PREV  Winter 1909 Adjudication:  NEXT

"Peace descends across Europe, jubilation in the streets of Rome!"

"Guns fall silent after massive naval battles in Western Med and St Petersburg regions, and last-ditch man-to-man fighting in central German plain!"

"Missing Italian cat turns up hiding in Venetian blinds, er, home for blind veterans in Venice!"

Anonymous press: 'Il Presidente wishes to thank and commend all his opponents on a well fought campaign and promises to rule Europe with peace, papacy and pasta ! A very expensive bottle of olive oil (extra virgin of course) has been dispatched to the Czar . A crate of Italian wine has been shipped to M le Président of France in the hopes that he "will get used to it" .'

Hi everyone,

Well, the war is won! Congratulations to Gerry on his solo victory, and thank you all for playing your part in what was a very interesting game to watch.

I'd really appreciate it if you would all contribute some comments as to how you saw the game progressing from your own perspective. End-game-statements (EGS) can be posted really easily by selecting the 'reply-all' function on your email programme and replying-all to this message. This will post your comments onto the dc384 message board for all to see - not just the players in this game, but the many others that were following your moves and my adjudications from the sidelines.

Here's the final set of moves:

France:
F Baltic Sea - Berlin (*Fails*)
F Barents Sea Supports A St Petersburg
A Burgundy Supports F Spain(sc) - Marseilles
F Gulf of Lyon Supports F Spain(sc) - Marseilles (*Cut*)
A Holland Supports A Ruhr - Kiel
F Mid-Atlantic Ocean - Western Mediterranean (*Fails*)
F North Africa Supports F Mid-Atlantic Ocean - Western Mediterranean
A Norway - Sweden
A Ruhr - Kiel
F Spain(sc) - Marseilles
A St Petersburg Hold
F Sweden - Denmark

Italy:
A Bohemia Supports A Munich
F Ionian Sea Supports F Tunis
A Marseilles - Spain (*Dislodged* - autoretreated to Piedmont)
A Moscow Supports A Silesia - Warsaw
A Munich Supports A Berlin
A Naples Hold
F Rumania - Bulgaria(ec)
A Silesia - Warsaw
F Tunis Supports F Western Mediterranean
F Tuscany - Gulf of Lyon (*Fails*)
A Tyrolia Supports A Munich
F Tyrrhenian Sea Supports F Western Mediterranean
A Vienna - Budapest
F Western Mediterranean Supports A Marseilles - Spain (*Cut*)

Russia:
A Berlin Supports A Kiel (*Cut*)
A Kiel Hold (*Disbanded*)
A Livonia - St Petersburg (*Fails*)
F Prussia Supports A Berlin
A Warsaw - Ukraine

Out of interest, the draw proposal for this turn failed. Although Italy has been dislodged from Marseilles, I've auto-adjudicated a retreat to Piedmont as this has no effect upon the solo outcome.

The final statistics are as follows:

Austria: Supp 0
England: Supp 0

France: Supp 15
Germany: Supp 0
Italy: Supp 18

Russia: Supp 1

Turkey: Supp 0

Finally, a few brief comments from me. It's been a real pleasure GMing the game for you guys, I really hope to see you all again soon at what is indisputably the best Diplomacy site on the Net, diplomaticcorp.com. Maybe I'll cross swords with you in a game myself, who knows?

Secondly, we really need GMs at the dc site. If you've ever fancied being a GM, then let me know and I'll tell you anything you want to know about the role. Of course, games can't run without volunteer GMs, so why not give it a go?

Finally, I'm hoping to run a game of the popular 70s variant 'Shift-Right' at the dc site but we've been stuck on six players for about a month now! If you fancy giving it a go, please do sign up so that we can all get going.

I'm really looking forwards to seeing some EGSs up on the dc384 messageboard soon.

Stay chilled y'all,

Jerome
