We have our first elimination! After many hard fought years Russia has finally been reduced to 0 centers. I want to thank our Russian leader (whose identity shall remain hidden until the end of the game) for continuing to submit orders until the bitter end.
In other news Poland continues to grow by assimilating the spring gain of Iran and using Ukrainian support to capture Hungary. Germany also gets bigger by taking control of Ireland, although France does succeed in booting him from non-center Alsace. Elsewhere there the high number of bounces and failed orders continues; we'll have to wait until the turn of the millennium to see who breaks through!
There is one retreat: German A Als may retreat to Pic, Ruh, or OTB. That retreat and any Autumn 1999 press is due tomorrow, Wednesday, October 13, at 9 pm eastern.
Both draw proposals failed. The 7-way draw was shot down by a vote of 5 yes, 1 no, and 4 abstain, and the 4-way draw was shot down by a vote of 4 yes, 2 no, and 4 abstain. There are not currently any standing proposals.
