Thanks for GMing John! And this is the first tournament I've played with DipCorps, indeed only the 5th game I think. The group dynamic is quite good, some serious negotiators in the corps. I think I'm pretty good tactically, but the intrigue is top caliber here. Two three ways draws for me, so I can't complain. I'm surprised this one didn't go a bit longer, but there weren't many strategic options left.
Speaking of strategy, mine was not too complicated. France offered a non-aggression so I took it. In my opinion italy is usually better off with an AI in the early going so I went with that. My moves started off with a sort of Lepanto, which never seems to work for me. Nor did it here.
Austria was collapsing so I did what I had to do and was expecting to be the next victim of RT. However I think that concern over a rapid English advancement led them see value in the Italian forces. I signed on and they proved to be good allies, coordinating very well. The only other point I should comment on is my grab of Marseilles. Nothing against Joe, but I was sort of the jr partner with RT and really wanted to get a bit stronger. the opportunity was there and France realistically continued to work with us.
Thanks to all for an interesting game,
Charlie
