PREV  Fall 1934 Adjudication:  NEXT

ACD233 / DC276: The Fall 1934 season witnessed a stab that will live in infamy, with France executing a massive stab of their British partner and also taking a stab at victory. With the victory line at 32, Jorge is only 2 short, although that is likely to change in the retreats if the British retreat to Saigon. It's hard to see how he will be stopped next year. Those SCs came almost entirely at the expense of the Bulldog, with Britain going down 9 SCs (probably 8 after Saigon). It won't be easy deciding which unit to salvage.

China made a nice advance into Korea to knock the last Japanese unit off the Asian mainland. The Americans snuck into the Azores, and could have setup a tough defense to crack against the British, although now that war will surely be off. Progress was made against the Soviets, who were knocked back in Eastern Europe. However, after that stab, everything else recedes in importance, and we will see if the rest of the board can scramble to stop Jorge.

Or should I say Albert Lebrun? We have some press from him this year, which is posted before the adjudication. The timing of my vacation is bad, as it would be nice to see immediately how this plays out. However, this is one game that I could not adjudicate by hand. The deadlines are:

Fall 1934 Retreat: Fri Nov 13
Winter 1934: Mon Nov 16
Spring 1935: Thu Dec 3
Fall 1935: Thu Dec 10

PRESS (French):

Last winter, in a bid for world peace that reverberated around the world, France postponed all of its projected military growth. (The lone exception was a fleet to safeguard against Somali pirates.) Sadly, this gesture seemed quixotic in the face of unabated warfare.
However, there was a silver lining. The response from freedom-loving people in seemingly every corner of the globe has been thunderous, a rousing crescendo virtually demanding that France use its unparalleled supply of intellectuals to find an end to the carnage. It is with great humility that this representative of the French people and culture announces their brilliant solution: the temporary take-over of select British holdings, to be administered with the utmost respect and appreciation, with their armed forces to fight under the French tricolor for precisely one year. At the end of that time, France projects the victorious end of a war that both our peoples have fought so bravely to bring about.

Albert Lebrun
