Subject: DC170 Winter Blitz game start!

Welcome to DC170, everyone. For most of you, this is your second game of the Winter Blitz tournament, so I'll get right down to business. My name is Cory Burris, and I will serve as your GM in this game. I have been involved in Diplomacy and this group for nearly 2 years now, which I suppose makes me a veteran around here. I hail from Chatham, Illinois, USA, and work as an analyst in our Governor's budget office. If anyone out there can spare $1 billion, please send it our way...

When sending me communications regarding this game, please be sure to include in your e-mail's subject line the following info:
DC170 [power] [season] [year] [version of orders]
For example, Germany would send his first set of orders for fall 1902 with the subject line "DC170 Germany fall 1902 orders, v1". I am currently serving as GM in two other games as well, so for my e-mail filter to work properly, the game number is critical! Also, since Yahoo mail is not 100% reliable, I encourage everyone to send orders to both my e-mail addresses, coryfucius (at) yahoo (dot) com and coryfucius (at) gmail (dot) com.

My usual house rules are attached; these are also available on the DC website with the game info. Since this is a tournament, rather than a stand-alone game, I do need to notify everyone that the timing will be different from what the house rules state. Orders will be due at 3pm Pacific / 23:00 GMT, which actually is 2 hours later than the deadline listed in the house rules. Also, this is a blitz tournament, so the rapid-fire season deadlines are as follows:
Monday - Spring
Tuesday - Summer (if necessary)
Thursday - Fall
Friday - Autumn and Winter

Please be sure to subscribe to the DC170 forum, to ensure that you receive all game-related messages from me, and feel free to introduce yourselves to the other players. I find it interesting to find out where everyone is from; one game I am running began with players from 6 different countries.

Thanks for playing, everyone, and good luck!

Cory
