PREV  Summer 1913 Adjudication:  NEXT

Gentlemen, the game has come to a well-earned draw. After two hundred and eight days, peace has been declared with Turkey the runaway leader, sitting one centre shy of the solo victory. Tremendous accolades go out to Patrick for his performance, but equally deserving of praise are the coalition of Bryan, Joshua, Rory, and Ross, who managed to pull together the great pact and hold off the Sultan. Such an accomplishment is exceptional in ordinary circumstances, but faced with the obstacles of Gunboat, primarily that Patrick could see all inter-coalition press, make this an even more remarkable conclusion to our game. There were a myriad of occasions when the game could have gone either way. Joshua's brilliant move into Egypt seemed to take the wind out of the Turkish sails and possibly even open up a new decade of conflict, but Patrick recovered brilliantly and maintained his hold on the East. Conversely, at one point the orders were so arranged that Patrick would have claimed Morocco, until a late change snatched victory away. This was truly a noteworthy game, and I would be very interested to hear your sides of events.

Using the 1900 variant brought a great degree of intrigue to the otherwise-standard game. Russia's Emergency Measures was integral to maintaining the eastern flank, while the half-strength connection between Egypt/Hejaz and Mid Atlantic made the late game particularly fascinating. In my opinion, this might have been one of the most enjoyable games I've ever GMed, and I would like to thank all of you for being a part of it and seeing it through to the end. There wasn't much press this game, which I felt was unusual for a game like this, but it proved to make less of a difference than I might have thought. We may have reached the Goldilocks of press: not too much, not too little, just right. Here for your enjoyment are the final results:

1. Turkey - Patrick Cloutier (BaronVonPWN) - 17 centres, draw
2. Germany - Ross Webb (rosswebb) - 9 centres, draw
3. Britain - Joshua Tag (sanjat312) - 6 centres, draw
4. France - Rory Noble (rnoble59) - 5 centres, draw
5. Russia - Bryan LaFerriere (Operations) - 2 centres, draw
6. Italy - Jerome Payne (jerome777) - eliminated 1911
7. Austria - Michael Penner (Viper) - eliminated 1906

There is still the Spring 1913 adjudication, which I will run purely for transparency. Gentlemen, the game is over. I thank you all.

Diplomacy games may contain lying, stabbing, or deliberately deceiving communications that may not be suitable for and may pose a hazard to young children, gullible adults, and small farm animals.
