Before I start, let me just say, "Thank you for the juicy, blood-thirsty start." You make it a pleasure to GM.
From the Were-Hamsters:
"We have noticed you frail humans have grouped yourselves closely around the great sea to the south, with it's warm climate and plentiful food. Our hardy race has no need for such indulgences, and we will gladly spread to only the centers in the harsh environments that you have left deserted. Our new Navy, this time fashioned from popsicle sticks and chewing gum, will stay close to shore in case of disaster, and we shall claim the frozen tundra you call Norway. Our armies seek to bring the famous Hamster Ball factories of Warsaw back to working order, while also attempting to establish a trade route in the south to insure a steady supply of food pellets to our brave War-Were-Hamsters. These are missions of peace. Leave us be, and we won't have to gnaw on your fingers. "
The Were-Hamster thrust into Armenia becomes part of a predictably acrobatic adjudication in the southeast. With six separate nations occupying outposts in the tight Sevastopol-Venice-Smyrna triangle, it was perhaps inevitable that chaos would ensue (though, for a counter-example, you might visit the DC 429 game and witness how five separate nations occupying Germany can all manage to not even attempt to move).
The Were-Hamster re-enactment of Marco Polo's journey leaves Sevastopol unoccupied, thus providing a safe retreat for the otherwise doomed Celtic fleet in Rumania. In turn, the Celts are dislodged by the advancing swallows of Zonotrichia... whose departure leaves Serbia open for a potential retreat from the Sapientan - Wu Tang conflict. Blurbia is in the middle of it all (thus feeding three stars and four exclamation points into the Blurbian economy).
This sets up a diverse panoply of opportunities for the Fall. I expect the Balkans to swim in blood, and I will go out on a limb here by predicting that at least one player (probably two) gets stabbed. I will further predict that at least one player ends the year with fewer centers than they began it. Then again, I also predicted that the English couldn't last two halves against the French in the Euro 2012.
Aloof from the fray, the DRE (the Democratic Roman Empire, which I'll just note, has yet to live up to any of its component names) and Nilleidewsia seem postively placid.
Neutrals Watch:
- Denmark, Edinburgh, Holland, Norway, and Warsaw all seem safely claimed (though there could be some sneaky guesswork in the North Sea arena);
- Greece (and all its debts) are there for Blurbia to seize (but at considerable opportunity cost);
- Ankara, Belgium, Paris, and Smyrna may all be decided by guesswork or by friendly negotiation.
There are two retreats. The Celtic Nation fleet from Rumania auto-retreats to Sevastopol; the Celts need not disturb their offseason rebuilding projects in order to submit a retreat, unless they wish to disband the fleet.
The Sapientan army in Trieste may retreat to either Albania or Serbia. Please submit your order by 2:00 p.m. (1900 GMT) tomorrow, Mr. Driscoll.
Fall 1901 will be due next Tuesday, June 19th at 2:00 CST.
We have a game site. You can drop in any time to review past adjudications or the current status:
http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/?game_id=dc430
I use email filters, so please include the game number (DC 430) in your email subject line.
Also, I have an alternate email address: AMarSchwar@yahoo.com. You can cc: orders to this address as a safeguard against things like the GM accidentally deleting your orders (not that I've EVER done that...).
Regarding orders, I try to confirm receipt of all orders, so if (after a reasonable time) you haven't heard from me, please do re-submit orders. I will be more prompt now that I've moved into my new home. I try to notify players of mistakes in orders, but I make absolutely no guarantees. I treat all movement orders as preliminary unless marked FINAL. I treat all retreats and adjustments as final unless marked PRELIMINARY. You may submit conditional orders for any season. Be forewarned that if I have difficulty deciphering the orders, I will treat ambiguities as orders to hold / disband / waive.
