DC 312 Fall 1904 adjucation - untitled36   (Apr 23, 2010, 8:20 am)
I'm going to have a slight delay getting this out. But remeber that germany taking hol means germany gets 2 builds, and england breaks even. Adjucation will be out later.

DC317; The German War Cabinet in session - packrat   (Apr 23, 2010, 7:58 am)
More than likely the meeting was more about kitchen cabinets than a
war cabinet.  As we can see from the Kaiser's grasp of history his air
force will ultimately be like his diplomacy - little more than a bunch of
hot air with little substance.  Perhaps it should be called an air fArce?
The French High Command (and sometimes they are) also suggests
that the sour kraut not give up his day job.  Especially since we are
counting on his staying in power to complete our assimilation of the
German wastelands.

Kaiser Fresh looked up from his desk, alarmed, as his adjutant opened the door - once again without knocking.

"The War Cabinet has arrived Sir!"

Hurriedly concealing a pamphlet entitled "Diplomacy for Amateurs" beneath the muddle of papers, the Kaiser adopted an expression that he hoped appeared both stern and welcoming.

Admiral Turgidz and the others took their seats

"A message from the French, Sir!"

The Kaiser looked aghast;

"They haven't ruined the lawns again have they?!"

"No Sir, the French have abandoned that method of communication"

The Kaiser breathed a sigh of relief,

"Thank goodness! - My boots were ruined after stamping out the last one - what method have they adopted this time?"

The Adjutant looked mildly perplexed.

"Our code breakers are working on it now Sir - the French missive was written using the dismembered body parts of one of those sad clowns, scattered about the grounds of the Reichstag, Sir!"

"I really can't keep up with their fashions! - What do they say?"

"It's hard to tell Sir, but apparently the French are warning us against the dangers of making friends with ourselves, Sir"

The Kaiser frowned.

"They may well have a point ... There's only one thing for it!"

The War Cabinet looked on expectantly

"...We must capitulate to the Russians!"

The War Cabinet rolled it's collective eyes, then silently scowled at the adjutant until he felt compelled to respond;

"If I may Sir, Perhaps another line of strategy might be adopted this time... In any case, you know that every time we try to capitulate to the Russians, our Generals pretend they haven't received the order, Sir"

Admiral Turgidz butted in;

"There is also the urgent matter of our Fleet in the North Sea, Sir!"

Not to be outdone, Field Marshal Belcher piped up;

"And I trust you have a plan regarding the raising of a new army, Sir?"

At that, the Kaiser's eyes gleamed.

"Yes indeed Field Marshal! You must contact the factory in Kiel immediately and tell them.... to build an airforce!"

DC317; The German War Cabinet in session - Nigs   (Apr 23, 2010, 6:16 am)
Message from the front:
1) The Germans are really being ordered to retreat by their High Command. Unfortunately our spies have been too successful at infiltrating, so the order is in Russian, and their maps are the wrong way round, so they keep retreating eastwards.
2)The Germans have found a use for the copious amounts of hot air generated: Air Fleet Kiel is to be Zeppelin based.
3)The sneaky English have managed to outlast the austrians by prolonging weekends to 7 days. The French won't attack at the weekend, and the Germans keep heading west the wrong way.
4) The mission to assassinate the german leader and install a Fresh Kaiser has fallen foul of german grammar.

1648 091010: Spring 1657 Moves - Correction - charlesf   (Apr 23, 2010, 5:02 am)

I'm afraid a mistake crept into the past
adjucation. Apparently by misclick I managed to enter "A Trieste - Greater
Poland" rather than Mike's actual order "A Trieste Supports A Venice Hold".
Thanks, Mike, for pointing that out. Not that it makes any material difference,
but we obviously want an entirely correct record. You players checking things
over is the last line of defence against such snafus.

Anyway, you'll find the corrected adjucation further below.

----------

Hallo zusammen,

well, Novgorod must now be no more than a heap of rubbles. The city has now
changed hands six times over the past decade and perhaps the suffering
inhabitants shall now find some peace under Polish rule.

John II Casimir also will have received welcome news from his naval
commanders as a Polish squadron has for the very first time (in variant history,
I might add) made a successful naval sortie.

The territorial status quo in Germany remains much the same, yet in Italy
the old order has taken another hit as the Spanish viceroy in Naples chose to
pack his bags rather than trying to mount a spirited defence against the
oncoming Ottoman hordes.

Well, I hope Bayern Munich will display more of the élan the Turks have
shown (and they've got the Turkish player Altintop in their ranks!) than them
simply surrending the midfield to Olympique Lyon in the manner Spain has
relinquished Italy. Okay, totally specious analogy... I'm just looking forward
to tonight's game! Smile

The Summer deadline follows on Friday, while the Fall 1657 prelims are due
on Monday and the final deadline shall follow on 28 April, 6 PM
CET.

Liebe Grüsse,

Charles

DC317; The German War Cabinet in session (Winter Blitz) packrat Apr 23, 07:58 am

Subject: DC317; The German War Cabinet in session

Kaiser Fresh looked up from his desk, alarmed, as his adjutant opened the door - once again without knocking.

"The War Cabinet has arrived Sir!"

Hurriedly concealing a pamphlet entitled "Diplomacy for Amateurs" beneath the muddle of papers, the Kaiser adopted an expression that he hoped appeared both stern and welcoming.

Admiral Turgidz and the others took their seats

"A message from the French, Sir!"

The Kaiser looked aghast;

The War Cabinet rolled it's collective eyes, then silently scowled at the adjutant until he felt compelled to respond;

"If I may Sir, Perhaps another line of strategy might be adopted this time... In any case, you know that every time we try to capitulate to the Russians, our Generals pretend they haven't received the order, Sir"

Admiral Turgidz butted in;

"There is also the urgent matter of our Fleet in the North Sea, Sir!"

Not to be outdone, Field Marshal Belcher piped up;

"And I trust you have a plan regarding the raising of a new army, Sir?"

At that, the Kaiser's eyes gleamed.

"Yes indeed Field Marshal! You must contact the factory in Kiel immediately and tell them.... to build an airforce!"

As previous mentioned this will be an 1898 varient.  It will use the standard starting home centers and starting units.  Home centers other than your home centers will be claimed at the end of year 2.  At the end of year any centers that you control will become your home centers for the rest of the game.  They will be your only home centers.  A starting map is attached as a gif and as a realpolitik file.

dc-316 fall 1904 results! - coryfucius   (Apr 22, 2010, 5:17 pm)
Unfortunately, France NMRs again...

Germany retakes Denmark from England and holds on to Sweden in the face of the combined E/R attack, but loses Munich to Russia.  This leaves England even in centers, as England gains control of Holland, and also limits the German loss to St. Pete, which Russia reoccupied in the spring.  Meanwhile, Italy guesses correctly (or Turkey guesses incorrectly) and picks up two vacated yellow centers.

There are two Autumn retreats due:
  The English fleet in Denmark may retreat to Helgoland Bight, North Sea, or OTB.
  The German army in Munich may retreat to Berlin, Burgundy, Ruhr, Tyrolia, or OTB.

Winter adjustments will be due as follows:
  England:  no change (build 1 if retreat OTB)
  Germany:  remove 1  (no change if retreat OTB)
  Italy:  build 2
  Russia:  build 1
  Turkey:  remove 2

Both the Autumn 1904 retreats and the Winter 1904 adjustments will be due tomorrow, Friday 4/23 at 3pm Central (US) / 21:00 GMT.  Please keep in mind that you may submit conditional adjustment orders based on the retreats.  Thanks!

dc308 - Winter 1902 Results - z93blom   (Apr 22, 2010, 3:34 pm)
Gentlemen,
This has been a fantastic game so far with no NMRs. Let's keep up the good work. I think that a game with no NMRs runs much better than a game with continual NMRs. Therefore I've decided to suspend the current adjudication by 24 hours while I wait for an orderset that has not come through. To be fair I will allow each one of you one such 24-hour grace period.

The current turn is due in less than 21½ hours from now.

Current turn: Spring 1903 Movement

Current Deadline: Friday, 23nd of April, 18:00 GMT (6PM).

dc311 f04 results! - FuzzyLogic   (Apr 22, 2010, 2:55 pm)
Germany seems to be the big winner this year (let's all give a polite clap for Dirk) for gaining those 3 dots, slipping into Saint Pete's, and taking it to the Poles in Warsaw.  Russians live to tell stories of "when I was a kid, we only had ONE center - and we had to walk up hill, both ways" for yet another year, and everyone sets up for a huge battle over Tunis - only to return to their ships empty handed.

Austrian A Rum is dislodged, may go to Gal or Bud.
