DC191 Study In Baltic - Fall 1907 - The Musgrave Ritual

Holmes strode along the dock towards the Gloria Scott, mentally preparing himself for the confrontation that was about to ensue. He and his friend had landed in quite a spot of trouble - but he rest easy in the knowledge that the two of them still had some aces left to play.

Ahead of them, the men on the boat called down to the Stockbroker's Clerk with a ritual greeting.

"Where was the sun?'
'Over the oak.'
'Where was the shadow?'
'Under the elm.'

A plank was extended down to the dock - apparently the all-clear signal had been given. Holmes started forward, when suddenly a commotion ensued and two splashes could be heard from either side. Gun in hand, the goon leader turned towards them only to find Watson's cane driving at full velocity towards him. With a solid thump, the Stockbroker's Clerk was down on the ground, his weapon now easily secured by Holmes' eager companion. "Swine!" he cried. "Forgot who you were dealing with, by Jove. Why don't you go for a swim in the Baltic?! Holmes. Let's get out of here!"

"Watson," Holmes replied. "Why would we go anywhere when Mary is on that boat waiting for us?" Stunned, his friend could only look at him in shock. "It's all right, my friend. Let us go find your wife then. But keep that gun handy - or better yet, do not relinquish that fearsome cane of yours..."

------------------

The Finnish send the Polish fleet in the Mid-Baltic for a swim of their own, but asides from that not much else changes on the board. Winter 1907 adjustments are simple - only Poland gains a build to replace the one sent into the drink. Deadline for Winter 1907 adjustments will be set for Saturday, October 4th (11:59 PM GMT).

Further diplomatic missions have been fruitful - we have a 3-way Finnish/Swedish/Polish draw proposal for your consideration. Please have your yay or nay votes for this with the Winter adjustment deadline. (i.e. Saturday.)

Cheers folks! Please let me know if you spot any errors.
