Any GM interested in starting a Colonial Game - Sean2010 (Apr 25, 2010, 11:11 am) |
Hello Dirk,
I never GMed before, and I haven't toyed with the alternative mapping tools to realpolitik files yet (due to my computer being unable to read realpolitik files, it comes up looking like computer giberish).[Reply] |

It looks interesting. This was produced for real and available in stores? |
Any GM interested in starting a Colonial Game (Open Games) FuzzyLogic Aug 22, 09:57 pm |
Supposedly yeah, tho I've never seen Colonial played face to face. It's been played 8 times here at dc...

Have you actually installed the Realpolitik software? It is fairly straight forward. You go to Resources -> Downloads, download the RP 1.7, unzip it, then run the installation / setup file.
Yeah if you just open a .dpy game file without having RP installed, it will just be sorta jibberish. It's a textual coding of everything that's happened in a game, that Realpolitik can interpret. |
Any GM interested in starting a Colonial Game (Open Games) Sean2010 Aug 25, 03:22 pm |
1). Yes, I've finally been able to download Realpolitik files, but I haven't been able to download files from diplomaticcorp yet.
2). Yes, Colonial had actually made rounds through the stores. I had gotten mine from "Hobby Town USA" before the store closed down, but this was before Hasbro had bought the rights from Avalon-Hill. |
Any GM interested in starting a Colonial Game (Open Games) garry.bledsoe Sep 03, 03:09 pm |
Not sure if you know or not but for a MAC you actually have to go and change the extension of the file when you download a .dpy file from the DC site. The Mac tries to do the "right-click" download as a .dpy.txt file and thus opens it with a document type of program. Rename the file without the .txt and you can open it in RP.
Hope that helps. |

DC305 - 1902 Winter Builds - ignite107 (Apr 24, 2010, 11:13 am) |
An interesting turn of builds. France builds a fleet in Marseilles in anticipation of an Italian abandonment, while Russia benefits from a poor Turkish decision in trying to build in Bulgaria (you can only build in your home SCs). Germany is going to look to hold on, but what will England do? They don't really have too many places left.
FYI - At any point during Spring or Fall you may put an allied win up for vote. All submissions for wins are anonymous and will be voted on by everyone who remains. Civil Disorders will not get a vote. A vote must be unanimous.

This year the Persians move swiftly across the Alps into Western Europe, while after years of fierce warfare, the Carthaginians push Egypt out of Leptis. DC 306: Sengoku Rev6DP - Spring 1572 - NMR - Kenshi777 (Apr 23, 2010, 12:02 pm) |
My apologies to all for the delayed adjudication. I was attempting to
verify what unfortunately did prove to be an NMR from Mori. I further
ran into a network outage at the office this morning that was just
resolved. Which brings us to the here and now - hand adjudicating at
my reserve center, with no access to RP or a map editor. I would like
to ask if one of you would please enter these results into your copy
of RP, and then send the map and RP file to all the players/observers
receiving this email. I will check the DPY file and map, and certify
them as official when I am home.
TEAHOUSE COMMENTARY, by Sen Rikyu: The mighty Takeda have been driven
from their home, and divided by Uesugi, Oda, and Hojo...but what will
come of those three now? Tsutsui Junkei of Yamato has fallen before
the armies of Asakura and Oda, and was abandoned by his neighbour
Suzuku Sadayu of Kii. Chosokabe begins his own drive for the capital
and the shogunate, surging into Harima. Mori rests for a season, but
seems to have suffered no loss in the spring, while Shimazu prepares
to receive Chosokabe's wrath...

DC 298 winter 1915 Adjucation - untitled36 (Apr 23, 2010, 8:27 am) |
Technically I'm getting this out before the deadline, but I have all the moves in, so we're going with that. Otherwise my adjucation would be significantly delayed. I missed getting a chance to comment on the great I/R falling out, but I'm sure you've all picked up on that
The winter moves were mostly as expected, though Russia chooses to build a northern fleet and focus there rather than shore up his defense in the south.
Also, received a DIAS proposal and an IFR proposal. Please vote on both with spring orders!
France:
Remove F Mid-Atlantic Ocean
Italy:
Build A Naples
Russia:
Build F St Petersburg(nc)
Build A Moscow
