PREV  Fall 1916 Adjudication:  NEXT

Welcome, Players!

Welcome back to The Gumball Lounge for our weekly Wednesday rendezvous! It's good to see you all in your places once again, ready for a little good cheer and confrontation. As 1916 draws to a close, it looks as though we can score this as another Hapsburg triumph. To wit:

. Having destroyed the Russian army in Sevastopol last Spring, the mighty red army does the same to the Germans in Warsaw this turn. Add those two moves together and Austria gains one SC, giving us a three-way tie at the top of the standings.

. Is our new Kaiser starting to realize that nothing comes easy in Gumball? Attacks on Austria, Russia and England are all unsuccessful, not that any of them were supported. One wonders if he is really treating this campaign with the proper degree of... seriousness.

. If you haven't already, check out the crazy border between our two central powers. Remember just a few turns ago when it looked like we had a nice stable stalemate line forming? Hurrah for chaos!

. Russia tries to sit tight and support himself, only to find both supports cut. But no matter, no one bothered to attack in force... this time... so he's solid on two SC for this year.

. Italy and France perform their usual headbutt ballet, but with even more complex choreography than usual. Bangity-bang-bang go the big ship's guns, but in the end, the move that matters might be that little green army slipping into Piedmont.

. England saves Edinburgh and stays on 2 SC. The race with Russia for 5th place is still going hot and heavy!

. And lastly, more amusing shenanigans from the German army in Belgium. Wonder if we'll see any more of that in the future, now that there are Austrians knocking on the door of Berlin and Munich. Nero fiddled. Kaiser cavorts?

Side note: I'm all in favor of lightening the mood. This isn't exactly life or death now, is it? However, we do have some basic rules. You can submit a silly order, but it has to be for a REAL unit. I can't publish orders for units that aren't yours or that don't exist. Sorry. Think about it for a minute, and you'll see why. Communication is supposed to be difficult in gunboat. If you're willing to forgo moving a real unit for a turn to communicate, that's fine, but there are no freebies.

RETREATS: None. German army Warsaw is disbanded.

ADJUSTMENTS: Germany didn't lose any owned dots, so he gets to rebuild a unit at home. Austria is plus one thanks to Sevastopol. Russia is down one, but the unit already went "Poof!" so he has no adjustments to make. See below for full EOY status.

DEADLINE: Winter adjustments are due Friday, December 17, at 8:00 p.m. EST. If I get them tomorrow, I will post the results Thursday night.

LOOKING AHEAD: I'm not going anywhere over the holidays, but perhaps some of you are? I'd like to get in the turn before Christmas, even if we have to move it up a little. Let me know what you want to do for the turn between Christmas and New Years. Keep it or skip that week?

LOOKING FURTHER AHEAD: Any interest in speeding things up a little bit? We can go to two turns a week, or variable deadlines every 3-4 days. What do you think?

Cheers,
Chris
