil would hit Argentina from the north, or Colombia would collapse fast enough that Argentina would either have to turn or the game would be a solo.

Then Trout took, I supported him a couple times, and we put up a wall that I'm pretty sure was safe. Tho there were a few guess-points in it still around Yun / Prg, I think Brazil's lack of a Pacific fleet would have been a pretty heavy counterweight. As for playing Chile, this power sucks! That long thing strip of land is so incredibly hard to defend.

Overall good game, I'm happy to be alive in it.

My notes to Steve revolving around the dci scoring… As I said to you, had Mikael soloed this game, he would have won the dci outright… so a solo / 2nd vs a 2nd / solo, the 2nd / solo would win, instead of the two players tieing. There should be a simple fix to that in the scoring, tho it was unquestionably caused by the smaller map round 2, and so some changes had to be made to make it worth playing.

For the one gunboat game I will endure per year, it was fun…
Good game all,
-mike

Subject: Dci 2007 Final Standings.

Here are the final standings for the 2007 DCI.

I would like to congratulate Mike Sims who is this year's winner. From achieving a magnificant solo in the first game against 6 very strong players, Mike was able to force the second no press gunboat game into a Draw which netted him a final win in the DCI over Mikael. Due to some discrepancies and strong emotions, i will be changing the structure of the DCI next year. However as long as Mike is an active member of DC, he has automatically qualified for the 2008 DCI.

I would like to thank Mike, Erik, felix and Mikael for playing out the second game.
Congratulations to Mike, Trout and Mikael for their draw in Dc131.

I would like to thank Trout for GMing the first game and for stepping in when no-one else would in the second game.

The official standings are;

In 1st place and 2007 Dci winner on a score of 14 is Mike.
In 2nd place on a score of 10 is Mikael.
In 3rd place on a score of 9 is Former Trout.
In 4th place on a score of 5 is Felix.
In 5th place on a score of 4.5 is Eric.
In 6th place on a score of 3.5 is Kevin.
In 7th place on a score of 2 is Ray.
In 8th place on a score of 1 is Stephen.

Congratulations Mike. The question is whether you can now hold the title in 2008.
