Fresh spurred his horse on and fired another shot deliberately over the heads of the routing Russian infantry. Along the line his 'fellow' Yugoslavian dragoons were demonstrating rather less mercy on the retreating foot soldiers.

Fresh called for re-group as the ground beneath them grew steeper and the woodland around them grew thicker. The unit made a tidy arch back down the slope through the trees, as the remains of the Russian guard escaped into the darkness of the forest.

Within hours, riders from Rumania confirmed that the action had lead to victory in Sevastopol, as well as the subjugation of the Russian populace in Bucharest .
