PREV  Fall 1904 Adjudication:  NEXT

Hi everyone,

Please read this email carefully. The reason I was late was because I had the closest thing I've ever had to a diplomacy paradox - I had to get the opinion of another GM for how to adjudicate this turn.

What happened was that France had two supports on Munich, and supported the English into Kiel from Munich. Germany attacked Munich from Kiel with support from Tyrolia (although this was cut by Italy) and Berlin. Kiel was disbanded and has fallen into the hands of the English.

Why? The rule that a unit cannot dislodge a unit which is supporting an attack on it stands. Kiel attacked Munich which was supporting an attack into Kiel hence why no support was cut and why Kiel got disbanded. Had Tyrolia or Berlin attacked Munich instead, the support would have been cut and Kiel would have held. But because Kiel was attacking a space that was supporting an attack on it, the French support is not cut. Below is a more simplified version of the rule which shows why Kiel fell.

I really hope that was clear, understandable, and adjudicated in a way that everyone was happy with. If not please let me know. I can understand any confusion - at first glance I thought that RealWorld had to be wrong.

Given how long this email is already is, I'll refrain from any commentary. Germany, you have a retreat for fleet Denmark. It can go to either Helgoland Bight, Skagerrak or OTB. That will be due by Sunday the 3rd of May, 22:00 NZST. If Germany's retreat is marked final, I may adjudicate earlier.

Thanks,
Dan

----
Scotland - players: The Scottish Government would like to make clear that we may be part of Britain, but we are NOT part of England. Edinburgh retains the right to declare full independence because of this outrage.
----
AH to Italy Hope I supported the right unit ...

AH to Russia Perhaps we should look to the west and settle our differences.

AH to Germany Fear not I am coming to your aid.
----
England - France: If I am in Kiel I will support you into Berlin this go.
----
Paris: The cafes are full of cheers and more wine than normal is being consumed on news of an impending royal birth. News that the French leader is expecting a baby girl in the next few days has Parisians in an unusually happy spirit for wartime.

France-England: Gave the support I could for Kiel. Completely expect it to fail this time out. (Editors note: lol) Once we get a German disband things will look easier for you to take Kiel in 1905. You seem to be managing the North pretty well!
----
Risotto-Wienerscnitzel: The move to Tyr is not an invasion-just trying to interfere with German operations and help my French friend. I am hoping for your support from Syr-Smy, but didn't get the chance to specify unit. I hope it has worked out. I'll support your army to Con if this has worked out.

Pasta-Kebab: sorry about this.
