dc133 (Heir) - 04 builds! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
04 builds are out! Lots of new armies come into play… Where will they go next?

Spring 05 due: We were going 5-ish day turns this game, right?
So – Monday 1/21, 2pm Pacific!

Note if that is not enough time for anyone or the game seems rushed at all, let me know! Be happy to slow it to 7-days. Want to make sure nobody feels they don’t have sufficient time to get their negotiations in…

Austria:
Defaults, removing F Adriatic Sea
Defaults, removing A Piedmont

England:
Build A Edinburgh

Germany:
Build A Berlin

Italy:
Build A Venice

Russia:
Remove A Prussia

Turkey:
Build A Constantinople

dc133 (Heir) f04 results! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Unfortunately we say goodbye to the Royal Gaius of Austria - with 2 consecutive NMR's the Austrian empire plunges into Civil Disorder. Austrian units will hold, and disband if dislodged. Austria's final season of record is Fall '04.

There is one retreat - Russian A War is dislodged by the German war machine... but it can only retreat to Ukraine so I'll just move it there.

On other fronts, both France and England misorder their move to Spain, but it has no impact. Remember when ordering a fleet to a province that has 2 coasts, you have to specify which coast or the move fails!

4 builds and 1 removal due Wed 1/16, 2pm Pacific!

England: Build 1
Germany: Build 1
Italy: Build 1
Russia: Remove 1
Turkey: Build 1

Austria:
Remove (defaults to A Piedmont)
Remove (defaults to F Adriatic Sea)

dc133: To Heir Is Human - Starting Lineups - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
The replacement of Italy is already done. I invited another guy, and sent out new gamestart-- I cant renig on him. Says in my house rules that failure to submit orders in 01 is cause for removal. I sent out notices to send in prelims, and then a personal warning day of. So I stand by the change. Kyle you are welcome to join the next one that is recruiting and almost full.

dc133: To Heir Is Human - Game Start! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Resending this to include Dom,
-mike

WELCOME ALL!

To this our 133rd game of diplomaticcorp Diplomacy.

(ok actually it's our 134'th as Jason got his dc134 started before I did
but who's counting)

To the pros in the group, feel free to skip to the bottom to get started
and skip all this babble...

First off I don't know hardly any of you, so any intro's are definitely
welcome... ME-- I'm 34 and live in California with my wife and two
little kids. Thus all the deadlines I give you will always be in
Pacific Standard Time, which has just recently changed to GMT-8. (2pm
Pacific = 5pm Eastern = 10pm GMT) I'm a Physics major by schooling, but
got into the computer world right out of high school and so now I build
networks and dabble in web design.

My deadlines-- will always be for 2pm Pacific, and usually around a week
apart. If that schedule does not work for anyone, let me know.

Being that there are lots of new players here, I've been waiting for a
good game to use this title... There's quite a few new names, and who
knows how many errors that will bring. Whatever transpires, if you do
find yourself in a lurch, do remember that this game is never over... a
1-center power can survive to the end, and a convincing leader can turn
the tides of even the worst results.

Our game_page is:
www.diplomaticcorp.com?game_id=dc133

I'll try to keep the site updated w the latest map and adjudications, so
if you bookmark that you can always see what's transpired in the game.

My house rules:
www.sims-family.net/dip/houserules.htm

(Some things to carry us thru any sticky situations that may arise)

Our forum:
dc133(at)diplomaticcorp.com
Any press you send with your orders will get posted there, as well the
adjudications, and anything else I find interesting about the game. Any
of you can mail interesting stuff directly to the forum, or you can post
via the website.

You can find our dc133 forum here:
http://www.diplomaticcorp.com/phpbb2/viewforum.php?f=43

If you want to receive email feeds of any posts regarding this game,
then go to the Message Board, and click on Subscriptions and subscribe
yourself to the distribution. You will ONLY receive mail sent about
THIS game, if you sign up to only this one forum.

Where do you send orders? TO ME: mike(at)southwall.com. Some people
make the grave heir (hehe) of sending their moves to the forum. Only
send them to me! I am on my email 24/7, so if you do not receive a
"Confirmed" email reply from me within a day, then it is very likely
that I did not receive them, and so do send again or find some other way
to contact me:

I can be reached any time via:
Yahoo Messenger: poobaloo
MSN Messenger: poobaloo
Or the forums, or via contacting either of our mods Steve or Trout.
Therefore there is always some way to get hold of me.

*******************************************

And to anyone who skipped ahead... So ya think you're a pro, huh? We'll
just see when the game's done!

Enjoy,
-mike

dc133: To Heir Is Human - Lineups (Take-2) - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Ok folks after my insane repetition about how not to confirm if you
don't want to play we STILL get an abandon, I think we'll be off to a
great start now... I had super early prelims in from all the other 6,
plus now welcome a new eager body in Dom Barker heading up Italy. He
comes to us from the next re001 so he was waiting to get into a similar
game.

Revised player list is below, let's make the first deadline for Friday,
to give everyone some time to get reacquainted.

Spring 01: Friday 11/23, 2pm Pacific. That is the day after
Thanksgiving! A holiday for those in the US... if that doesn't work for
anyone, I can push it back to Monday just let me know but I bet you all
want to get the game going.

*Prelims already in are STILL VALID, tho you may revise if you wish*

dc133 f02 builds! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Spring 03 due… Wed 12/19, 2pm Pacific.

(in keeping w the 5-day turns we’ve been doing… if that is not enough time or anyone feels rushed, do let me know – I can make them 6- or 7- day turns instead)

Austria: Build F Trieste
England: Build F Edinburgh
France: Remove A Wales
Germany: Build A Berlin
Turkey: Remove A Armenia

**************************************************

Coming deadlines, I was thinking:

Wed 12/19 for Spring ’03 (5 days)
Mon 12/24 then for Fall ’03 (5 days)
Around Thu 12/27 or Fri 12/28 for Retreats and/or Builds (3-4 days, but over Christmas)
Spring ‘04 around Jan 2 or 3 then, after the new year)

Is that too much? They’re all in the 5-day-spring/fall, 2-day build pace. I’ll be around this holiday and happy to run the game straight thru, provided all the players are up for the same. Let me know your schedules if there are any times you need off.

I find it simply amazing that some of you continue to side with England and Germany in spite of the fact that they clearly are taking control of the board. I suppose you are planning to take solice in the fact that you helped the winners defeat you.

Happy new year. I would like to confirm Turkey's first point: Germany has never had any communication with Turkey, besides the two messages that were meant for all diplomats to see. Therefore, Germany considers himself in a neutral relationship or rather no relationship at all with Turkey. Germany does not wish to participate in the war against Austria: Germany has no alliance with or against Austria. The reason why Germany is not attacking Austria is because his interests lie elsewhere, and although Austria might have spread lies, these lies had no considerable negative effects on the German nation.

Greetings,

Lawrencelot

Happy New Year Diplomats --

Turkey once again finds itself in the position of having to counter false rumors planted against my interests. So let me state the following:

(1) Turkey has never had any communication with Germany during this game -- therefore the attempt to tell Russia that Turkey is conspiring with Germany against Russian interests is an elementary and rather simpleminded fabrication. I challenge the author of that lie to forward to all of us, via broadcast, any communication Turkey has had with Germany; and,

(2) Turkey has advised Russia not to protect Moscow because there is no immediate threat to that SC - instead, Russian armies are better used at present to present a solid wall against the German land forces to the west. More importantly, I ask why the German would hesitate at this point in launching an attack against Austrian SCs? The move is an obvious one that any experienced Diplomacy gamer would see as inevitable and next.

It's a shame that Austria's desperation has led to these attempts to shatter strong strategic decisions by Turkey, Russia, and Italy. The writing is on the wall for Austria if that tripartite alliance holds, and Turkey will not be the first to break that alliance.

The best way to fight Austrian lies is the bright light of truth via broadcast. As always, if this broadcast seems in any way ambiguous to any recipient, please contact Turkey and I will be glad to answer by broadcast any remaining issue.

Cheers --

This broadcast is to clarify Turkey's position with Austria so that no doubts will remain in the public domain. Despite the Archduke's desire to create confusion in the Southeast, Turkey considers herself in a state of war with Austria. Moreover, Turkey supports the efforts of her good ally Russia to hold off the Austrian, and Turkey supports her good friend Italy in that country's efforts to forestall the Austrian's misguided aggression in the Adriatic and southern Mediteranian.

Moves submitted by Austria -- such as the support for Turkey's AEG fleet into Bulgaria last round -- are simply an attempt to create disharmony and suspicion between Russia, Italy, and Turkey. The Sultanate remains committed to friendship and alliance with the Russian and the Italian governments in order to see through to the end the destruction of the Austrian state.

If this broadcast seems in any way ambiguous to any recipient, please contact Turkey and I will be glad to answer by broadcast any remaining issue.

dc133 f03 retreats! - test_gm   (Sep 13, 2007, 12:00 am)
Both dislodged parties opt to disband and rebuild, so we have the official retreats:

Hm. Ok, continuing with a little bit more! (Ctrl-V is paste, but Ctrl-Enter I guess is “Send prematurely”!)

Italy: disband A Marseilles
Russia: disband F St Petersburg(sc)

And then the builds to come by Wed-2. Think I’m still waiting for one more!

Unfortunately our Italian leader is out with the flu, so the deadline is hereby pushed back from tomorrow, to let’s say: Wed, Jan 2, 2pm Pacific.

If I do get a set of moves from all 7 marked final before then, I’ll be happy to run the turn early. If not marked final tho, and from all 7, then I’ll wait for the deadline like usual.

Happy Holidays,
-mike
