.ExternalClass .EC_hmmessage P {padding:0px;} .ExternalClass EC_body.hmmessage {font-size:10pt;font-family:Tahoma;} Okay Gentleman, game Start.

At the bottom of this email, I am going to write a brief 'how to' guide for those of you who have never played online diplomacy.

1) Deadline. Because it took me a little longer to get the game started (i was flat our with work yesterday) I am going to set out first deadline for Christmas Day (hold on!!)

Decemeber 25th 9pm Australian EST. (Now that will be Christmas eve for most of you, and christmas day for our player in Japan). Whilst I know many of our players are absent from the 23rd onwards, i just wanted to give you an couple of extra days. However if anyone feels this deadline is too short and wants more time, just let me know.

The next deadline after that will be around januray 8th.

2) Starting Map. I have attached a starting map for those who need it. At any time during the game, the current map can be found at www.diplomaticcorp.com under ACTIVE GAMES under dc142.

3) PRELIMS are an excellent idea. Everyone should always try and send me a preliminary set of moves so that if real life inteferes and you cannot get onto a computer near a deadline you dont get caught short. You can change your moves as many times as you want so it does not bother me how many times you send moves, as long as i get at least one set. Also, if you dont a 'confirmation received' email from me within 24 hours of sending your moves, assume i have not go them and send again or send to my alternative email stevelytton(at)gmail.com (stevelytton(at)gmail.com)

4) Ask me any question you like, any time.

5) Country assignments and email addressess

France is Sean, seanpolar2000(at)yahoo.com (seanpolar2000(at)yahoo.com)
Turkey is Darren/Twig, jensends(at)yahoo.com (jensends(at)yahoo.com)
Germany is Steve, mapleleafbc(at)yahoo.com (mapleleafbc(at)yahoo.com)
Austria is Michael, m_d_thompson(at)hotmail.com (m_d_thompson(at)hotmail.com)
Russia is Bob, robertcolvin(at)gmail.com (robertcolvin(at)gmail.com)
Italy is Matthew, matthew-madigan(at)hotmail.co.uk (matthew-madigan(at)hotmail.co.uk)
England is Hallidor, slickcamper(at)gmail.com (slickcamper(at)gmail.com)

*******************************************************************
A quick how to play diplomacy by email.

Basically it is just like normal diplomacy except all your conversations are done by email. So a basic plan would be

1) Email some prelims to your GM
2) Email messages to all the other players
3) respond to replies - formulate a plan
4) edit your moves by sending new moves to the GM if neccesary
5) wait for adjudication

Now that is very simple. There are more complex elements to email such as some players have been known to forward emails, or BCC people. Now whilst this is NOT against the rules, if done too often a player may get a reputation for doing such and thus people may email you less.

This is a very simple explanation, so if you need more, just ask because i am tired.

Diplomacy games may contain lying, stabbing, or deliberately deceiving communications that may not be suitable for and may pose a hazard to young children, gullible adults, and small farm animals.
