The walls of the bunker shook with each new wave of bombardment. Field Commander Kommel stood – riding out every shock-wave and staring out the narrow slit of a window with his binoculars. The countryside outside Rome, once as familiar as the back of his hand, had been blasted beyond recognition.
"Field Commander!" The voice came from below him. Looking down, he saw his immediate subordinates cringing from the incoming fire and hiding under a table.
"What are you doing down there?" Kommel idly asked.
"Commander, Rome is lost. We must order the retreat."
Kommel calmly put his binoculars down and unbuttoned his holster. "Surely you are not advocating that we abandon our post, Captain?"
Ignoring the warning tone of the Commander's voice, his subordinate continued – fear twisting his voice into a girlish shriek. "Sir, we have been betrayed. The French are shelling from the west, the Italians are slaughtering are troops in the south and our support from Venice has not arrived. Sir – we are lost!"
Kommel took his pistol out and casually shot the Captain in the face. Dust and debris fell from the ceiling as he addressed the corpse. "Better we should fall in battle than retreat to Berlin and admit our failure. We hold our ground Captain." Turning back to the window slit, he again picked up his binoculars… ----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's like a scene from Star Wars with the Rebel Alliance blowing up the Death Star as the Germans are annhilated in Rome. However, the German Empire doesn't wait to strike back, as it annhilates two Russian armies in turn in Warsaw and Budapest. The Brits lose St. Petersburg but survive by the skin of their teeth in Brest and Russia secures the Motherland's hold on the Turkish Peninsula, sailing into Constantinople.

Three automatic disbands, but no retreats required after the Fall turn. We'll move directly into Winter 1906 with the deadline set for Monday, September 17th (11:59 PM GMT).

And oh yes, the German solo proposal has been vetoed and shelved for another day.

Please let me know if you spot any errors. Cheers folks!

Diplomacy games may contain lying, stabbing, or deliberately deceiving communications that may not be suitable for and may pose a hazard to young children, gullible adults, and small farm animals.
