PREV  Winter 1998 Adjudication:  NEXT

We're back underway! The deadline for Spring 1999 will be this coming Tuesday, October 5, at 9 pm eastern. The adjustments are listed below the press.

Remember that we have two different proposals, one for a German solo and one for a Polish solo, so include your votes for those with your spring orders.

Matt

Press #1:
Press:
Poland to Ukraine:
Understood and congratz. Nice to finally hear from you! I appreciate the wall you have made, and that's why I've not attacked (and twarting Russia's predictions ;) ). As long as I'm still around, you will get a survival at least; now let's work on getting you rolling. Can you causally slide east to bother a certain fleet?

Poland to Egypt:
Welcome to the game! Thank you for joining us. I think Mario has an outstanding offer for you for a picnic complete with turkey sandwiches.

Press #2:
*Egypt to Poland*: Awesome game. I'm not sure how you got all your neighbors to be so tactically misaligned, but damn!

*Egypt to Germany*: Hombre, put the kill shot on England. But please mind your eastern borders. Poland is about to make a grab for the solo, and he needs to be fenced in.
*Egypt to Ukraine*: em, how do I say this politely ... nice knowing ya!

*Egypt to Spain*: Tough game.

*Egypt to England*: You're in a tight spot. Elimination is likely. Perhaps France would guarantee your survival if you helped support him into Iberia?

*Egypt to France/Italy/Germany*: Gents, please stop fighting. At this point the most likely outcome is a Polish solo (next target: Ukraine). But if EFIG hold together and grow off the scraps of Spain, Turkey, and England, we can force ourselves into draw with Poland. We each have obvious growth paths, and little to gain by fighting in middle. As a trust building measure, support your fronts, but don't attack each other. From there you can start positioning your armies to defend against Poland. It's easy. Peace & love! If you agree with this idea, please let us know during the spring moves.

*Egypt to Italy*: Mario & Luigi, benvenuti! I accept you invite to the party ... I'll bring the cranberry sauce! But I need some help getting there. Could you to move F Mal-Lyn during spring, and then support F Isr into the Emed during the fall. From there, it's party time. I was hoping for roasted Turkey, but I can gobble down a ground Turkey burger. mmm

Important Note: We can't be friends unless you restrict yourself to a single fleet in Tyr, Mal, and Lbn. OK?

_Spring_
I: F Mal-Lbn
T: F Ale-Emed
T: F Isr S F Ale-Emed

_Fall_
I: F Lbn S F Isr-Emed
T: F Ale S F Isr-Emed
T: F Isr-Emed

*Egypt to Turkey*: If you have an interesting plan, I will totally reconsider.

Press #3:
Press:
Poland to Egypt: We have no intentions of moving to Saudi Arabia. We have heard there is no liquor there, so it would be of no benefit to Kazimierz's Liquor Emporium. On the other hand, we've heard only good things about Turkish raki. We won't touch Ukraine; he's been peaceful. And we won't touch you if you help us against the Turk.

Ukraine to Egypt: It's so hard to tell whether these Turkish fleets off our coasts are belligerent or friendly! So far, the Turk has been the most trustworthy player on the map, but I'm still nervous. How about you? All units support each other!

Spain to Egypt: Will anybody help me out here? I need to get rid of these damned English. If they won't walk away on their own, will you send a fleet over here to boot them out of Gibraltar? I'd rather see the Caliphate restored in Spain than the Napoleonic occupation.

Italia to Egitto: So, we hear-a that youse entahtainin all da ambassador in party today. Itsa nice party, I gotta say. Woulda been nice if you invited our Peach. We sorta stalking her, and she no wanna see us no more. Luigi here, he very sorry about da misunderstandin wid Tunis. Now please accept invitation to come in our supply centa. They's a very nice ones. Napoli, you will find lotsa people like Egitto better than Turkey. And Roma, is very nice in autumn.
France to Egypt: This Spaniard is tough to chew, like a piece of gristle. Want to swing a fleet into Western Med? I'll support you into Barcelona, especially if you can convoy: we need armies in Spain. This isn't just to stop Spain, it's to stop the German-Pollock juggernaut. Spain will help them win if he isn't eliminated; I can't stand against Germany and Spain together if England falls, and Spain is seducing England into walking away from what could be his last 2 SC. As much as I appreciate your assistance against Italy, I think knocking out Spain is actually more urgent for stopping Germany and Poland.

Germany to Egypt: Could you give the Italian back Tunis? He's going to need it when I take all his northern SC to fund my war against England and France.
Turkey to Egypt: Please get an army out to defend Saudi. I'll help you into Iran if I can. We can't afford a Polish army in our rear. This Pollock is playing Ukraine like a harp; stringing him along as he gets all his armies into perfect position. On the Mediterranean front, any help you can offer me and France against Italy is appreciated. Remember, he was all too happy to take your SC when he was up, and I haven't breached our agreements once. If you can get an army into Italy (or even Spain!) that would give our resistance a real chance.

Egypt to Egypt: Holy crap! Who wasted their time writing all this nonsense? I know that one of these is true: which one?

Press #4:
Im sorry but statements like this make me want to puke, grow some for gods sake. fight!

'You can take me if you want, but I've been thwarting Turkish expansion and have left you in peace to pursue your other endeavors. I can continue to help. I'll help you take Turkey or otherwise. I'd like to survive this game but have no grander aspirations.'
