PREV  Fall 1901 Adjudication:  NEXT

Well! As the orders trickled in, I found myself more and more shocked by each one. This turn has plenty of shocks, twists, combat, and intrigue.

France stabs into Munich, England overpowers Germany in Belgium, Italy and Austria clash in Trieste, Russia decides she wants Rumania more than Turkey, and finds unexpected and unneeded help into Sweden.

No retreats, so into Winter. Gunboat, so that's in 24 hours. What does your power have to do this turn?

PRESS:

The Sublime Porte announced that the hostile actions of the Tsar's fleet off Crimea only reinforces their resolve to return Tartary to its glory.
Her Majesty and Empress Victoria has made clear to the Admiralty and Army that protecting Flanders from the Hun is of primacy.
-----------------
Austria Hungary announces that should Italian- Turkish hostilities commence they will examine closely actions to determine intentions.
AH to Russia. We believe you might move again to our Galician province. If so leave or it's war.
Her Majesty and Empress Victoria has made clear to the Admiralty and Army that protecting Flanders from the Hun is of primacy.
------
England to France: thank you for the friendly gesture. As you will see I have refrained from attacking you and suggest we move against Germany. Ultimately Belgium is yours and Holland mine?
-----
France - Italy: DMZ in GoL and Pie agreed. Best of luck in the East.
France - England: Assuming you don't take Bre, can we be friends? I have obviously moved aggressively in another direction. DMZ Channel? You get Bel/Hol; we work out the rest?
France - England: Guess that means war then.
France - Italy: DMZ sounds good.
-----
England to Germany: How dare you threaten the defenceless Walloons and Flems in Belgium - we will honour our treaty to protect their neutrality which you have brutally threatened.
------
Germany to Austria. Surely we can find common ground against our enemies.
Germany - all players: my code word is lederhosen.
Germany to Russia: lederhosen. Sweden is yours!
Germany to France: your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries you Cheese eating villain. We see your entry into Burgundy as war!!

From the Reichskomiserate for communicating to foreigners:

His Royal Highness the Kaiser, recalls that the Great Russ are said to have been founded by the Varangians. It is therefore seems only right and proper that the sons of the Varangians should return to the homes of their forebears. The Kaiser has instructed the Imperial fleet to support these efforts. Furthermore the Kaiser would welcome a Russian naval presence in the arctic.

Less welcome is the presence of French soldiers on the borders of the Kaiser's realms. Perhaps the French would be better to see to what should be the French Channel. England no doubt seeks to gain a foothold in continental Europe.
------
Italy - France. We do not expect to see a Fleet on the Mediterranean coast of Iberia!
Italy- Russia. I’m baffled by the code word idea - surely anyone can write vodka?! Explain.
Italy-France: Nothing to fear from me- focus on your northern problem
Italy-Russia: Keep pushing for Gal and I will meet you in Budapest
Pasta-Vodka: Attack on Austria agreed
-------
Russia - Everyone: vodka. Ok, you know this is me, ignore any messages not using my code word.
Russia to Turkey: vodka, On second thought let's take out Austria.
Russia-Turkey: vodka. I will not rest until I have destroyed you
------
Turkey-Italy: No to the Lepanto- if you focus on Austria I will assist you
From the true Ottoman Porte - to all the empires and nations of Europe. The Sultan's emissaries had difficulties in the spring to get their messages to the press, and that led to several false communications.
The truth is that the Ottoman Empire doubts which of its neighbors wants to attack Constantinople earlier and that is why it had to protect itself above all from an advance by the Tsar's troops, which would have been lethal. But the Sultan is waiting for signs to find some ally to help avoid a quick partition of the Empire.

Diplomacy games may contain lying, stabbing, or deliberately deceiving communications that may not be suitable for and may pose a hazard to young children, gullible adults, and small farm animals.
