Such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it.

PREV  Spring 1910 Adjudication:  NEXT

After nine long years of combat, the congress of London is called, the world divided up, and peace made. For nine years Emperor Nick, Kaiser Billy, and King Kevin have stood by each other against odds and temptation. And the rewards have been great. Russia and Iberia are nothing short of Italian colonies. The Balkans and Turkey are Austrian ones, Scandinavia and England German, with France having been divided up equally amongst the Central Powers. Peace has been made, and the rebuilding of Europe begun, but the former citizens of England, France, Russia, and Turkey now can only look at the history books to find their former great nations.

As should be apparent, the five hundredth and seventy-ninth game of diplomacy on diplomaticcorp has come to a close in a three-way Austria/Germany/Draw. Congratulations to Nick, Billy, and Kevin, and commiserations and thanks to Simon, Cody, John, and George for sticking it out to the end. This was certainly the wackiest game of diplomacy I've ever seen, and I've seen wacky. One game I GMed ended with an English fleet in Sevastapol, but nothing comes close to the beauty that was the Saint Petersburg - Syria convoy. I'd now like to invite everyone to write EOGs on the game. Newbs - an End Of Game Statement is an overview of the game from your perspective. Hopefully, some of the old hands will write ones and you can use theirs as inspiration. Below I'll also have a GM EOG to show you my perspective on the game.

So yeah, that's that. Last things I'd like to do is to advertise becoming a GM yourself which you can do here: http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/info.php?type=gm. We always want more GMs! In addition, now that you are done with this game how about signing up for a new one? Plenty of interesting games just waiting for players right now, including a veterans one GMed by your truly! So come and have a game! http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/recruiting.php

Final map attached.

Farewell all, it's been a pleasure being your GM and I hope to meet everyone again soon!

All the best,
Dan

GM EOG: This was certainly the most powerful Austro/Italian alliance I've seen. The supreme amount of trust Nick placed in Kevin in 1901 for him to send in so many armies through Tyrolia, Bohemia was really something special. That said, they both got a fair share of luck - Billy was placed right into the hands of the A/I thanks to a weird Russian insistence on German destruction right from the start, and Turkey was just kind of absent from the early game, so expansion was easy for Kevin and Billy. The west just never got its act together, they were weirdly fighting till the end - I'd love to hear more about that! I feel as if Nick could have soled very easy had he wanted to, as in Fall 1905 Kevin was wide open to a stab and if Nick went for it I doubt he would have been able to be stopped. That said, given how wacky this game ended up being, perhaps a generic solo wasn't a fitting end to such a wacky game.

Diplomacy games may contain lying, stabbing, or deliberately deceiving communications that may not be suitable for and may pose a hazard to young children, gullible adults, and small farm animals.
