PREV  Fall 1901 Adjudication:  NEXT

The armies of Europe Clash!
After very little conflict in the Spring the nations erupted in battle in the Fall. With the assistance of French troops the Austrian army was able to push forward into Venice. The Italian fleet, however, was able to land in Tunis where it discovered that even among the African nations the dead are rising. Meanwhile the Austrian fleet, with tactical support from their brothers in Serbia has, taken Greece! All is not well on the Austrian front, however, as the Russian forces march into Budapest. But in the North the slumbering bear did not fare so well, where it's fleets were repelled from the Swedish coastline by German troops.

Only in England was there general calm, the fleets of the Norwegian Sea landing on Norway's shores and troops being conveyed from Edinburgh to Belgium with the assistance of the fleet stationed in the North Sea. This has led to some speculation among media sources that England's relative isolation has spared it from the largest outbreaks of what is now being called the Walking Curse. In the far Western regions of Europe the Spaniard and Portuguese were glad to see the French troops, assuming they were there to save the citizens from the zombie uprising. But troops, fearing infection, began to raze entire cities.

Paris Gazzette, October 30, 1901
NEWS FROM THE FRONT
It was recently learned that the General in charge of the Marseilles garrison took his army into the field last April when his scouts witnessed a Carthaginian host rising from the soil at the foot of the Piedmont Alps. Believing it to be his duty, he ordered his men to march after Zombie Hannibal's army and is believed to be on its heals through the passes of the Alps. General Nivelle was quoted saying "I will bring down that pile of rotting flesh if I must march all the way to Rome to do so!" He claims he tried to send emissaries to the Italian government informing them of his actions, but a new fashion in Italian cuisine has led to a shortage of human brains, and the messengers were killed for sauce.

In retaliation, the remaining forces of France mobilized (in the other direction, of course) and plan to eat the brains of the Spanish Court.
In other news, Parliament has passed a bill requiring all citizens to wear steel chastity belts on their heads to keep their brains safe. Suppliers are baffled by the influx of orders as they never even tried to sell their products here.

Taken from an intercepted German communique:
We literally told the Russians to do anything BUT go to Gal, and we would let them take Sweden so that they could marvel at their pretty ladies. I suppose they preferred to look at Austrian towns from the Galician heights.
