Subject: A&E 090205 / DC240: The Bulldog makes his move?
A&E 090205 / DC240: The Spring 1769 season has been adjudicated. Clearly the biggest story of the season is that Frank appears to have made his move in going for the solo, taking Mecklenburg from the Danes, and moving his fleets east towards Scandinavia. You can read his press for more tea leaves in interpreting British intentions. Meanwhile, there is a Turkish army in Paris, for the first time in history (both real and surely in the history of the A&E variant). Finally, one of our two remaining neutrals fell, with the Duchy of Courland finally surrendering to Danish advances.
The retreat deadline is over the weekend, let's say Sat night, although I won't adjudicate until Sun morning (or earlier Saturday if I received them). Retreat orders are needed from Denmark, France, and Prussia. The Fall 1769 deadline is Thu May 21st.
Here is our press:

To All.
I submitted moves from work on Friday am just before I left work on a last minute business trip to the States and on return headed directly up north (out of contact) until I stepped back in the house today. My bad that I didn’t wait for a move confirmation from Stephen, and I totally accept the NMR’s. I’ll try to keep up from here on, and if I do go off last minute again, I’ll get my wife to read the e-mails and forward on the messages.

Single fleet conquers Sparta!
That’s right, rumors are circulating that a large wooden dolphin was spotted off the Spartan coast, and next thing we know the Roman legions leap from within to capture the legendary city.
Not as successful with their own large wooden anchor trick, the Carthaginians are not rewarded for their creativity as the attack on Cyrene is met by fierce resistance.
But now surrounded by 4… what will become of the Cyrenese?
Last, seemingly bored and without purpose, Egyptian fleets sail back and forth across the Eastern Med in search of sea monsters.

DC-212 England Debacle - TheWhiteWolf (May 15, 2009, 5:08 pm) |
Greg,
I'm going to quote a few things you said and then argue them. I will do so in as dispassionate a tone as possible, since there are still over 20 emails about this situation that I have yet to read. I am only replying to this because I find fault with a few points, and personal attack in one.
"I asked politely to go back into the game and was told NO."
- I've seen the emails you sent to Rachael. There was nothing polite about them.
"For the record, I am sorry for offending and if my spirited discussion was taken personally."
- Spirited discussion? The use of caps lock in email correspondence generally indicates a raised voice. By that merit, quite a bit of what you call spirited discussion was actually interpreted (not just by me, I'm sure) as shouting. That's beyond discussion, and well above spirited, at least in my book.
"I think Racheal can speak for herself."
- I'm well aware that she can, when she wishes to. I do live in the same house with her, after all.
"I have yet to hear a peep."
- This is only true if you mean 'since my last abrasive email'. I know she's had plenty to say since this whole situation cropped up.
"And by the way, I tried to reserve Fignorant(at)rocketmail.com for myself, but it was taken. Maybe you have it?"
- Now you're attacking my character. I don't appreciate the label 'ignorant'. That label implies a non-understanding of a situation, a lack of knowledge or awareness, etc. You know nothing about me personally, except that I have complained about your treatment by your GM, who I happen to be married to. If that leads you to conclusions about me, then perhaps I'm not the ignorant one in this equation.
More replies forthcoming, I'm sure,
Andy

If someone makes a mistake, they should admit and move on. That is character in my book. I didn't deserve my punishment and when you start a game you expect to finish not be eliminated on a whim.
I have been involved in countless games with worse language.

DC-239 Spring 1905 Adjudication - TheWhiteWolf (May 15, 2009, 4:47 pm) |
All,
I'm less than pleased to say that Matthew (Turkey) NMRed this season. I have nothing from him in my game folder since fall of last game-year. This is Matthew's second NMR, which means I will be seeking a replacement sultan. I've just reread my house rules and, unfortunately for the pace of the game, I cannot place Turkey in Civil Disorder, as Turkey still stands at three SCs at this time. If I can't find a replacement within a week, however, I will make an exception based upon the current map situation (as you'll see in the adjudication.)

DC 212 Error in adjudication - Verticallychallangedcutie (May 15, 2009, 3:32 pm) |
Folks,
Fredrik noticed another error in the adjudication, and I have fixed it. He did not order
Austria:
F Black Sea Supports A Sevastopol - Livonia
He actually ordered:
Austria:
F Black Sea - Constantinople
I have fixed the map and dpy file and the change is reflected in the map. Please note that with this change Austria receives 2 builds not one.

DC-230 Lost Kings of Lore - Spring 1905 - former.trout (May 15, 2009, 2:14 pm) |
Heya gang,
Our missing orders came in during the wee morning hours, thanks for waiting through the small delay. In world news, France sneaks an army into Tuscany, Russia gets slammed by German forces and Austria takes it to Turkey with a Smyrna Smack-Down...
Three retreats were needed, but all only had one place to go so I took the liberty. There was a slight situation as both Russian units had only Sevastopol to fall back on. I retreated one OTB and the other to Sevastopol - however, Justin, if you prefer both to move to Sev and disband then please just let me know. If that's the case then I'll issue a corrected Summer.
With that all taken care of, we'll set the Fall 05 deadline for Thursday, May 21st (11:59 PM GMT). As usual, let me know if you spot any errors.
Cheers!
