A&E 090205 / DC240: map on DC page - NickHiggins (Mar 06, 2009, 11:25 pm) |
A&E 090205 / DC240: For some reason, I am unable to fix the map on the DC page, and it still shows the first adjudication. Please note this, and use the map I attached with the previous e-mail. The only difference is with British F Portugal moving to Andalusia and Spanish A Leon moving to Portugal.

A&E 090205 / DC240: map correction - NickHiggins (Mar 06, 2009, 11:10 pm) |
A&E 090205 / DC240: There is a correction to make in the adjudication. It is relating to a message received from Frank's Blackberry, which I could not comprehend and replied with a "huh?" e-mail. My confusion was due to the double usage of "And" as both a conjunction and province name on our map (Andalusia). Upon further analysis, it is quite clear what Frank intended, and so I am correcting the adjudication. The result is that F Por - Gib changes to F Por - And, which succeeds, enabling A Leo - Por to succeed also. Sorry for being a bit dense.
The adjudication is copied below, with the changed orders in bold.

DC224 - Hot Off The Wizard Presses - former.trout (Mar 06, 2009, 9:55 pm) |
Almost forgot some press that was kindly submitted by your friendly neighbourhood Wizards. Enjoy!
FALL 04 WIZARD PRESS:
wizard times reports problems with comms between the grand wizard and the other world leaders- 'its all up the creek right now and we arent sure why' reported 1 lesser apprentice to the senior mage of realm comms. He added ' the balls ( crystal) are cloudy, the esp is like being in an empty room , and something is eating our pigeons'
Rumours of dwarven tastes for pigeon pie and interference from the gods ( especially he the mighty fish demi god) abound.... Or perhaps forces are massing and alliances are shifting..... [Reply] |
DC-224 Slaughter At StoryTime - Fall 04 - Three St... - former.trout (Mar 06, 2009, 9:40 pm) |
Heya StoryTimers,
Due to GM time constraints, this one is going to come at you fast and filthy.
The players fall like fire-wood this year as the axe falls on three seperate positions. My thanks to Mark D for fighting on to the bitter end as the Samurai, and our best wishes for the next game to David and Steve C for their efforts in the Centaur and Barbarian positions. =)
There were three retreats, although two were due from eliminated positions and the other, for the Undead, had only one option. I retreated the Barbarian and Samurai units OTB, and the Undead Fleet to Dunia. (Jacob, if OTB is preferred than please just let me know.)
Winter 04 adjustments will be set due for Monday, March 9th (11:59 PM GMT). Please double-check my results and let me know if you see any errors.
Carry on Battlin!

A&E 090205 / DC240: Spring 1764 adjudicated - NickHiggins (Mar 06, 2009, 9:04 pm) |
A&E 090205 / DC240: The Spring 1764 season has been adjudicated. The late party was our Prussian player Mark, who apologizes for missing the deadline.
While I cannot reveal the details, the Diplomacy Point adjudication this season was especially interesting, as clearly there was some very spirited diplomacy to gather support for certain actions. There were a lot of nice tactical moves, with the most impressive being Russia's risky (but correct) defensive strategy to counter the creative Scandinavian attack. Looking elsewhere, action heated up in the Med, while the Prussian-Polish war continues to be a stalemate.
There is no Spring Retreat. Our next deadline is Thu Mar 12th for Fall 1764. Before the adjudication, we have some press... I feel like I'm missing one set of press, but can't find another one, so let me know if I left yours out. Sorry if that is the case.

DC230 - A Ball Dropped - Some Humble Apologies - former.trout (Mar 06, 2009, 8:50 pm) |
Folks of DC-230..
Wow. I really have to apologize. I totally dropped the ball on my attempt to get the game going this last week. Totally my fault - all Winter orders are in and I just totally missed putting the adjudication out.
That being said, here's the latest news. One of the Winter order sets had a slight problem and I've requested clarification. Normally I would simply run with the orders in hand, but after such a mind-boggingly big screw-up on my own part I feel obliged to extend the player a slight break.
Have no fear - the Winter turn WILL be put out. By Monday at the latest - and then we'll get this one grooving again.
Once again, I'm sorry folks. I feel really dumb about the mess-up.

Thank you or you much needed support in helping our cousins in Belgium be freed from the yoke of French tyranny!
They and indeed I will be in your gratitude for as long as the German Flag flies over the Mannekin Pis..
Certainly the German people are delighted in becoming a partner with the the Great British people and do pledge not to build any navies.
With this in mind, let us press on on all fronts firstly to eliminate the French, and then to see what possibilities lie before us.
Yours in trust,
Willie

Given the turn of events with Italy/Austria, I think it would be premature for us to do a 6-way now. There's a lot of play left in this for all of us now... i vote "No"

A DIAS would give a draw to France, England, Germany, Austria, Italy and Turkey. Points for tournament would fall under 6-way draw [like next to nothing].

Italian Treachery? They Take Greece from Austria.
Austria Trades Silesia for Galicia.
English Setback! France Reclaims Belgium.
NO AUTO-RETREAT - JOHN I NEED A RETREAT CONFIRMATION.
For a whole lot of failed moves, this turn proved quite interesting. We have two retreats:
English F Belgium can retreat to English Channel.
German A Silesia can retreat to Berlin or Warsaw.
In addition to that, we have several opportunities to lose units and gain units:
Italy +1
Austria -1
France +1
England: IF a retreat of F(Bel) occurs then -1; IF F(Bel) retreats OTB, then no change
Germany: IF a retreat of A(Sil) to War occurs then +1; IF A(Sil) retreats to Ber then no change

Good grief.
Those players who have pointed it out to me are absolutely correct, and somehow a Flying Dutchman unit snuck onto the board for England while I was recreating the .dpy file. My apologies to everyone for the mistake, and thanks to those who spoke up about it.
You'll find attached the corrected .dpy, map and adjudication text. Without the English Militia in Picadilly Circus. But please give this one the once over as well, just in case there were more errors.
The seizing of London by the French changes the build counts, of course. England disbands 2, France builds 2. I can eke out a few extra hours in the deadline tonight as a result of my error, but as this is the Blitz I still need to adjudicate this evening.
Thanks again guys. Sorry for any confusion here.

I believe the rules of the tournament include for conditional builds/disbands due to the quick nature of the tournament. So, if Steve only submits three disbands on the thought that I'll be nice and not retreat to MAR... well then, he should pay for being so naive.

Thanks for stepping in again.
Might it be an idea either to ask Kevin to broadcast his retreat ahead of the winter deadline or else to ask Steve (Italy) for conditional disbands. I'm sure we'd all agree it would only be fair that Steve should have tthe opportunity to nominate an additional disband rather than to have to take one 'by rule' if Kevin drops BUR into MAR.

Subject: DC 233 WInter Blitz Board 3 - Fall 1908
Heya folks,
Results come out a little later in the day than you're used to. Apologies for that - hope it doesn't throw any of you off. But while Adam is away, the TDs will play - or so they say. =)
The Fall 08 turn doesn't bring any relief to Italy or Germany, although the Kaiser does manage to find a home away from home in Edinburgh. There was one retreat owed from the Germans in Burgundy. That retreat, plus the Winter 08 adjustments, will be set due for Friday, Mar 6th (11:59 PM GMT). Please note the evening deadline to compensate for the later adjudication tonight..
Thanks to everyone for CCing the orders inbox.. Please continue to do so for the Winter turn, as Adam will not be back until next week. Just let me know if you spot any errors. Cheers!
