Farsightedness: The Butterfly Effect states that a butterfly that flaps its wings in Malaysia could cause a typhoon in British Columbia. So too could minor variations in one part of the board affect play across the board. The Captain of Watch asesses the board for all possible impacts - both immediate and long-term.

Hi there,Personally, I do not think that a three-way draw is anything to be congratulated for, if that three-way draw is negotiated from early in the game. Call me old-fashioned, but a three-way draw should be something one is forced into, otherwise it is just the refuge of players who know they are not good enough to win on their own and will do anything rather than be eliminated. It is boring Diplomacy for the faint of heart. John
