"The Nilleidewsians claimed they were building cheap furniture at their massive factories, but I have discovered the truth! Soldiers! Tanks! Warships! These are no harmless survivors from the last great war as they claimed. They were one of the nations that stood idly by, watching as the disease that decimated our people was produced and applied. And now they seek to harm us once again. It is believed they are trying to redevelop the chemicals that once crippled our nation. Hamster High Command, I urge an immediate strike on their military. They must be stopped before they complete their evil plot. Time is of the essence.

It's an old idea -- 1492, "War of the Worlds", "The Martian Chronicles" -- a strange race, perhaps a formiddable foe... destroyed by disease, helpless to sustain itself against a miniscule germ.
But antibiotics and the pesticide treadmill offer us another model: decimated by a pharmaceuticals and chemicals only to return more virulent and unstoppable. This is the Were-Hamster plan. Like the Wizard of Yendor, you can kill him once, but he'll be back.
There is more exciting give-and-take between the Hamsters and their Nilleidewsian nemeses. Mostly, it's mass cancellations, but the Hamsters do occupy Berlin (not to mention Sevastopol).

The Balkans likewise awake to battle. Soldiers in purple and pink plus jewel-laden necklaces come storming into Serbia, where they fly the double-snake flag above the nation's whorehouses. Method Man proclaims the army's victory:
"Clip is loaded when I click bang dang
A Wu-Tang slug hits your brain"
And the rest of his speech is far too vulgar and foul to re-print here.

Sapienta loses his army in Apulia but joins with Zonotrichia to seize Bulgaria.(it's a sort of Wonder Twins moment... "Form of a waterfall!") Sadly, the waterfall strikes a vacant Bulgaria, as the Blurbians safely retreat to Constantinople and Smyrna.

Meanwhile, technical problems prevent the DRE fleet from leaving dry dock. Even so, developments in the DRE certainly merit observation.

There are no retreats (as the only dislodged unit has no safe retreat). So, Fall 1903 -- and it should be a good Fall 1903 -- comes next Thursday, July 19, at the inestimable hour of 2:00 p.m. CST.
