PREV  Winter 1576 Adjudication:  NEXT

Upon the Chrysanthemum Throne now sits a new Shogun. Sandor Marton, previously Daimyo of the Takeda clan, has claimed victory and forged a new dynasty for Japan!

Congratulations to Sandor for an impressive solo victory, especially considering it is his first game on DipCorp. Often the adjustment to email speeds can disrupt the rhythm of even the best players, but through a quick and aggressive start followed by what I presume must be cunning diplomacy to get Asakura to play kingmaker led to a decisive victory in which the Takeda gained builds every year. Certainly all eyes are on Asakura for an AAR as to why exactly the decision was made to turn away from Takeda to allow the game to end in this way. Commiserations to the stable Chosokabe/Mori pact, who fought together the entire way and were leading the fight to keep victory out of Takeda's hands alone. Honorable mention as well to the Hojo, who made a valiant effort to stab Takeda, but it occurred at the same time as a Takeda stab, and support from the south did not come in time.

Thank you everyone for playing! Sandor, Jeff, Charles, Shaun, thank you for playing to the end. Mark, Angelo, Patrick, Roger, thank you for participating! Below you will find the Fall 1576 orders and their ensuing retreats, as well as the final result scoreboard, SC count, and list of SCs owned. Also attached are the final maps for these last phases, together with a graph and table of the results over the years of gameplay. I look forward to hearing from all of you how this game went from your side, in particular if the neutral SCs forced you to adjust typical early-game strategy. That was a very unique feature of this variant that added both depth and complication, I'm sure.

Looking to the future, I welcome all of you to join another game. Aside from the usual standard, there's two variants open if you want to continue to travel around the Pacific. SE Asia is nearly full, and I've just opened up a five-player gunboat South America.
