PREV  Spring 1940 Adjudication:  NEXT

Hello and welcome to the 1940's!

There was lots of movement and bouncing this season. Balkans attempted to move on Macedonia and Rumania, but was held back by Turkey and USSR respectively. England attempted to take Norway, but his support was cut from German controlled Denmark. England was able to dislodge Turkey from the Lebanon Sea. France continued to move south this season, taking possession of Barcelona, but bouncing in the Gulf of Lyon. Germany is expanding, moving east and west, even into La Manche (aka English Channel). Italy did some repositioning this season, but was able to hold France from entering the Gulf of Lyon. USSR bounced with Balkans in Rumania and had a stalemate in Norway and the North Sea with England. Turkey had planned to take Bulgaria this season, but had to defend Macedonia instead from the Balkans. Turkey also lost his position the Lebanon Sea. Spain was unable to defend Barcelona from the French, and started the long trek across the Sahara desert. Hopefully they will find their way and not be taken in by a mirage...

The Spanish fleet in Barcelona can retreat to Palma Sea or disband. The Turkish fleet in the Lebanon Sea can retreat to Adana, Carian Sea, Palestina, Syria or disband.

Disbanding can be a strategy to allow a player to rebuild a unit in a supply center in need of protection a distance away from the disbanded unit's current location, almost like an extra build. It might not always be the best option if you are already in danger of losing a supply center, or in the Spring season of the game year since you will be without a unit until Winter adjustments. I will often offer the disbanding option simply as a reminder that it exists.

Another reminder – please be on time with your orders. Submit orders early and revise them as necessary as the deadline approaches.

The Retreat orders from Spain and Turkey are due on Wednesday, January 15 at 08:30 pm PST (04:30 16-1-20 GMT)
