DC190 - Autumn 2011 - DamienThryn   (Mar 20, 2009, 12:53 pm)
South American Riot Stormtroopers (whose acronym is rather unfortunate) withdrawn.  Now they're being pressed into Chilean liberation forces, and training in Bolivia...

Also want to say good game to Trout, sorry to help be an agent of your demise but somebody has to draw a line with Persia in africa so we can call a draw!

According to the Intelligence of Oceania the information on the SARS is highly suspicious and should be regarded with the necessary caution.

The Oceanian Press meanwhile run reports of the Oceanian Fleet Commander having started preparations for a ceremony to officially plant the Oceania flag on former South American territory. All countries are welcome to join us for the preparations on this great day and are encouraged to repeat the same everywhere on this continent.

South America will happily participate in this ceremony, as the citizens of Chile were found to be rebellious and insolent, and serve as poor examples of the citizenry of our great continent.  We will be happy to allow Chile to fall under the protection of Oceania, and will divert our efforts towards deploying re-education teams to ensure the newly liberated people of Perth fully appreciate the benefits of becoming part of the Portugese-Spanish speaking world.

On a side note, any flag planting ceremonies occuring outside the boundaries of Chile and within South American control will be dealt with.  Violaters will be deported to whatever territory China holds on the slowest boat available.

As to Perth: it may come as a surprise but after the first sign of the South-Americans the people of Perth all fled with whatever they could hold on to to the North and across the water. It's only sheep and dingo's there since.
In case the South-American natives are unaware of the difference: the people of Perth walk on 2 legs, all other habitants on 4. Not sure whether that includes the South-American natives but early reports from Chile seem to be unclear on whether it's 2 or 4.

No need to feel offended: the same has been reported for the other areas Down Under when they saw the Mexicans.
Reports also have come in about overcrowded boats and all else that floats. Local governors of the remaining Oceanian empire are preparing a warm welcome for their brothers and sisters.

Hey guys... the time has come and gone once again for moves to be submitted... and I'm still waiting on a couple of sets.  Please note, once again, that if the draw gets voted down (by one or more people) I will need orders from everyone because the deadlines are simultaneous.

To tide you over during the delay, here is a bit of press received from your forest green neighbour:

---------------------------------

PRESS: South America - All:  Assuming this draw gets voted down, Here's my argument for ending this game now with the draw proposed.  Clearly there are 4 large powers, two middle powers, and two small powers.  The small powers are likely to be eliminated in the next year, so its in their interest to accept a draw that allows them a survival.  The middle powers are in a position to be made small powers, as Persia is in a strong position versus West Africa (so far a SA ally) and Oceania is going to lose half his centers to Mex and I.  Within a few years we'll pretty much be down to 4 players.

Thing with this is that neither duo seems likely to stab, and the way the oceans are set up on this map and with all the fleets on the board we're likely going to stalemate around ATL, PAC/MIC, IND, and the like.  This will degenerate into my dominating the west coast of Africa, Persia the east.  That'll be about the only movement.  Russia/Persia is secure in Eurasia, Mex and I will be secure in the Americas and Australia.  Africa, even if one side or the other takes it fully, will not tip the balance, as there's only so many spaces available for units.

I think this has been a good (and long!) game that we should call a draw on now.

-----------------------------------------

That's all for now... I'll be back one I've received more orders.

DC236 Winter Blitz Board 6 - FALL 1910 - ITALIAN S... - former.trout   (Mar 19, 2009, 8:13 pm)
Wow guys.

Coming as quite the surprise, our Russian fails to submit Fall orders.  The 3-way draw is voted down, but the game concludes in any event as Italy powers to an impressive 23-center solo victory.  A very hearty congratulations goes to Dan for the solo win, as well as a big pat on the back to Nathan and John for doing everything they could to stop him and eking out the survivals.  To all players, thank you for being part of this game.  =)

EOG statements are, of course, very welcome.  If you haven't already confirmed for the second round, then I'd highly encourage you to do so.  Boards will be assigned this weekend and if you haven't confirmed then you won't be assigned a position...  (Remember that whatever happened in the first round, all players have an equal opportunity to win the second.)

Cheers everyone.  Its been a pleasure stepping in and running a few turns for you.

His email address is sggttod-at-mainecav-dot-org; also included above.

Please welcome him as you see fit.

Ah, what the heck, you can always sandwich him.

As to our Fall deadline. Remember that we also have a Endgame proposal.
It's the Russian-France Draw. All YES votes are required or else it's turned down.

LONDON – LOYALISTS claims to the contrary aside, Ireland is
closer than ever to secession from the United Kingdom.
Conscriptions for the Scandinavian campaign have emptied the

Though the northern counties of Ulster have a softer stance on
the issue of Ireland’s continued union with Great Britain,
Belfast was awash with potentially violent gangs of hooligans
for days in preparation for the match.  England’s convincing 3

angst felt by the Irish across the island.  Much has been made
of the fact that though the officials were Welsh, they were
Protestant.

Thursday’s St. Patrick’s day masses promise to provide at least
a brief respite from angry mobs assembling outside Dublin

informal recruiting grounds to the rebel cause.

DC234 Fall '10 Adjudication - Samnuva   (Mar 19, 2009, 5:28 pm)
Hey Everyone! It's that time again, so let's get cracking. England's
last home center falls to the French, while their attempt at gaining a
french center falls flat. Meanwhile, our intrepid German, after an
impossibly long period, finds his last stronghold crumbling around
him, as he looses Denmark. Well played, Chris. I will, however, need
retreat/disbands from you. Anyway, where Britain failed, the Italians
succeeded. Marseilles is now in french hands, along with Spain. With
these in mind, we have our first End Game Proposal on the floor: a
DIAS (all survivors draw). Please have your Yea/Nay votes in with your
autumn/winter orders, which will be due on Friday, march 20th at 6:00
PM ET.

DC 233: Game Over, Dude, Italian EOG - stevec   (Mar 19, 2009, 4:40 pm)
Running out of battery . . .

Here's the end first. After Garry stabbed, I thought France, Germany and I could hold them off for quite a while. Sadly, I did not convince Steve L. of this. I'd written Tyh-Nap and was going to ignore him. Instead, he convinced me he was moving to Ion. I wanted to make sure that went, thinking it would tie Garry up in knots. Steve lied. It wasn't a small lie. It meant I was going to lose all of Italy and get nothing in return. After that, no matter what was said, Steve had to go.

I tried to get Paul to take the win. I did not fancy the idea of being the last eliminated in a 17/17 draw. Paul declined and I continually guessed wrong. So, I offered to throw it to Garry. To me, if Paul would not go for the win and I was going to die, I was willing to take Paul with me. My choice: be eliminated and get no satisfaction OR have the satisfaction of splitting the alliance that stabbed me. I chose the latter.

The beginning: I tried to get Paul to go after Garry with me. Once he was in Gal, I wanted him to support me into Vie. He declined. I wasn't willing to gamble on stabbing Austria alone. For quite a while, it seemed I made the right decision. Garry should have stabbed me earlier, imnsho. The turn he went for it, I stupidly left an sc on a fall turn. If I'd sat still, it would have been a very bad stab.

Congratulations to Garry for winning!

Paul, well played, except you would have been better off to keep Garry on board. The danger of a 17/17 draw is enormous. I've lost similar games when I allowed trust to overshadow skepticism.

Kevin was great. I liked the players here. For Rachael, I don't know what RL situation came up, but before that she'd made a couple of moves that were just poor--the move to Pie and the move to Wes. They could not hurt me, but they sure didn't help her either.

All in all, a disappointing, but fun game. Thanks Adam!

Steve

Well, the EOGs could be interesting for this game... I will be interested to hear how all of you respond.

Austria ascends to the throne whilst grinding Paris, Marseilles, and Spain under his heel.

Alas, Germany is simultaneously eliminated.

If you haven't confirmed your participation for Round 2 at the DC website, please do so soon.

My thanks to everybody, especially Austria, Germany, and Italy, none of whom ever NMR'd. Not even Steve. Really.
