You think Road Runner
I think Coyote
"Maximus Hungrumus"
That maybe why we fought for the Galapagos Isles
But I am glad we watched something other than "Schoolhouse Rock"

Pre-Lim

Pre: Coming Before, or preceeding

Lim: An acronym for the latin, "Latesus Isthus Movessus", aka LIM.

(Some would argue that Pre is derived from the latin "Probablus Reallyus Earlius" however this is a common misconception, since there is no probability in sending orders early. They will prevent you from being late 100% of the time, without exception)

So Pre-Lims are what you send in BEFORE your orders are late. Sometimes even early.

Sometimes they will be premature. After all, Premautre and Prelims start with the same syllable, namely the pre. Premature in the case of Diplomacy is not bad, it is simple pre (prior to) Lim (latesus isthus movessus), or, not being late. Prelim orders can always be changed, up until the deadline.

Enjoy.

Hi gang,

Due to popular request, the deadline for Fall 13 will be extended until Friday, Nov 20th (11:59 PM GMT).

Also due to popular request, your humble GM will no longer be offering his guacamole and peanut butter chip dip during the hockey games.  (Apparently it makes too much of a mess.)

Thanks everyone,

I would have thought that the fact that you send an email reminder to us all, pointing out that we have 24 hours to get our orders in would have been sufficient: but I'm quite happy to go along with it.
You're the GM & I'm just the little Fez wearer in the bottom right corner.

Yep, fine by me as well.  Your reminders come regularly and those who need extensions ask for them.  If someone doesn't respond...well, maybe thats strategy of some insane variety.

DC267 - A New Russian Leader! - CPT23862   (Nov 16, 2009, 7:31 pm)
Matt,
Absolutely the right call to get a new Russia into place. I apologize to all for my prolonged absence. I was away on business in Romania, and the satellite internet I was promised never worked. So for the past three weeks I have been disconnected, which was unfortunate. I'm stepping back into a heavy workload, with more Romanian partnership ventures in the next month, so I fully support the change.
Best of luck to Michael.
All, sorry for the delay. This is an interesting variant and I will check back later to see how it all ended.

Cheers,
Bill

Hey all,

Please welcome Michael Boutot as our new Russian leader! Michael steps in just in the nick of time to save Russia from civil disorder, but can he turn around her recent misfortune? Only time will tell. To give Michael a chance to get acquainted with everybody and with the game, our next deadline, for Summer 2014 moves, will be next Monday, November 23, at 9 pm eastern. However, as usual, you all are course welcome to submit final moves whenever you so choose and if I get a full set of those then I will adjudicate immediately. Note that we do still have a proposal for a two-way Canada / Denmark draw on the table, so don't forget to vote on that.

I see you learned your Latin from Warner Brothers cartoons, specifically the Road Runner, e.g. "Fastius Avianae"....

[quote:b884db5f74] Prelims.

Today let's take a look at this word, since many of you have not actually submitted these yet, despite a number of days having passed. Nobody is late, there are no NMRs to speak of, but there are still some things lacking - namely, the use of prelim orders.

Enjoy.

Hey all,

Please welcome Michael Boutot as our new Russian leader! Michael steps
in just in the nick of time to save Russia from civil disorder, but can
he turn around her recent misfortune? Only time will tell. To give
Michael a chance to get acquainted with everybody and with the game, our
next deadline, for Summer 2014 moves, will be next Monday, November 23,
at 9 pm eastern. However, as usual, you all are course welcome to
submit final moves whenever you so choose and if I get a full set of
those then I will adjudicate immediately. Note that we do still have a
proposal for a two-way Canada / Denmark draw on the table, so don't
forget to vote on that.

Matt,
Absolutely the right call to get a new Russia into place.

Cheers,
Bill

DC267 More Issues - MattTheLesser   (Nov 15, 2009, 11:27 am)
Hey guys,

So the replacement spot has been up for a few days now and no one seems
to be biting. I've had a suggestion to put Russia in civil disorder so
that we can finish the game, and I am inclined to do this. However,
ultimately this is your game and thus your input is obviously valuable;
please let me know if you have a serious objection to this course of
action. If I have not received any strong objections by tomorrow
evening I will officially put Russia in CD and set the Summer 2014
deadline for this Thursday, November 19, at 9 pm eastern.

Matt

Matt Kremer wrote:

The proposal for a Danish solo has been voted down. Therefore I will
post the open Russian position on the DC site and hopefully we'll have
it filled soon. In the meantime there is a proposal for a draw
between Canada and Denmark. As usual I will post the results of this
as soon as I have votes from all necessary parties (which in this case
are the four active players only). Bill's second NMR (on the retreat
phase) will also be officially recorded, and those units will be
disbanded, so the map remains the same. I will announce the deadline
for Summer 2014 as soon as we have a new Russia.

Matt Kremer wrote:
[quote:6b905cb0d4]So I never received retreats from Bill; in fact, I haven't heard from
him at all since the initial retreats he sent me. Thus, I am
inclined to look for another replacement. However, there is an
end-game proposal on the table. Therefore I would appreciate it if
you all would send me your votes now (if you haven't already); if the
four active players all approve the proposal, I will call the game.
Otherwise I will look for a replacement Russia. Either way, my
apologies for letting this game stumble a bit lately; if the game
continues I will do my best to get it back up to speed.

That’s what happens when you’re running multiple games. It becomes quite difficult to keep one’s llamas separate from one’s fairytales separate from one’s tournaments. In this particular case, llamas pillaged the tournament in a fairytale. But like all good stories, it comes to a happy end as we do here, with correct maps.

Don't take my V away! Z always comes last, and I don't like the association.

Aside from at the bottom of the V - is there a point?

dc278 - Fall 1902 Results - z93blom   (Nov 14, 2009, 11:35 am)
Gentlemen,

I've been asked not to adjudicate early, and the request has been granted. Do not expect any results until after the deadline has passed.

Next turn: Winter 1902 Builds/Disbands
Next Deadline: Tuesday, 17th of November, 19:00 GMT (7PM).

/Fredrik

2009/11/14 Fredrik Blom <fredrik(at)familjenblom.se (fredrik(at)familjenblom.se)>

Good morning gentlemen,

This morning we find ourselves definitely at war as two units need to retreat. The Turks find themselves dislodged and the German invasion of Russia is beaten back. The Turkish fleet had only one retreat option - the Aegean sea and it has been moved there. The German Army in Warsaw had two retreat options - Prussia and Ukraine. I retreated it to Prussia, but it could just as well have retreated to Ukraine. Jeffrey, please let us know your wishes as soon as possible. Since you are the only one that needs to retreat you can announce your wishes to everyone when you have decided.

Any mistakes that I've made should be brought to my attention as soon as possible. Please let me know if you plan on being away or if you want an extended deadline. Also - we've got Thanksgiving coming up. Let me know if you are planning to be out of touch during that time so that I can plan the deadlines accordingly.

Orders due:

Austria: 1 Build
England: 2 Builds
Germany: 1 Disband
Russia: 1 Build
Turkey: 1 Disband

France and Italy - no changes are needed. You get more time to work on your diplomacy Smile

You can make the build/disband orders conditional depending on the retreat of the Warsaw unit if you want.

Next turn: Winter 1902 Builds/Disbands
Next Deadline: Tuesday, 17th of November, 19:00 GMT (7PM). I will adjudicate as soon as I have a complete set of orders.

DC-224 SOS - Summer 13 - A Waffle With Strawberrie... - former.trout   (Nov 14, 2009, 10:32 am)
Heya folks,

Thanks for bearing with me as I flaked out the last couple of nights.  All player retreats were in on time - the limiting factor this turn was your humble GM.  But that goes without saying, eh?  =P

Retreats from the Rogues were to the Julianthes and to Shady Vale.  The Ogres side-stepped to Terabithia and the Knights got in their Icebreakers and headed for Icereach.

We'll shorten up the Fall deadline a little, due to the short Summer delay.  All of our travelling players are back on the 16th or 17th, so the deadline for Fall 13 will be set per the original plan on Thursday, Nov 19th (11:59 PM GMT).

Please let me know if you spot any errors.  Cheers!
