WB DC295 SU09 MAP COMING LATER - vegas_iwish   (Mar 09, 2010, 5:49 pm)
Same with DC post. Probs. G rets to Hel. Remember to have draw votes with Thurs orders. If you don't vote - that is a no. If you want to ponder scoring effects of the draw - ck with Mike S & the other directors.

DC 306: New Icons! - Lefebvre   (Mar 09, 2010, 5:43 pm)
Hey, I like that. Reservoir Dogs and Diplomacy have a lot in common - I wonder if there's a variant in there?

Whadda we gonna tip the waitress?

Jean-Luc.

The following update is purely preferential, but for those who would
prefer to see historically accurate unit icons, delete the original
variant files and replace them with these.

Note - any saved games you have with the old files should still work
fine with the new ones, but your player color *may* have changed
slightly.

Thanks!

the deadline arrive and I have to adjudicate a bunch of orders as

VALID - (2 DP) A Yamashiro S (Chosokabe) F Osaka Bay - Settsu

INVALID - (1 DP) A Yamashiro - Settsu (Neutrals cannot move)

Neutrals cannot move - they can only be ordered to support other

No prob - this time - do *not* erase all the existing files. Only
extract the files in the attached zip into and alongside the existing
icon files foler (which is inside your SengokuRev6DP folder)

You know, I was going to ask why we had cannons and battleships, but then I felt like I would be a nerd (and a picky one at that) for asking.

Really, this is awesome. Thanks.

The following update is purely preferential, but for those who would
prefer to see historically accurate unit icons, delete the original
variant files and replace them with these.

Note - any saved games you have with the old files should still work
fine with the new ones, but your player color *may* have changed
slightly.

Thanks!

GM Notes:

Vacations: Some players have already sent in when they’ll be away. That’s great, and I’ll schedule around that to ensure that players always have at least two business days (M-F) of dipping time on any turn… but I will not post anything to the group about who is away. That is up to the individuals if they want such to be known.

Prelims: A few players got moves in fairly close to the last day. Again I can’t stress enough how much you should get in the habit of using prelims. With 19 players in the game, it is definitely easier on me if I go to check my folder a couple days before the deadline and have 19 sets ready and waiting.

**************************************************

And so we have our first turn results! Navies clash over the Sea of Shadows and the High Seas, while armies battle for the Kingdom of Hearts and Sinking Shore. Other than those it seems most players got out their opening moves in one form or another, tho the fall turn looks to be intense as many key centers are going to be decided.

edit an .ICO file in MSPaint even, and then just change the color in

Ben,

I miss the miniscule letters on the sails. It helped me remember where the clans are located (since they used the first letter of the clan). Any way of adding them back in?

No prob - this time - do *not* erase all the existing files. Only
extract the files in the attached zip into and alongside the existing
icon files foler (which is inside your SengokuRev6DP folder)

The following update is purely preferential, but for those who would
prefer to see historically accurate unit icons, delete the original
variant files and replace them with these.

Note - any saved games you have with the old files should still work
fine with the new ones, but your player color *may* have changed
slightly.

Thanks!

Even the mighty Sicilians couldn't help Rome into Vin, as the Greeks put up a fierce fight... in the end both parties call it a night and return home, neither getting the spoils.

Of course we have lots of builds! Let's have them by Thu 3/11, 3pm Central - with builds, know that any time I have a full set of builds I'll send out the results, even if early - unless you request otherwise. 1648 091010: Winter 1654 Retreats/Adjustments - charlesf   (Mar 09, 2010, 12:32 pm)
Hallo zusammen,

now that three of the four pillars of the Swedish realm have been knocked down (i.e. Finland, Livonia and Sweden proper), only the German pillar remains. Confined to North-Eastern Germany, Sweden arguably now bears more of a resemblance to Brandenburg-Prussia under the Great Elector than come across as a Scandinavian power. That being said, Brandenburg-Prussia never quite had enough of a naval arsenal as to amount to a single fleet in game-terms. Though the Great Elector did build up a sizable merchant navy to engage in the triangular trade (and to that end he had established a colony in Western Africa later in the 17th century. Kinda following the example of the Duke of Courland who had established colonies on Tobago and on the African coast). But I digress...

Looks like Europe's statesman are saving for a rainy day, given the number of builds that are being banked. Now, on whom will it pour?

Note that we shall have our next deadline on the 22nd. So we'll take the opportunity of Mike's travelling to shift again to a Wednesday/Friday routine.

Liebe Grüsse,

Charles

Fall 1903: A historic moment: Austria, still in Civil Disorder, finds itself under heavy attack by combined Italian/Russian forces and falls apart. Austria is no longer.

DC 293: Priceless Russian Treasure Discovered - AceRimmer   (Mar 09, 2010, 8:46 am)
My apologies... in a situation eerily similar to Chris' wrong Adam, I sent this re-adjudication to the wrong 'Blitz' in my address list. Chris is right that there was a re-adjudication. I am sorry this didn't go out to all of you yesterday! But as there are no retreats due today, perhaps all will be okay.

Mistakenly attached to the backside of Repin's "Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan: November 16, 1581" (a truly great Russian work of art)... we have discovered the lost Russian orders. [They were accidentally not sent to me, but they did go to the orders confirmation address. This may lead to a revision of the Blitz rules, as the rules do not clearly address this situation. In the future, failure to correctly designate the GM's address may disqualify orders, even if sent to the confirmation address]. Anyhow... it's a new adjudication! As you might guess, England is probably not going to be happy.

Because there is no Russian retreat, there is no need for a Retreats phase. The Turkish fleet in Western Med still retreats to North Africa. The English army in Belgium is disbanded. Fall orders are due on Thursday.

Finally, a note to Mr. Morse: the Russian army in St. Petersburg does not exist. However, your Finnish army received no orders, so it stands.

Revised S1909 Adjudication:

Trolls Lose FOUR Under an Onslaught from the Ogres
Can Anyone Stop the Ogres? Were Elvish Scryers Right When They Foretold Ogren Dominance After
Being Abandoned by ALL Races When They Stabbed?

Okay...I know! I am probably carrying the "I told you so" too far but it IS a LOT of fun for me! What a game! I love the twists. You guys are putting on quite a battle.

To business - we have several retreats due:

Undead F To-Gai-Ru can retreat to ALL SAINTS BAY.
Troll F Enchanted Isles can retreat to BABEL BEACH.
Undead F ZEBOIMS DEEP can retreat to SAVAGE SEA or Pwyll (technically also ALL SAINTS BAY but
that is the ONLY option for F To-Gai-Ru so...)

Of course any of these can retreat OTB. Basically I will need one Undead retreat given that all of the others have one option.

The deadline for that is Sunday night at 8pm CST. I will be out of town for the weekend so I can't get it out sooner. From there we will have a quick deadline for Winter, Tuesday the 9th at 6pm CST. From there we will have an extended Spring 17 turn due to a player vacation (details on that with Winter).

PLEASE double-check. As you have no doubt noticed your GM is quite capable of mistakes!

NICK - thanks for filling in and fighting on until the end! On that note...a bit from our dearly departed Knight...

PRESS
Barring a miracle, goodbye from the Knights! This position was weak when I took it over, but I managed to stay alive by mending ties with the Archers as we fought off the Rogues/Faeries/Trolls. I tried to split up that trio, but only really got replies from Michael (the Rogues), and although there was willingness on both sides to find some solution, he was too committed already to an attack on me, and there was no real way for us to ally as long as he was unwilling to break his alliance with the Faeries.

To my surprise, the Trolls suddenly stabbed the Rogues, and a thin beam of light appeared at the end of the previously pitch-black tunnel. There was a critical moment when some Troll support in the top right part of the board could have shifted the balance to our side, as the Faeries and Rogues were relatively weak here and there was pressure from the underground on Dragons Teeth Mts. A breakthrough to Kingdom of Hearts could have allowed me and the Archers to hold on indefinitely. There wasn't much communication, and Warren decided instead to devote his units to the top-left part of the board in Anvard and Immoren, trying to destroy the Rogue position here. The Archers were knocked out, and then the top right part of the board from Cathal to Andarien Plain got rolled up by the Faeries/Rogues, and it was only a matter of time for the Knights.

TTP (DC301) - Spring & Summer 1900 Maps - douglasefresh at googl...   (Mar 09, 2010, 7:36 am)
Along with countless scores of other determined-looking men, Agent Fresh shuffled slowly forward in the queue, which ran along the walls of the Amalienburg, and through the gates of the Hofstallungen. So much for the crisp air of the Alpes - The throng seeking induction into Tesarik's People's Army gave off a collective scent more akin to subterranean waste disposal systems. Duly arriving before a surly quartermaster, Fresh was issued with a simple, but serviceable new firearm and instructions for his mustering point.

Due to the tip-off from 'Kamerad T'; Fresh had infiltrated Vienna before the Yugoslavian Army's arrival and now, it seemed, his next destination would be decided by the head of a military coup, currently conducting his operations from Serbia. Good news that Kamerad T had regained his liberty, although his colleague asserted with some seriousness in his report that he "may never again buy goats in Sarajevo".

So much for working as Head of the Surveillance Dept. of Europes' oldest and most secret power... It was back to basics
for Agent Fresh: No doubt standing tall, charging forward and firing shots at similarly instructed strangers would prove his lot for the next few months. A prospect, as he trudged through the paved byways of the Hoffburg, that Fresh in no way relished. Ah well - there was no way back now: -

Welcome to the Twentieth Century.

Thanks for getting orders in on time folks, I hope you will forgive the continual prodding reminders as we draw close to deadline. This can of course be avoided with the simple act of sending prelimiary orders as soon as you have viewed the attached maps Smile
No retreats, so Summer map is attached too.

Our next turn is Fall 1900, and I shall be adjudicating slightly later than usual. I shall attempt next tuesday night, but there is a chance you will not receive the adjudication until Wednesday 17th.
HOWEVER! DEADLINE FOR FALL 1900 REMAINS AS: NEXT TUESDAY 16th MARCH 12NOON GMT
Despite my comment above, I will not have a chance to send reminders for this turn, so please make sure you supply me with preliminary, or final orders at your earliest convenience.

Best

DC300 - further explanation of Grace periods - bielf11   (Mar 09, 2010, 4:48 am)
Hi everyone,

I found that the Grace Periods need further explanation. With this change grace periods won't cause multiple deadline extensions for one turn.

To be fair this will apply from today's adjudication forward.

Every player has 2 Grace periods for the whole game. A grace period extends the deadline for 24 hrs.
Grace periods can be requested (nice) or assigned (when no orders are received before the deadline).
Each turn can only have ONE grace period. Regardless of who got the grace period.
That means that in a turn only the first grace period is applied; any player who misses the extended deadline due to the grace period, NMRs; regardless of whether this is the same player as the one responsible for the grace period of that turn.

The grace periods are meant to give you a break in unforeseen circumstances. For other situations read on.
If you know that you're going to be unable to submit orders in the near future (say: holidays, work, etc) I can push deadlines out. This does not count against your grace periods. I will do so ONLY IF I know about you're unavailability BEFORE I send out the adjudication with the next deadline. So when the turn has started, you're too late. Since the deadlines for major turns are on fixed days (Mondays 17:00GMT) and for minor turns within 2 days after, you can check for yourself whether your schedule is going to be a problem.

Frank

DC302 Announcement - psychosis1973   (Mar 09, 2010, 4:19 am)
Gentlemen

I've been in touch with the German player and he's asked to withdraw from the game. Given the early stage the game is still at, I'll be seeking a replacement for the German position. As such, I'm placing the game on hold until a replacement player is found. You'll shortly see the opening for the replacement player on the DC website. Once I've got a replacement lined up, I'll be back in touch with a new deadline

Michael

DC289: 24h for Spring 1903 - Rocketship   (Mar 09, 2010, 12:45 am)
Hi Folks,

Deadline has passed and I'm still without orders from France. I am invoking France's 24h grace period. If I do not have French orders within 24 hours, an NMR will be issued.

All other players are free to submit new orders during this time.

Cheers,

Matthew

Although I didn't see Paraguay in the proposal i figure it must just be a GM typo. I'll vote yes on the draw.
