There is only one retreat: French A Als may retreat to Par, Pic, or OTB. That retreat and any summer press releases are due tomorrow, Friday October 8, at 9 pm eastern time.
Both solo proposals failed (German solo by a vote of 3 yes, 2 no, 5 abstain and Polish solo by a vote of 4 yes, 1 no, and 5 abstain) and there are no new proposals at this time.

Press #1:
France to Egypt - We support your idea of a southwestern alliance against Poland and Germany, but it has to include Turkey. Ukraine has done nothing but support his own supply centers since the first two years, and Turkey has put up a vigorous defense while remaining true to both Ukraine and your predecessor. Italy, meanwhile, has been actively allied with P/G since Day 1, and has shown himself quite untrustworthy, stabbing Egypt and Turkey for random supply centers. He has also attacked me relentlessly, successfully losing Milan in his relentless advance. Please help dismantle Spain so that I can fight Germany; Spain (understandably) wants my head on a platter, and has enough power to eviscerate my defenses against Germany.
France to England - I hope I guessed right on Spain's moves this turn. If he took Seville from you, I'll either hit Portugal or support you into Portugal; let me know which one you'd prefer with your summer retreat. If he didn't take Seville, can you support me into Portugal in the fall?
France to Turkey: I hope Egypt didn't do too much to you this turn. Don't attack him back: the only way the Southwestern Alliance holds in this game is if you and Egypt work together against the PIG!
France to Ukraine: This is what you've been practicing for all game: hold those home supply centers! Don't let Poland roll over you. If you let him use you to weaken Turkey, he'll just eat you up when Turkey is too weak to be a threat. Those Pollocks like Chicken Kiev as much as they like Deep-Fried Turkey.

ITALIAN PRESS - Spring 1999
Mario & Luigi apologize for being less conversational than usual. They are so wrapped up with preparations for the big party, they barely had time to dictate a few quick notes for their friends.
To Egypt: Welcome, welcome! So happy you can make it to the party. Sorry we don't have F Maltese any more, but you should do just fine without it. You have our permission to take F Tunis through Maltese if you wish, though our friend in Spain could use your help, too.
To Germany: We do so hope you arrived safely in Austria. If it seems feasible, would you support Venice to Milan in the Fall? We are willing to gamble Venice or Croatia, though we hope U or P in Hungary will help there.
To Poland: Are you in Hungary? If so, support to Serbia would be much appreciated.
To Ukraine: See message to Poland, though we will understand if you have other troubles. Still, if A Podolia is holding, you could support us, right? If we are in Greece, we will support you to Bulgaria.
To Turkey: Don't forget to wear your good clothes. Everyone is looking forward to the dressing. Ha, ha! We make joke in English.
Ciao, everyone! See you at the party!

Press #4:
Egypt to Poland: I'll help you against Turkey, but please don't head south of Iran. Deal? If you land in Iran next round that's because the Turk is going for Saudi Arabia. Let him have it ... it's non-strategic SC and he's harmless down there. But please do support F Syr into Ada ... I'll count on it! NOTE: I'm simply looking for Egypt to be included in a draw. If you are OK with that in principle, we can be great friends.
Egypt to Germany: Give Italy back Tunis? I'll trade it for Ireland.
Egypt to France: Offer accepted. I will convoy an army into Barcelona. Please support A Alg - Bar. How would you like to split Iberia? Also, do you concur with allowing England to survive in Gib (in exchange for his support)?
Egypt to England: If you agree to help Egypt and France eliminate Spain, I'll guarantee you Gib. Deal? All you need to do is cut the support from the Spanish armies next turn. I know, not the best offer you ever had. But I'm a straight shooter, and it's not a bad deal given your precarious situation.
Egypt to Italy: I see you got rid of Mal. Thanks. That was a nice gesture! Let's talk Turkey ... I'm moving towards Turkey. From there the fun begins! Q: would you agree to a DMZ in Tyr and Mal?
Egypt to Turkey: Army in Ada? I thought for sure you would build a fleet. I'm making aggressive actions against Turkey, but that's because both Italy and Poland offered to help stuff you. Make me an offer ...
Press #5:
Spain waits to see which way the new Egypt wishes to go. I don't think helping France into Barcelona will help anyone now, I would be happy to see you in the eastern med.
Spain to France: What now? Are you leaving my peninsula alone now to attempt to stop some of your larger foes? Move your fleet away up the coast and I might be willing to leave you alone as well. I can see the logic of preventing certain solos. That fleet might be valuable for that.
Spain to England: Thank you OR please reconsider. I am sincere about Gibralter.
Press #6:
Poland to Germany:
Moving north per agreement. Let me know if you'd like a fleet support from NOR or a friendly in NWG.
Poland to Italy:
Per invitation, I'm hungry and looking for the picnic basket.
Poland to Egypt:
Ah, the Brigade offers up an instigator from the safety of a corner position. This game is anything but mine as I count 3 countries in very good position with an opportunity to expand against collapsing opponents. You're not one of them, so I see your desire to stir the pot. Good luck and please accept this shipment of vodka with my regards. Its nice to finally see an active and engaged Egypt!
Poland to Turkey:
You've treated me well. Irrespective of any conflicts in the Balkins, I'd like to take Iran for obvious reasons. Assuming we bounced this past turn, if you stand down, IRN won't attack ADA and ADA can protect from a southern picnic goer.
Press #7:
Turk to Poland
great, well there is no way im going to support a replacement getting into the finish position, id rather see a Polish solo, you deserve it. So, pole I will do everything in my power to support you, Feel free to take my sc if you wish. Id wish you luck but with the lilly livered ukraine i dont think you need it. Meanwhile I fight to keep the egyptian small, till my (probably quick) death.
Turk to the rest of the world
i cant say ive enjoyed this game, though our Italian press has been most entertaining. A fast death would be apreciated
