Hello Everyone.

VERY IMPORTANT! READ THIS, YOU SWAG-BELLIES
We had a near misorder. I will be the first to admit I am a very liberal GM. I believe it is the responsibility of the GM to facilitate the best game, and should not be a rule nazi. That being said, I recieved this order from Russia:
Var-Gal S Ukr
First of all, it is Warsaw. Not Varsaw. Even if it is Varsaw somewhere in Russia, it is Warsaw and has always been Warsaw in Diplomacy. But I was positive which space he was indicating, it couldn't have meant Vienna nor Venice so it was pretty damn clear to me.
2nd, and the thing that got my head turning, was that it was ordered to move AND support. Since the next move was Ukr S Var - Gal I allowed it because I took it to mean "Varsaw to Galicia Supported by Ukraine". Now, as I said, I am a liberal GM. Many other GMs would count this as a misorder, but to me the intent was clear and I understand what the Russian's strategy was.
Be very careful, Russia, and everyone! I will not always be able to CLEARLY identify what you are doing, and it is not my job to do so. Later in the game, as the moves are not so obvious I will have trouble with this and if I have to think about it, I will probably mark it wrong. Understand that S is the abbreviation for Supports. That isn't my interpretation, that is the interpretation of most every GM that has GM'd ever, and will be for you too when and if you GM.
And those of you, most likely Turkey or Austria, who wish to contend that I should be marking it a misorder, please spare your breath. It is my ruling and it will not be overturned.
