PREV  Fall 1904 Adjudication:  NEXT

"It should appear that Russia might have derived an early and rapid improvement from her peculiar connection with the church and state of Constantinople, which at that age so justly despised the ignorance of the Latins. But the Byzantine nation was servile, solitary, and verging to a hasty decline: after the fall of Kiow, the navigation of the Borysthenes was forgotten; the great princes of Wolodomir and Moscow were separated from the sea and Christendom; and the divided monarchy was oppressed by the ignominy and blindness of Tartar servitude." Gibbon, Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, Chapter LV

Gentlemen: There's some improvement over the Spring here, in game terms, as 4 units move into spaces that were not behind their own lines. There's also a spectacular battle in Galicia - 5 armies from 3 nations involved! The Russian fails to raise a finger to defend his homeland, and consequentially loses Moscow (A Gal - War would have spared the capital). Turkey continues his robust defense, and Italy cowers in fear of the approaching French forces.

Since only 2 players have autumn and winter adjustments due, I will require those together (unless there is an objection). Russia, you may retreat Moscow to Ukraine or Livonia, and you must disband 2 units. England may build 2 units. Those orders are due by midnight Friday.

Turkey incurred a delay on this turn, his first.
