The German Solo EGP fails . . . . However, Germany still achieves the Solo
Victory with 18 Supply Centers. Congratulations Joe on your victory in
Round 1, of Winter Blitz 2010.
Congratulations, Joe. I wish that Will had understood that he had to choose
between an AGE 3-way, and a German Solo, but I don't blame you for
tempting him with the promise of a 2-way to get your Solo.
I have not asked for End-of-Game Statements from any one that was eliminated
earlier; however, everyone has elected to remain in the distribution. So,
if you all (including you guys that were eliminated) would put together your
EoG Statement, I am sure that there would be some interest. Please remember
that people are going to be interested in earlier action such as why you
decided to go the direction you did at the beginning of the game.
France and I didn't hit it off, but I felt like I got along alright
with everyone else.
Germany and.I agreed early on that he'd move east against Russia, and I'd
move south against France. That worked out pretty well, though France
chose to throw everything against me, and offer his southern Centers to Italy,
which slowed my development to the point where I didn't think I'd have a Solo
opportunity. Then I was able to slip into Tunis, and Austria offered to throw
the game to me, so I moved against Germany. As I did so, IT combined to
take Tunis back from me and it was clear that the Solo wasn't going to
happen, so I backed off of Germany, and moved back south. I tried to
set up ATE vs. G, but Austria took advantage of my plan, and stabbed
Turkey, so I opted to try to hold the line against Germany in Mar/Spa/Por,
and managed to get to a point where AE could have stalemated Germany
will minimal risk to me, but Austria opted to try to whittle me out, so I
threw the game to Germany as I had warned him I would. I'll be happy
to answer anyone's questions, if they have any for me.
Thanks,
