When you play the Game of Thrones, you win or you die. (Video to accompany game start: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7L2PVdrb_8)

And...they're off! Whether it's towards winning or towards dying, only time will tell. Most units' orders succeed, the only exceptions being the Lannister and Greyjoy fleets clashing over The Golden Sound and the Baratheons' supported move to the Stormlands overpowering the Tyrell army also attempting to move there. Elsewhere most units move to rally additional bannermen to their causes, but the Lannisters gun right for King's Landing. Can they hold it with multiple Baratheon armies on the doorstep?

In general some very interesting openings - most of you provided me with some commentary as the negotiations went on, and it is amazingly interesting to see the results having read all of those. Please please keep them coming, as I'm sure it will only become more fascinating as the game situations become more complex! And don't worry if I don't reply to commentary - trust me I'm reading it - I just don't want to get sucked into a discussion (as much as I want to) when playing the role of impartial GM. I'll try to provide commentary responses in some form at the end of the game.

With no retreats we progress directly to Fall 298, which I'll set for next Monday, April 16, at 9pm Pacific. Thanks to most of you for getting prelims in early - I'd suggest all of you do this every season - and to all of you for having orders in with time to spare.

Valar dohaeris,
Matt

First, some anonymous press:

What is dead may never die, but rises again, harder and stronger.
