PREV  Summer 2001 Adjudication:  NEXT

Italy retreats A Ven - Cro. A player has asked for an extension, so I am going to tentatively set the Fall 2001 deadline for a week from tomorrow, Friday, November 26, at 9 pm eastern. I realize this is the day after Thanksgiving here in the States, but I'm hoping that, as this is a gunboat game, everyone can find some time in the next week to submit orders. However, if the holiday is going to pose a problem let me know and I can push the deadline back further.

Remember to submit your votes for the EFGPT draw with your orders!

Matt

Press #1:
Egypt to Germany/France: I am reluctant to provide France support into Austria now that Germany is finally moving against Poland. Perhaps we can come to a deal: France supports A York into London with its fleet and moves A Bel - Hol, while Germany moves A Pic - Bel. That french army can then just pass through on its way to the front lines.

Egypt to Turkey: Thanks for moving out of Emed. I'm happy to make it a DMZ - we can both use our forces more effectively elsewhere. But I think you screwed yourself by supporting Poland into Irak; he snaked two of your SCs last round, and Ada is next. Wish I could help, but I need to cover Saudi Arabia.

Egypt to Italy: I am a gonna get you. But nice decoy messages last round!!

Egypt to England: How about convoying A Mor - Gib? From there we can provide mutual support, and I'll help ensure you survive. I'll be able to use the extra build to fight Poland. OK. Fat chance, right ... but what's the difference between 1 and 2 SCs?

Press #3:
Poland to Germany: Yikes man. I hadn't realized you felt that way. You don't call you don't write.

Let's resolve this peacefully my friend. I've consistantly support you and you me. You don't have to do this and its not in your self-interest. And I'm still willing to continue our alliance.

Realistically, the best I can hope for from this game is the G/P or G/P/T. The main point is seeing the central powers win and proving a 3 SC central power can be viable (if a bit dumb to have on this crowded map). I'm not really interested in a 5-way draw and I'm not going to be able to solo. The lack of northern fleets, a Med home SC, and a solid German wall (and my unwillingness to attack you) means best case scenario, I can get to 30 scs.

Look, bottom line if you hit me, France has no reason to stop hitting you (although I suspect he will for a couple turns). Even if you make major headway, you become the Big Man on Board and he's got to stop you from soloing too. Us fighting just gives him time to mop up Spain and Italy and you're throwing Italy to the wolves.

Poland to Turkey: I appreciate your vasselship (and appreciate the support to IRK), but with the fleets moving northward, I am concerned that you aren't as willing as you say. From your previous comments, you were looking for me to move south and relieve you. I was doing so, but honestly, I can't go further than the Med without a home SC to build fleets, so there really is no reason to venture further south than the Black Sea.

If you're willing to honestly move on Egypt, my forces stand ready to assist. And I will stop my aggression. As I told Germany, G/P/T draw is acceptable to me.

Poland to Egypt: No offense of course, I appreciate the Light Brigade volunteers, but us central powers are jealous of the corner positions. So I'm with Turkey if he's still willing.

Poland to Italy: Egypt's attack sucks man. I wish I could help.

Press #4:
To France: Please move away your Army Belgium back to Alsace and don't try to enter my land, or I will turn back on you and surrender to Poland for his solo.

To Turkey: You try to be Polish servant, and Poland turn on you... you think it is worth? Come on, join us.

To Egypt: I think you need to help Turkey at Middle East. Polish armies are pushing South. And please stop your advancement at Northern Italy.

Press #5:
France to Germany: I'll move A Bel-Pic with support so you can disband that army and rebuild it on the Polish front. I'll also support you into Austria. I'll support you into London this turn on the condition that I can take either London or Belgium from you later in the game if/when you don't need builds so urgently. If you have instructed otherwise, I'll go with what you said.
France to Egypt: I'll support you in Venice unless you instruct me otherwise. Mind if I get one of these Italian centers eventually? I'd like to get troops to the front through Venice.
France to Spain: If you want to stay in France, can you bounce me in Paris? However, it looks like you might need your army in Iberia for other purposes, so feel free to head home.
France to Turkey: Come on, return to the Light Side! This is the chance we've been waiting for all game. What is this magic spell that Poland puts on all his neighbors that makes them want to be conquered?
France to Italy: Your patrons have split. You can redeem yourself by joining the battle against the Pollock Warlock, who has most likely bewitched your precious Peach. Protect your own centers in Croatia and Serbia and you will be spared.
France to England: you are out of the family.

Press #6:
Turkey to the world
So finally the penny drops, but alas too late I fear. Had the Egyptian got the message sooner i might have been able to hold the polish advance. The sad thing from the perspective of the other players is that Poland hasnt had to fight much for his solo, hes been very lucky with his neighbours incompetence/NMR. However he has managed his position well and i take nothing away from his impending win. If anyone can see how that can be stopped then please enlighten me.
Turkey to Poland
I extend the hand of friendship and you hit me in the balls? well done my man, well done!
