Hello Players,
England has failed to submit orders for the third time in a major season. As I said after the last time, he is out of chances. I declare the position abandoned. Fortunately, I have had someone waiting in the wings to help us out, so there will be no delay in the game -- beyond the small grace period this evening.
So, here we are with ten years come and gone in our little adventure. Congratulations to everyone (except England) for staying the course and, amazingly, staying in the game. Standard games with seven players still alive after ten years are rare indeed. Gunboat ones are unprecedented, in my experience. Not that we don't have a couple of players on the ropes, but all-in-all an outstanding
effort.
Highlights of this, our twentieth season:
. Germany strengthens his line against Austria by forcing his way into Silesia. The unfortunate defenders were not only outgunned by the German troops, but were forced to scatter into the fields as their only retreat was blocked by their own Rumanian division.
. The Rumanian army found a second reason to look embarrassed. It seems that while they were moving to "help" their comrades in Silesia, they forgot to lock the door behind them and a Russian army slipped in and made themselves at home. Add another unit to the Tsar's forces, now double what the were a few short years ago.
. In trading Rumania and Constantinople for Bulgaria, the Archduke has lost his long-standing status as the clear number 2 man on the board. Now on 6 SC, he is tied for second with Italy and France. The Kaiser, of course, leads the board with 9 SC in his control.
.
Not all Austrian moves proved futile, however. A Bulgaria finally made good on a long-standing promise and helped his Italian friends into Constantinople. The Sultan is down to his capital and his last unit. Don't count him out quite yet, though. He's a wily one.
. An Italian fleet steams into the English Channel. What does that mean? I'm not sure, but you have to admit there's a lot of potential for mischief there.
. In England, our substitute king beats a planned retreat to the safety (?) of Edinburgh. The friendly (??) Germans in the North Sea "helped" him push him along.
RETREATS: Turkish F Constantinople auto-retreats to Black Sea, its only legal option.
