Matt,

a pity to nmr, but I guess that's part of blitz.

Personally, I would have sworn I'd shifted something to Rum. Why does woek interfere with the serious business of Dip?

And immediately on to the next..

DC103 - Revised Turkish Retreat and Late Winter Or... - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Sorry guys, my schedule will continue this craze until February 4th, so if I don't reply right away I'm probably in deep coma.

On Feb 1, 2008 11:46 AM, Former Trout <former.trout(at)gmail.com (former.trout(at)gmail.com)> wrote:

Hi folks,

A couple notes here for game DC-103.

1. Turkey chooses to retreat OTB rather than Galicia. That frees up a build for the Sultan. The revised EW 1913 map is attached.

2. The French solo proposal has been voted down - we play on! Woot!

3. We're short one set of adjustments for Winter 1913. The player in question has been notified and I hope to gather the missing set over the next few hours.

Cheers!

What a mess. I hope you know, Brian (England), that the rules have skewed things disproportionately in your favor. If the same is happening in other Blitz games, then I think the most that can be said for the "winners" of the tourny is that they are richer from the prizes offered, not better players of the game.

For the record.

Frustration with missed deadlines being understood... It is not any one players fault that they submitted orders on time for a well-published deadline while another player failed to.

Thanks,

Trout

yes, true -- that was for Brian's benefit given his scolding/demeaning tone in our country-to-country "negotiations" -- if you didn't see those, I suppose my broadcast didn't make much sense.

Broadcast sure didn't make much sense to me.

But it is just a game guys: let's keep it good natured of we can. Former Trout and Mike Sims are doing us a favour by giving us a chance to "play" and have fun.

The "i'm In Cd" "no I'm not", was an interesting move.

Last week i had to submit moves via my wife (who has never played Dip) because my hotel's web was down for a day - wasn't sure if they were in until I got back from Scotland. Life happens, and so do mistakes

as to the results - Turkey missed a build early on, and is back from two forces to 4 : recoveries can happen.

It's all part of the game, folks... NMRs are really
annoying, sure, but those who can take advantage of
them do and those of us who can't keep soldiering on.

I would like to suggest splitting the Autumn and
Winter order phases in the future as well... missed
one build myself... but those are the rules as stated
and it's completely my fault that I missed that one.

As for life getting in the way... I'm sending in
prelim orders for Monday right now... it prevents NMRs
quite well.

Look, this game was screwed up from the get-go because Germany only
submitted moves once; every other mistake / NMR / confusion after that
was tiny in comparative effect on the game. In any other game we would
have found a replacement, but the tournament rules prevented that. This
is DipCorp's first tournament, so its not surprising there's a few
bugs. But ever since that Germany debacle I have not put much stock in
this game (not to say I have not tried or cared, but I just have not let
successes or failures get to me). So let's just play it out for the
tournament's sake; if you were lucky and smart enough to take advantage
of a skewed game, great for you. If you were screwed or made a mistake,
don't think twice. That's all the advice that I can give, but please
let's stop flooding my inbox a pointless argument.

damn,

and i thought it was the stunning a warsaw-silesia that tipped germany out from 1901 (plus armies in Tyrol, Boh, and Bur if I remember right) I've never seen germany surrounded and wiped out so soon. Any replacement would have had to have been a genius to do much with it.

But whatever, we play it out - looks to me that we all mean to do so, and if nmrs happen, so be it.

DC147 (wb0812) - Winter 1904 - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Hi guys,

I couldn't find any orders from France. However, I erred in the last adjudication and did not mention the French fleets need to retreat from the Mid-Atlantic. It was shown on the map but was not listed in the needed retreats. With no French orders received, I retreated the fleet OTB and thus voided the need for France to disband.

Dan, if you do not wish things to be resolved in this manner, please get in touch with me - [u:e227521853]due to my omission in listing the needed retreat[/u:e227521853], I will allow a change if you get in touch with me within 24 hours. Barring that, deadline for Spring 05 orders will be set for Monday, February 5th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers folks!

Hey gang,

A couple missed orders for the Winter turn. The Kaiser gets a retreat in but fails to submit a disband. Also, I couldn't find a build order from England so the British waive the build.

The German army in Ruhr was auto-disbanded following the pattern laid out in the Winter Blitz Tourney rules:
- Units NOT in suppy centers before units in centers. (Which leaves Ruhr and Silisia)
- Alphabetically (R before S)

If I've missed some orders and you guys have a confirmation email from me, then please let me know in the next 24 hours or so. Otherwise we'll move onto Spring 05 with the deadline set for Monday, February 4th (11:59 PM GMT).

Cheers!
